Local Firm Petitions Ogun  Over Forceful Takeover Of Gas Plant By Chinese Firm

By Akinwale Kasali

Tunde Taiwo, a Small Scale Industrialist and founder of Sevam’s Gases and Real Life Products, has sent a Save-Our-Soul appeal to the Ogun State Government following the alleged demolition of his ₦500 million worth Gas Production Facility by a Chinese firm, Sheng Xin Industrial Co. Ltd, and its alleged conspirators.

Taiwo’s Company which deals in Industrial and Medical Gases, including Carbondioxide and Oxygen for commercial and Hospital Use is located at Peteh area along Lagos-Ibadan Airspace Way, Ogun State, was said to have been illegally invaded and destroyed by men who claimed to be acting on behalf of another firm, Sengen Industries Limited, said to be owned by Chinese Nationals.

In a petition to the Commissioner for Justice and the Attorney General of Ogun State, it stated that the incident occurred in mid-October 2025, alleging that over  hundred men, including armed Mobile Policemen and heavy-duty equipment operators, stormed his premises without any Court order or Government demolition order, razing down buildings, production equipment, and storage facilities valued at over ₦500 million.

Recounting how the crisis began, Taiwo said he lawfully purchased the land measuring One Acre in August 2023 from the Asurugbe family of Ogere Remo, under Ogun State jurisdiction.

He narrated, “Before I bought the land, I went to the Ministry of Lands in Abeokuta. The Government surveyors came, charted the land, and confirmed that it was free from acquisition.

“They advised me to do the survey, submit all my company documents, and begin the process of ratification since the land fell within government-acquired territory. I followed every instruction to the letter”, Taiwo stated.

Speaking further as tears  rolled down his cheeks, Taiwo said that after completing all necessary assessments, officials informed him that another company, UNIFED, had an overlapping boundary, and both parties were advised to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

“We were ready for the MoU, but it never materialized. Still, we had no issues. We commenced operations peacefully by December 2023, producing industrial and medical gases,” he said.

It was gathered through findings that for months, the company operated without interference.

The traditional landowners, led by Alhaji Awusipe of the Asurugbe family, reportedly attended the plant’s commissioning ceremony.

“No one ever challenged our presence or ownership. Even the families who sold the land stood with us during development,” he said.

However, Taiwo said trouble began on May 1, 2025 (Workers’ Day) when he was alerted that a 40-foot container had been placed across the factory entrance by individuals claiming he had encroached on their land.

“They locked my customers inside and blocked access. They claimed we encroached on their property, even though their own land had been untouched, undeveloped, and only accessible through ours. It was shocking and provocative,” he recounted.

According to him, he reported the matter to the Ogun State Task Force on Land Grabbing and Illegal Development, as well as the Area Command of the Nigeria Police.

He stated that he also involved the Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning, where petitions were submitted to relevant authorities.

“I wanted peace. I warned that if government didn’t step in, it could lead to confrontation or bloodshed,” he said.

His worst fears however materialized on Saturday, October 17, 2025, when heavily armed men invaded his property.

“They came in about four trucks, five vehicles of mobile policemen with no identification, and a caterpillar.

“When asked for any demolition order or official backing, they said none was needed because they were taking possession of their land.”

He added that his lawyer intervened, and the Police temporarily stopped the demolition.

However, by Monday, the attackers returned, allegedly backed by individuals claiming to have “court approval.”

“At the meeting with Police, they tried to show us a document that turned out to be fake. Even the officer who read it said it only mentioned adjusting a fence, not demolition,” he alleged.

Despite the confusion, the group allegedly leveled the entire plant, destroying production machines, gas storage areas, administrative buildings, and perimeter fencing.

“They didn’t just destroy; they stole. Some of the vandals carted away valves and gauges, thinking they were scrap metal. I lost everything I’ve worked for in over 27 years of my career,” he lamented.

After the destruction, Taiwo claimed the same group fenced off the entire area, barring him and his workers from accessing the premises.

“They fenced it completely. I can’t even go in to salvage a single item. It feels like my property has been seized in broad daylight,” he stated as he wept  bitterly.

He accused the Monarch, the Ologere of Ogere, of being complicit in the takeover.

“The Ologere’s son, together with the Chinese partners, were behind everything. They claimed to have bought the land in 2024 months after I had purchased and developed mine,” he stated.

