Obinna and his wife, Ifeyinwa.

By Charles Igbo

A heartbroken and distraught man, Cornell Israel, has placed generational curses on the criminals who murdered his only brother, Obinna and his wife, Ifeyinwa.

Both Obinna and his pregnant wife were 34 years old ar the time they were murdered on July 24, 2025, at Arondizuogu, Imo State.

They left behind four children who have become orphans, no thanks to the senseless attack by gunmen who killed them as well us their customers and passers-by. It was Arondizuogu’s black day when their soil was drenched in blood.

The couple will be buried on Friday, August 8, 2025.

Lamenting the couple’s death and the tragedy which befell his family,  Cornell placed curses on the killers in a heart-rending post on his Facebook page where he mourned his brother and sister-in-law.  He remembered their days together, and wondered how he would carry on.

He wrote:

“Obinna, my only brother from the same womb and your wife. You were my second- in-command in our lovely family. U and I do put heads together to tackle family responsibilities. We planned how to carry out our new project this August before bandits shot you to d3ath with your wife alongside with others right inside your shop at Arondizuogu in Imo State on Thursday, July 24th at 8.34pm, according to eye witnesses.

“The news came to me that same night at 2.00am. I couldn’t believe it till I came next morning and saw you lying lifeless with your pregnant wife. It wasn’t your fault.

“Had it been u were sick, money will bring you back to life. Had it been they shot you on the leg, I know where I would take u to, and treat you so that you will be alive to take care of your four children and be alive for me and our parents too. But they turned me an only son overnight with tears in my eyes.

“It will never be well with them even to their 6th generation. No soul in their family will cross 34 yrs of age.

“May your blood, your wife’s and that of her unborn child cry against them.

“Rest in peace bro, rest in peace. Rest in peace bro, till we meet to part no more. I will try to bear this fuc3up with Christian fortitude.”

Aviation Minister Vows To Sanction Airline Which Violates Flight Ban Of KWAM1

To make the six months ban from flying clamped on the Fuji music maestro, Wasiu Ayinde, KWAM1, effective, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has vowed to seize the license of any airline that violates the restriction order.

The Minister questioned the NCAA’s decision to suspend the Captain’s license without listening to both parties.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), on Thursday, placed the singer on a six-month ban, following his clash with ValueJet staff and crew at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

In a statement on X, the Minister described the act as a temporary loss of sanity and control on both sides.

He noted that contrary to claims by K1’s representatives, the musician repeatedly moved around on the tarmac and deliberately blocked the aircraft from taxiing.

“This is totally unacceptable behaviour. The issue of whether he was carrying water or alcohol is not even in issue at this point. It is the physical blockage of the aircraft from taxing that is the reprehensible conduct here, which is akin to a hostage situation.

“The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has temporarily suspended the license of the Captain and the pilot pending full investigation. I commend them for their proactive action.

“However, I have questioned their sense of justice in only acting against one party,” Keyamo said.

Keyamo ordered that K1 be placed on a no-fly list pending the outcome of a full investigation.

He further directed that all domestic and international airlines be immediately notified of the directive, warning that any airline that violates the order risks losing its operating license.

“This is one of the tenets of justice I have preached all my life. I will not sit idly by and allow this to pass.”

Fubara’s Supporters, APP Boycott Rivers State Council Polls

Siminalayi Fubara - Governor of River State
Governor Similanayi Fubara

By Suleiman Anyalewechi

The adopted political party of the  suspended Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara,  the All Peoples Party APP, on Thursday, August, 7,  2025, formally signaled its intention to shun the Rivers State Council polls.

The Source reports that the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission RSIEC has fixed August 30, 2025, for the conduct of a fresh election to select new officials for the State’s 23  Local Government Areas .

It will be recalled that the Supreme Court had, earlier this year, while ruling on the consolidated suits on the Rivers State crisis, nullified the earlier polls conducted by Governor Fubara on October 5, 2024.

The Court had also sacked all the elected Council officials ,and subsequently ordered a fresh exercise.

The APP, which surprisingly was  chosen by the supporters of Governor Fubara as their platform for the polls, clinched all but, two of the 23 Councils during the 2024 elections.

But while speaking on Thursday, the Chairman of the APP in Rivers State , Sunny Wokekoro, stated  that the decision to boycott the election was informed by a directive to that effect from the National Headquarters of the party in Abuja, and the Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC .

According to him, the party’s national body and that of IPAC had advised all political parties to keep their distance  from the planned Local Council Election..

He, however, insisted on the pre-eminence of the party in the State despite its decision to boycott the exercise.

” Much as we have decided to boycott the election, we still remain a force to reckon with in the political space of Rivers state .

“Of course, everybody was a witness to how we recorded a landslide victory during the annulled October 5, 2024, Local Government election.

“Make no mistake about it, our present disposition does not, in anyway, imply the end of the party in the State”, the APP chairman  noted .

