The seat of the Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, is under threat as some of his constituents are yearning for a fresh face.
One of them, the member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Amobi Godwin Ogah, leading call for senator Kalu’s retirement, urged him to retire from public office and allow fresh leadership to take over the senatorial seat.
Speaking during a well-attended civic reception hosted in his honor by Hon. Orunta in Isuikwuato shortly after returning from the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Hon. Ogah declared that Chief Dr. David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex, remains the most qualified candidate to step into the Senate and champion the cause of Abia North and Ndi Igbo.
Assessing the political trajectory of Abia North, Hon. Ogah acknowledged that Senator Kalu has served the state in major capacities, but stressed that democracy thrives on rotation, transition, and giving way to new perspectives.
“Serving Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has tried,” Hon. Ogah told the cheering crowd. “He has been Governor for eight years and Senator for eight years.
“It is now time for him to leave the seat for another person, and that person is Chief Dr. David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex.”
The federal lawmaker emphasized that Abia North requires an independent, unblemished, and courageously vocal representative in the Red Chamber—qualities he insisted are fully embodied by Chief Bourdex.
Rallying constituents and Labour Party faithful, Hon. Ogah explained that supporting Chief Bourdex for Senate is essential to aligning Abia North’s legislative representation with the developmental vision of Governor Alex Chioma Otti.
“We want to change the way politics is done. It should not be that whenever somebody comes, the person who is speaking is only looking for what he will take home or the rice he will receive. We need leaders who will stand firm for our people.”
Hon. Ogah called on the people of Isuikwuato, Umunneochi, and the wider Abia North Senatorial District to queue solidly behind all Labour Party candidates, including Chief David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex for Senate and Hon. Lucky Udoka Nweke Johnson for the Abia State House of Assembly (Uturu Constituency).
Reaffirming his own commitment to deliver grassroots democracy, Hon. Ogah assured constituents that the Labour Party structure remains united and determined to secure a resounding victory across all elective positions in upcoming elections.