According to information seen on the CAC website, the company Sheng Xin Industrial Co. Ltd was incorporated in October 2023, after his own acquisition, yet allegedly produced backdated documents to justify their claim.

Checks also revealed that the Ologere’s Son is a Director of the company.

“They even forged a family member’s signature to claim ownership of all the surrounding land.

“Even if they believe they have a case, the law is clear you don’t take possession through violence or self-help. You go to court.”

He however called for Government intervention, as he appealed to Governor Abiodun, the Commissioner for Lands and Housing, and the Ogun State Task Force on Land Grabbing to urgently intervene.

“I want the government to call the Chinese company and the Ologere family to order. They should compensate me for malicious destruction and theft. The government must also determine the true ownership through proper investigation,” he said.

He further urged the Police hierarchy and anti-land-grabbing agencies to ensure that such acts of impunity do not continue unchecked in Ogun State’s industrial corridor.

“This is how investors lose confidence. I worked for nearly three decades in the gas industry, invested all my life savings, and within a day, everything vanished. Government must not allow this injustice to stand.

“I only want justice, Let the truth come out, and let what has been destroyed be restored.”

When contacted for his reaction, the Ologere of Ogere replied,

“Neither myself nor my Son was involved in any demolition of property. It’s better to direct your letter to the company involved.

“The manager of the Chinese company can be reached on 09127**.”

When contacted, the son of the Ologere, whose name appeared on the CAC document as a Director of the company, responded courteously:

“Good afternoon. I am not a director or staff of Shengxin Company, as was wrongly stated in their CAC document which shall be rectified soon. I didn’t lead any demolition, neither do I have detailed information about the incident.

Nevertheless, you can direct all your enquiries to this principal staff of the company  0912*.”

However, efforts to reach the firm’s owner, Xuehong Yang, were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to text messages as at the time of filing this report neither was there any response from the number given by both the Ologere of Ogere and his son.

Ademola Adeleke - Osun State Governor

By Ayodele Oni

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has sued for constructive diplomacy rooted in the long-standing partnership between the United States, (US) and Nigeria following rising tension over alleged Genocide.

Adeleke also appealed for renewed diplomatic engagement between Nigeria and the United States, (US) amid rising security tensions.

In a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke urged peaceful dialogue following US President Donald Trump’s recent threats of military action against Nigeria.

“I appeal to the presidency of the United States to support Nigeria in fully implementing its new national security strategy.”

According to him, the new security framework is comprehensive and capable of tackling banditry and terrorist killings across the country.

Adeleke commiserated with the families of victims in the North and said the US should assist Nigeria in overcoming terrorism.

He described Trump’s remarks as a wake-up call for Nigeria to strengthen its counterterrorism efforts with international partners.

“We need our international partners to expand their support for Nigerian security agencies.

“Peaceful interface between Abuja and Washington holds the key, rather than military intervention by the American government.

Adeleke also commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration for its diplomatic steps to ease tension with Washington and address genuine western concerns.

“This is the time to unite as a nation and support national leadership to tackle threats against our citizens.

“We need peace, not war, to deepen our democracy and protect our people.”

Genocide: “No Meeting Between Tinubu and  US VP, J.D Vance” – Presidency

Donald Trump and Bola Tinubu

By Adesina Soyooye

The Nigerian Presidency has debunked reports that President Bola Tinubu has a scheduled meeting with the Vice President of the United States, J.D. Vance, or anybody over the threat by President Donald Trump to attack Nigeria to clear out those committing alleged genocide on Christians.

Dismissing the reports which said President Tinubu would visit the White House Tuesday for a meeting with Vance, Senior Special Assistant to President Tinubu on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi, in a post on X, Monday, said it as false and misleading.

The reports, said the Presidency, is fueling unnecessary speculation and uninformed  commentary about Tinubu’s diplomatic schedule.

According to Ajayi, any such meeting would be between Tinubu and President Trump and not between Tinubu and Vice President Vance.

Ajayi: “There is a SaharaReporters story that President Tinubu is going to the US on Tuesday to see US Vice President J.D.Vance.  That story is not true. I can see that the fake news by SaharaReporters has become the basis for some uninformed commentaries since yesterday (Sunday).

“If President Tinubu is going to the White House, he won’t be going to see the Vice President.”

The Imo State Police Command has embarked in a desperate search of a young man, Obioma Soribe. It has, therefore, appealed to the general public to help provide any information capable of leading to locating him and  reuniting him with his family.

