Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has publicly denied the leadership of Rivers State. He has, literally, denied being in-charge, politically. He has given up and handed over the political leadership of the State to the man he fondly calls his Oga, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike. Not too long ago, his ‘oga’ was his nemesis, his fall from grace.
In the past few weeks, political watchers had since known that Fubara had gone back to his vomit, but not many thought he could disclose it so publicly.
In a speech on Tuesday, he warned his followers, his loyalists, those who gave their all to back him when he was being dragged to golgotha by the Wike-backed State House of Assembly, those who took to the streets for days to protest his six months suspension from office, those who protested his humiliation as a governor, those who protested his denial of a second term in office, to perish the thought of seeing him as their leader. He forbade them from calling him leader. And told them that there is only one leader: Wike.
And in a video posted on X, he told them that he is a full fledged member of the Wike-founded Rainbow Coalition and is working for the reelection of President Bola Tinubu.
Fubara, also, told them that he is backing the much loved and favoured Honourable Kingsley Chinda for the Governorship seat of the State.
Recall that Fubara was denied a second term in office by Wike in favour of Chinda.
He told his loyalists in his post on X: “Peace has returned to the State. I urge you to work for the coalition.
“We have made peace in the state, and I am supporting the Rainbow Coalition. President Bola Tinubu is our president and is the one that we are supporting.

“Chinda is the governorship candidate that I am supporting and everybody who believes in me will support.
“I have returned to my political family. And for those of you who are saying ‘Fubara, we want to collect something before we support, there is nothing to collect, I have gone back to our family, so please wherever you are give your total support to that coalition.
“We need to move forward, the time of war is over, this is the time of peace and this peace is taking us to another level. What you miss here you gain in another place, that’s life.
“Don’t use my name to pursue any contrary agenda. I will not be part of anything that could destabilise the state.
“So please, I want this to be made clear to everybody, don’t go and say we are supporting Fubara, no. My position is this, I have said it here and clearly for everyone to hear that I’m not a party to anything that will bring instability to this state.
“I have done what I need to do, and for now we are moving forward”
