A former Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has been released on bail after he was arrested by the Police in Abuja.
He was arrested Monday night by the Police over allegations which boarded on criminal conspiracy, forgery and impersonation.
The arrest, interrogation and granting of bail to the former Senator, in Abuja, was confirmed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Aniete Iniedu.
He was returned to the Force Headquarters on Tuesday for further interrogation as investigations into the allegations continue.
Okorocha’s arrest followed his failure to honour previous police invitations in connection with the ongoing investigation.
He was initially invited to the Force Headquarters on September 2, but the appointment was rescheduled to September 8 at the request of his lawyers, a date he reportedly failed to honour.
He is being investigated over issues concerning the Senatorial ticket of Imo West which he had been laying false claims, allegedly, with forged papers and documents, to have won.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had cause to petition against him.
For the records, the ticket, under the APC, was won by the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma.