He is, also, fluent in both English and Igbo languages, and is  reportedly mentally challenged. However, confirmed the Police,

he is still able to communicate his thoughts and needs clearly.

US Military Attack Threat: Akpabio Denies Mocking President Trump

Nigeria’s Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has debunked a social media post allegedly mocking United States, US President Donald Trump. The post was said to have been Akpabio’s response to the recent US leader’s threat to use military force against Nigeria because of alleged genocide against Christians in the country.

The magazine had earlier reported that President Trump, last week, declared Nigeria as a “Country of Special Concern”, a development that has caused serious fears in the country, particularly after the US leader threatened to use military force against Nigeria.

The controversial social post shared on Rant HQ had quoted Akpabio as saying, “The killing is taking place in Nigeria, not in USA, Trump should focus on US. Nigerians are not complaining about the killings, we are fully satisfied with the condition of Nigeria.”

Debunking the post on Monday in a statement, Akpabio’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, disclosed that the post did not come from the Senate President, saying some mischief makers are trying to create a  problem between Akpabio and Trump, with the aim of causing a diplomatic row between the US and Nigeria.

He stressed that the post was made to come from Akpabio even though he did not author it, adding that the senate President is a statesman who have huge respect for the US leader.

“The post is a total falsehood, a product of mischief, and a desperate attempt to incite misunderstanding between Senator Godswill Akpabio and US President Donald Trump, as well as between Nigeria and its international partners,” Eyiboh said.

Eyiboh noted that the accompanying photograph used by Rant HQ — showing the Senate President at an unrelated official event — was “deceptively deployed to lend false credibility to a fabricated quote that was never uttered by him.”

“Senator Akpabio is a statesman of global repute and a respected advocate of international friendship, diplomacy, and mutual respect among nations.

“He holds President Donald Trump in high regard as a historic figure and a leader of a great nation.

“He would never comment on internal matters of the United States, nor issue any statement that falls within the exclusive domain of Nigeria’s executive arm of government or the nation’s foreign policy establishment,” the statement said.

The Senate President’s office described the viral post as “a clear act of digital recklessness and a deliberate attempt to sow confusion, tarnish reputations, and inflame unnecessary diplomatic sentiments.”

“We urge the public to ignore this falsehood in its entirety.”

Christians Genocide: Gumi Urges Tinubu To Cut Diplomatic Ties With US

0
Sheikh Ahmad Gumi

Controversial Islamic cleric Ahmad Gumi has called on the federal government to severe ties with the United States of America, US over the recent threat of military intervention from President Donald Trump against Nigeria.

The US leader had last week designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” over what he described as genocide against Christians in the country. The US Secretary of War, had followed up by saying his country was prepared to use its powerful military force against Nigeria.

Reacting, Gumi called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to immediately severe diplomatic relations with the US, he also called on the federal government to summon the US ambassador, saying Nigeria is a sovereign nation that should not be threatened by another country.

The cleric stressed that Nigeria can build diplomatic ties with other countries that align with her national interest, saying friendship with the US is not by force.

Gumi: “For Trump to threaten a sovereign country with military attack is a profound disrespect to our authority, but we can rise above it,” the cleric said. He asked the federal government to summon the U.S. ambassador and demand an immediate retraction of the military threat.

“They either retract their threats or we sever diplomatic ties with this irresponsible regime.”

Meanwhile, a former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode has asserted that Nigerians are ready to defend their country against US military attacks. He had earlier stated that President Trump had no right to threaten Nigeria, describing the US leader as a bully.

Meanwhile, diplomatic analysts insist that Nigeria has a lot to lose politically and economically by severing diplomatic relations with the most powerful country in the world, saying diplomacy remains the best option to wriggle out of the current clash with President Trump.

Soludo To Trump On Christian Genocide: “In The South-east, It is Christians Killing Christians”

0
Charles Soludo and Donald Trump

By Charles Igbo

“In this part of the Country, we are 95% Christians, and around the SE are Christians. The people in the bushes killing people bear Christian names. They are Emmanuel, Peter, John.”

In response to President Donald Trump’s allegation of genocide against Christians in Nigeria, Anambra State Governor

Chukwuma Soludo, has thrown Christians in the South-east under the bus.

“In the South-east”, Governor Soludo told President Trump,  “it is Christians killing Christians.”

