ACF To Tinubu: Provide More Funds For Security, Declare Total ‘War’

The Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, has called on the federal government to priotise security in the country, saying all resources available must be mobilized to end the menace.

The Forum made the assertion in a communique issued by its Board of Trustees on Wednesday in Abuja, the nation’s capital after a meeting of its leaders noting that the country is currently in a state of “war” urging the federal government to take extra-ordinary measures to bring peace to the country.

The meeting was attended by prominent leaders from the northern part of the country, including the chairman of the board, Bashir M. Dalhatu, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mahmud Yayale Ahmed; former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed D. Abubakar; former Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, amongst others.

The Forum urges the federal government to prioritize security by mobilising all the resources available, noting that the what the country now faced is beyond mere banditry, insurgency and kidnapping, adding that the country is in a state of full blown war.

It decried the effects of the problem on Nigerians particularly in the northern part of the country, saying the human cost of insecurity should draw the attention of the government because of the threat to national security, it urged the federal government to adopt a ‘wartime approach” to end the problem.

“The scale, persistence and human cost of violence demand a fundamental shift in national priorities,” the ACF said adding that federal government more concentrate more resources in providing security as there cannot be development until people are safe anywhere they are in tne country.

“Nigeria stands at a critical crossroads. The escalating security crisis threatens not just lives, but the very stability and future of the nation,” the Forum said.
