Buba Galadima a staunch political ally of the leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has expressed fears that the opposition Coalition platform, the African Democratic Congress, ADC, may not be fielding candidates for the 2027 general elections.

This is as he described the Supreme Court judgment of April 30,2026 as a dangerous mine which the ADC must not step on.

Galadima, a former chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party NNPP, who spoke in Abuja on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at a summit  anchored by the Obi-Kwankwaso Movement maintained that the danger posed by the Supreme Court’s verdict on the ADC leadership tussle is such that should not be ignored by the opposition Coalition.

Galadima, a one time chieftain of the All Progressive Congress APC and vocal critic of the President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government, insisted that the ruling by the country’s apex court last Thursday is a  big pot-hole which the ADC vehicle must avoid if it hopes not to crash before the 2027 race.

According to him, the judgment represents the most potent trap set to truncate the aspiration of those in the opposition and pave the way for President Tinubu as the sole presidential candidate ahead of the election.

According to him, a new platform to ensure that the ingenious plot to have President Tinubu as the sole candidate in 2027 will be unveiled as from Monday May 4,2026.

“I said this since one and a half years ago publicly that President Tinubu will try to stifle opposition political parties; that he wants to run as a sole candidate in the 2027 election. And today, it has come to pass.

“The judgments that were delivered on Wednesday and Thursday both at the trial court and Supreme Court to any discerning mind are traps set for the ADC to which most us here belong.

“You are the Supreme Court of the land, and you are telling us to go back to the trial court, the court of first instance for a matter that was brought before you to conclusively settle.

“Now the question is: can that case before the High Court be dispensed with before the end of May, 2026 when political parties going by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC’s election timetable is expected to conclude their primaries and submit names of their candidates?

“If that can’t be done; if the case cannot be concluded before the end of May,then can ADC reasonably field  candidates for the election?

“We don’t need any power of clairvoyance to figure out the likely consequences of the ADC fielding candidates for the election with that case on the leadership status of the party still unresolved.

“So on that note, some of us have come to the inevitable conclusion that we have to look for an alternative if we are to avert the disaster of having President Tinubu as the sole candidate in 2027 .

“And in looking for the alternative, we are equally mindful of what they (Government and its agents) are doing to infiltrate the parties with a view to achieving their ultimate aim.

“In fact, we discovered that they have already infiltrated one of the alternative platforms we had earlier considered by planting two presidential aspirants ,whose job is to frustrate any consensus option in the selection of candidates.

“That is one. The other alternative of producing a candidate is direct primaries. Logistically and practically, no political party in the country, as of today, even including the ruling APC can successfully organize a direct primary.

“But the problem is much easier for them (APC) to solve because as the party in power they can call people, cajole, and even intimidate them to step down for their annointed candidates.

“The hard truth is that ,you cannot hold direct primaries in over 8000 Wards across the country . And don’t forget, even if you want to conduct the direct primaries, the Government and APC agents are ever ready to use street urchins, hooligans and hoodlums to disrupt the process.

“And when that happens, their dream of having the president and his Governor-recruits run unopposed will be achieved.

“They are thinking we are dullards or fools ,and that we cannot read through their mischievous scheme..

” Interestingly again, the other party we had wanted to use, they have concluded plans to go to court as early as Monday to file an application with the hope of stopping us before the primaries are held.

“But I can assure you with certainty that if you trust us as leader, we must work towards avoiding the grim situation the APC and the Government of the day want foist on the country

“As from Monday, I am optimistic that our leaders will declare the platform on which they will contest the election”, Galadima assured.
