Today, Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo posted the following message on his social media platform:
“Today at the ICC, Awka, we inaugurated the Anambra State structure for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“This is more than politics. It is a battle for the soul of Nigeria, for Ndigbo, and for Anambra.
“I told our people – politics is between emotion and reason. Emotion may dominate for a moment, but reason ultimately prevails. From Zik to Ekwueme to Okadigbo, our forebears always played politics at the centre. We cannot afford to be insular.
“APGA and APC share the same progressive DNA – true federalism and shared prosperity. That is why we have chosen to align with the centre. We cannot build railways, gas pipelines and the infrastructure our future needs with state resources alone. We need a strong partnership at the centre.
“Despite getting just over 5,000 votes here in 2023, President Tinubu has supported Anambra. Imagine what we can attract when we vote massively for him.
“For me, this is about the future. After the South completes its second term, power will go North before it returns to the South again around 2039. Where will Ndigbo be? We must be at the table, not outside protesting.
“History shows that a strong incumbent is never defeated by a fractured opposition. Let us unite and secure our stake in Nigeria’s future.
May Anambra continue to win!”
In essence, Governor Soludo announced the inauguration of an Anambra State political structure to support President Tinubu’s re-election.
There is nothing unusual about a governor expressing his political preferences or campaigning for a presidential candidate. That is his constitutional right. However, what makes this particular post interesting is the reaction it has generated among the very people whose support he hopes to secure.
I took time to go through the comments. The reactions were remarkable. An overwhelming majority of the comments – 99.9 per cent – were sharply critical of the Governor, with some descending into outright insults and unacceptable language. Indeed, the comment section reads less like the reception of a governor’s political announcement and more like an expression of accumulated anger and disappointment.
Below are 100 distinct, particularly caustic or sharply critical comments, reproduced with their authors’ names. I have also retained the original expressions, including the colloquial language used by the commenters.

Soludo may have his reasons for supporting Tinubu’s re-election. He is entitled to them. But the people are equally entitled to disagree. And from the reactions reproduced above, it is evident that many have strong reservations about the political direction he has chosen.
He seems intent on committing political “harakiri”.