The Governor spoke in Awka, Anambra State, Sunday, during a Special interview with Channels Television. He faces a reelection contest on November 8, 2025.

In answer to a question on the threat by President Donald Trump of the United States of America, to descend on Nigeria, and wipe out the terrorists killing Christians in what he has described as genocide, Soludo condemned Trump’s, threat to invade Nigeria and wipe out the perpetrators of the alleged genocide of Christians. And to prove how wrong Trump’s assessment of the situation is, he told the US President that in his(Soludo’s) own South-east, for example, the opposite is the case as “it is Christians killing Christians.”

Soludo to Trump:

“What are you coming to Nigeria to do? To beat the police man, the Government or take over policing?

“Nigerian government needs to respond with the facts in a deeper conversation.

“America has the right of opinion about other countries within international law.

“The role of the Nigerian government in protecting lives and properties, the record needs to be clear. I think it is a matter of conversation.

“As a country, America has its own rights to have its own views about what is going on elsewhere, but when it comes to what it does, I am sure it must also do what it does in terms of its own response within the realm of its own international law.

“But there is a deeper conversation. Our introspection about what goes on in the country. In this part of the world, Eastern Nigeria, it is not religious.

“People are killing themselves, Christians killing Christians. The people in the bushes are Emmanuel, Peter, John, all Christian names, and they have maimed and killed thousands of our youths. It has nothing to do with religion.

“Certainly, if Nigeria requests any assistance for the military, technology and hardware to deal with insurgency, then it is within Nigeria’s call.”

Throwing the sad situation back to America, Soludo  said: “In America, you have policemen killing some blacks. I remember the Black Lives Matter protest, and somebody will say maybe, Africa should go and invade America because blacks are being killed. I am not quite sure because that is the way I see it.

“I think there is a need for deeper conversation. It must end in conversation, and I am sure the Government of Nigeria will respond very robustly on behalf of Nigeria. Nigeria is such a big country, and the government is doing a whole lot to safeguard the country.”

“In this part of the country, (South-east), we are 95 per cent Christians, and around the South-east are Christians. The people in the bushes killing people bear Christian names; it is wider than the categorisation of Christians, Muslims. Nigeria will overcome and it will end in conversation.”

Prior to his threat of war against Nigeria, President Trump had, on Friday, October 1, designated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern, CPC.

The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) has long pushed for Nigeria to be designated as a CPC. It made that explicit in its July 2025 report.

Fayose: Damagun Is Gone, Not Going Back As PDP National Chairman

0
Ayodele Fayose

Former Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has attacked the embattled National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Umar Damagun saying he rendered the party comatose through his actions.

The former governor spoke to journalists in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital while responding to the latest crisis in the PDP, following the suspension and counter-suspension by members of the party’s National Working Committee, NWC.

Thus following last week’s judgment of a Federal High Court in Abuja, stopping the PDP National Convention earlier slated for this month, some leaders of the party led by its National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu had suspended Damagun and other NWC members blaming them for the problems facing the party.

In their reaction , Damagun and others affected by the suspension also suspended Anyanwu and other NWC members in his faction.

According to Fayose, Damagun should be blamed for the crisis rocking the party as a result of his failure to follow the party’s constitution, saying the suspended National Chairman and his cohorts brought the party’s to its knee.

The former governor noted that Damagun will not come back to his position as the party now has a new Chaimrnan, Muhammed Abdulrahman who was appointed last week by the Anyanwu faction following the suspension of Damagun.

“We are happy we have a new acting national chairman, Alhaji Muhammed Abdurrahman, who emerged on Saturday as a result of the confidence reposed in him after the suspension of the former chairman. You will recall this is the same way Iyorchia Ayu crisis started and this former chairman, Damagum, will go the way of Ayu, I can assure you,” Fayose said.

On whether the party can come out of the present schisms, Fayose added that, “Let me just say that PDP is in comatose, under life support. Not until somebody is responding to medication, you might say there is hope. In the instance case, PDP is in comatose, without hope of survival.”

“His last service to the party was before the suspension. He is not going to return to that office as chairman. In the first place, he was not supposed to be the chairman; he only represented an interregnum, but manipulated the process to become the chairman and caused so much confusion.

“He caused so much confusion everywhere and you realize that the party could not even hold the NEC for a long time. It shows that the man, Damagum has been incompetent, he does not have what it takes and he stole that office and is acting in that capacity.

