Despite serving as Deputy Governor and Vice President before his ascension to Nigeria’s number one position, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has described former President Goodluck Jonathan as an inexperienced leader.
Admitting Jonathan’s decency, Atiku maintained that his inexperience as a leader led to some of the challenges during his administration which he could not handle.
Speaking during an interview on Arise TV, Atiku stated that Jonathan’s inexperience contributed to his struggles in effectively managing the affairs of the country.
“I know Goodluck Jonathan very well. He is a decent young man, but also inexperienced, and I believe that contributed to his inability to manage the affairs of the country, particularly when he was faced with challenges,” he said.
Atiku stressed the importance of grooming future leaders through structured training, insisting that leadership gaps must be addressed early.
“What I would like to see is real leadership training in the young, upcoming politicians,” he added.
According to him, investing in the development of younger leaders would strengthen governance and better prepare them to handle national challenges.