However, there are strong insinuations that the party may be preparing to challenge the conduct of the election immediately after the exercise, based on what insider sources believe is a gross violation of the 2022 Electoral Act by the RSIEC.

In fact, this medium gathered that  many aggrieved parties and their followers have, particularly, faulted the decision of the RSIEC to ignore the mandatory three months notice to parties before the conduct of the election .

The Commission only issued a  month notice , having informed the parties about the  August 30 date just two weeks ago.

Several other parties , including the Coalition’s platform the African Democratic Congress ADC, are said to most likely follow the APP’s example to boycott the polls.

The Nigeria Police Force, (NPF), has shed light on recent accelerated promotions granted to some categories of officers within the Force.

It explained that these accelerated promotions were not arbitrary, but were part of a well-structured reward system, set up by the police leadership, aimed at recognizing officers who have demonstrated outstanding performance, uncommon bravery, professional excellence, and commitment to duty.

NPF stated that the officers who benefitted were those who met the standardized guidelines for such accelerated promotion.

“The recent exercise does not signify the commencement of a general or indiscriminate special promotion scheme, says force Spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi in a statement.

The statement follows noticeable lobby and pressure on the Force and the Police Service Commission by some individual officers requesting for promotion.

“The Nigeria Police Force has observed with concern the growing wave of lobbying and unofficial requests directed at the Inspector-General of Police and the Police Service Commission by certain officers seeking special promotions.

“This surge was triggered by the misinformation being spread by certain media platforms following the recent approval of accelerated promotions for a number of deserving officers who have distinguished themselves through exemplary service.

“The Force wishes to categorically state that these accelerated promotions were not arbitrary but were part of a well-structured reward system, set up by the police leadership, aimed at recognizing officers who have demonstrated outstanding performance, uncommon bravery, professional excellence, and commitment to duty and the officers who benefitted were those who met the standardized guidelines for such accelerated promotion.

“The recent exercise does not signify the commencement of a general or indiscriminate special promotion scheme.

‎”In light of recent misleading reports sponsored by a particular online platform  suggesting that the Police Force has initiated arbitrary  promotions, the Nigeria Police Force firmly cautions the public to disregard such falsehoods.

“These reports are baseless, misleading, and intended to undermine the integrity of the Force’s promotion process. The NPF remains committed to transparency, merit, and due process in all personnel decisions.

‎”Furthermore, officers are strongly cautioned against lobbying or attempting to influence the promotion process through unofficial means. Such conduct is unethical, undermines the principles of meritocracy and professionalism, and will attract severe disciplinary action in accordance with extant laws and regulations.

‎”The Nigeria Police Force reiterates its  commitment to a promotion system anchored on integrity, verifiable merit, and honourable service to the nation. Officers and men are hereby urged to remain dedicated, maintain discipline, and continue to discharge their duties with pride and distinction.”

The World Health Organization, (WHO), and United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) have picked six Local Governments in Edo State to carry out vaccination  against the outbreak of Monkey Pox, (MPox).

The exercise, which will be carried out in conjunction with the Federal Government and Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency (EDSPHCDA), listed the LGAs as Egor, Ikpoba-Okha, Ovia North East, Esan North East, Oredo and Esan West.

Director of Disease Control and Immunisation, Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency and the Impact Plus Project Immunisation Specialist in Edo State, Dr. Eseigbe Efeomon, who disclosed this at a stakeholders’ meeting in Benin City, said all residents in the listed local governments would be vaccinated.

Dr. Efeomon said those to be vaccinated would be based on the information already made available to the agency.

He explained that the vaccination would be for health care workers and those who were immuno compromised.

Efeomon listed other diseases in the state to include Dengue fever, Lassa fever, Yellow fever, Mpox and Diphtheria

“We had this meeting today with stakeholders in Edo State to create awareness about the Mpox vaccination campaign, which will be happening in Edo State shortly.

“This is a targeted campaign to help reduce the incidence of Mpox previously known as Monkey Pox in Edo State among health care workers and those who are immuno compromised. So those are the targeted groups that we are looking at.

“Health care workers and those who are immuno compromised will be receiving two doses of this vaccine to be fully vaccinated and be protected against the Mpox.

“Edo State is one of the states where we had an outbreak of Mpox in the country. This is why this vaccination is currently ongoing with support from the Federal Government, WHO, UNICEF and the state government.

“So, the agency is going to be carrying out this vaccination in six targeted local governments where these cases have been reported.

“So, we are reaching out to various groups and unions and we’re using a list line to ensure those who are at risk of these Mpox get vaccinated and are protected”, Dr. Efeomon said.

Edo State Coordinator of WHO, Dr. Eyo Nora, said the vaccine was safe saying that 2, 500 doses of vaccines were expected to be distributed to the six targeted local governments.