“Therefore, we want to appeal to the new acting chairman, assuring him of the cooperation of all party members, asking him to reposition the party, asking him to make all necessary corrections in state chapters before any convention.

“I want to tell you that Abdulrahman needs to come of age and assist the dwindling image of the party and conduct congresses as may be necessary in all state chapters that need to be done as directed by the court of law.

“They are not obeying their own constitution. They are not following due process. Like in the Southwest, somebody wants to control all the state chapters without allowing the congresses to hold and you are saying you are looking for peace; you will never find peace.”

The magazine reports that the former governor belongs to a group in the PDP led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike blamed by not a few pundit for being responsible for the protracted crisis rocking the major opposition party.

Gov Diri Bringing Nothing To APC

0

Amid celebrations in Governor Duoye Diri of Bayelsa state camp that he will officially defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, on Monday, a former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the party, Yekini Nabena has slammed the governor for trying to cause crisis in the party.

Nabena, who spoke in Abuja, the nation’s capital at the weekend said Governor Diri is trying to destroy the existing APC structure before he moved into the party.

The magazine reports that Governor Diri is set to officially join the ruling party more than two weeks after he dumped the opposition PDP. Diri said on Sunday that he took the decision to join the APC in the overall interest of the people of the state.

The governor is expected to be received into the APC on Monday at an elaborate ceremony in Yenagoa, the state capital where Vice President Kassim Shettima and other chieftains of the APC, including the National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda are being expected.

However, the governor’s defection appears not to have been well received by some APC leaders who have kicked against it.

Expressing his worry that the governor is joining the party, Nabena blamed Diri for being responsible for the recent problem affecting some members of the party, including the alleged arrest of NNDC Managing Director, Samuel Ogbuku over a rumoured botched coup plot.

Nabena stressed that Governor is aiming to destroy some member’s of the party and its leadership so that he can take over the party, adding that the state governor is not bringing any value into the APC.

“We have traced the recent happenings in Bayelsa state to Governor Douye Diri’s camp, especially the arrest rumours of NDDC Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku (PhD),” Nabena said.

“The plan is to destroy the existing organs and prominent members of the party before he (Governor Diri) formally decamps APC on Monday.

“But up till now, we have not found an answer to the question of what Governor Douye Diri is bringing to the APC. This is a Governor that his Deputy is not defecting with him. Hence, he is plotting to impeach the deputy governor.

“This is a governor that even some State House of Assembly members have rejected. About 90 percent of the serving National Assembly members, including Senator Dickson and other high profile lawmakers are not on the same page with him.

“This is a governor who is not in control of his local constituency, not to talk of his entire Senatorial District. We ask Governor Douye Diri again to tell Nigerians who is running after him or what he is running after?”

Diri owes his ascension as the state’s chief executive to the PDP under which he won a seat into the Nigeria Senate before becoming governor twice.

My Defection In Bayelsa Interest, Gov Diri Says As He Joins APC On Monday

0
Senator Duoye Diri - Governor of Bayelsa State

Ahead his official defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, on Monday Bayelsa state governor, Douye Diri has asserted that he took the decision in the overall interest of the state.

Vice President Kassim Shettima, APC National Chairman, and other APC leaders are billed to officially receive Governor Diri into the ruling party tomorrow, at an officials ceremony in Yenagoa, the state capital.

Recall that Governor Diri defected from the Peoples Democratic party, PDP, on October 15 alongside some member’s of the state House of Assembly, commissioners and Special Advisers and other aides.

But some top politicians in the state, including Senator Seriake Dickson and the Deputy Governor have refused to dump the embattled PDP for APC.

Apart from the refusal of some members of his party to join him in APC, some top leaders of the APC in the state have also kicked against the governor joining their party.

For instance, a former  APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena, in his response to the governors’ defection said Diri is not bringing any value to the APC.

But speaking during the 14th Bayelsa Thanksgiving Day held at the Ecumenical Centre, Igbogene, the governor said he made the decision to defect  the APC on behalf of the people of the state, saying “somebody had to take the decision.”

He explained that the people of the state will son understand the reason to move into another party, even though h won twice as governor under the PDP.

“Somebody had to take the decision (to leave the PDP), and I took it on behalf of the state. I took it in the best interest of Bayelsa. Some of you might not understand now, but later it will be clear to all,” he said.
