Enugu State Police Command has confirmed the killing of two Police Officers in an attack on a Distress Response Squad (DRS) team along Agbani Road, Enugu, on the night of January 15, 2026.

In a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the Police disclosed that the operatives came under unprovoked gunfire from suspected IPOB/ESN criminal elements while on duty.

The police team  responded promptly, forcing the attackers to flee with varying degrees of gunshot injuries.

During the exchange, the operational vehicle conveying the officers caught fire, while two members of the team sustained severe gunshot wounds.

They were rushed to a hospital for urgent medical attention, but were later pronounced dead by medical personnel.

The Police, also, announced the recovery of a Lexus RX 330 SUV allegedly snatched from its owner by the attackers and used during the assault.

According to the Command, the vehicle was recovered with multiple bullet holes, believed to have been inflicted during the gun duel with the police.

Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, ordered tactical and intelligence units of the Command to intensify the ongoing manhunt for the assailants.

He directed operatives to deploy all available resources and leverage actionable intelligence to sustain the trail of the fleeing suspects and ensure their arrest.

CP Giwa appealed to members of the public to assist security agencies with credible information that could lead to the arrest of those responsible.

He assured residents that the Command remains resolute in its commitment to ensuring that violent and subversive criminal elements are brought to justice and do not evade the law.

The Enugu State Police Command reiterated its determination to maintain public safety and urged citizens to continue to cooperate with law enforcement agencies as investigations and operations to apprehend the suspects continue.

Siminalayi Fubara - Governor of River State

By Suleiman Anyalewechi

A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, the State Capital has issued an ex-parte injunction restraining the Chief Judge of the State from taking steps in giving effect to the impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his Deputy Prof. Ngozi Odu.

The Court, also, restrained the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Matins Amaewfule, 32 other State Lawmakers, and the Clerk of the Assembly from taking any further actions on the impeachment moves against the Governor and his Deputy.

The Source reports that the restraining order came a few hours after the Lawmakers, pursuant to the impeachment option which they initiated last week, voted to officially write the Chief Judge to constitute a panel to investigate the allegations leveled against Governor Fubara and his Deputy.

The Legislators had, during Plenaryon Friday, also, reaffirmed  their resolve to pursue the impeachment option to the end, insisting that no amount of  political intervention will halt the process.

Justice F. A. Fibberesma  issued the  restraining order  following an ex-parte application brought before the court by Governor  Fubara and his Deputy against the impeachment moves by the House of Assembly.

The Court, particularly, restrained the Rivers State Chief Judge, Hon Justice Simeon Chibuzor-Amadi, from “receiving , forwarding, considering or acting, howsoever  on any requests, resolution, notice, articles of impeachment, or any other document or communication emanating from the House of Assembly Speaker and members ( 1st to 27th Defendants ) pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice filed before court”.

The Court, also, granted the claimants leave to serve the interim order, the originating summons and other processes on the defendants by substituted means, particularly by pasting same at the gate of the Rivers state House of Assembly Quarters.

In the same vein, the Court directed that the Chief Judge be served all the processes through any staff of the Rivers State Judiciary at the Chief Judge’s Chambers within the High Court Complex.

Hearing of the motion on notice has been fixed for January 23, 2026.

The Source further reports that the State Lawmakers who have been embroiled in a bitter political feud with Governor Fubara since 2023, had, a couple of days ago, raised the alarm over alleged plans by the Executive arm of Government to procure a restraining order.

The Legislators however warned that such a move has the potential to further undermine rule of law and democratic norms in the State.

Groups Ask Oyo Gov Makinde To Reverse Rotational Council Of Obas Chairmanship

Seyi Makinde - Governor of Oyo State

By Ayodele Oni

Oyo Community Civil Society Groups have rejected the rotational of the  Chairmanship of the Oyo State  Council of Obas, and so, the restoration of the Alaafin’s historical authority.

The Groups, Oyo Scholars Congress (OSC) and the Oyo Global Forum (OGF),  representing scholars, professionals, and community leaders of Oyo extraction across the world, in a joint statement, maintained that the inauguration of the Oyo State Council of Obas, with a rotational Chairmanship commencing with Oba Rashidi Ladoja, without an explicit and principled affirmation of the Alaafin’s historically settled pre-eminence, represents a serious misreading of Yoruba political tradition.

The statement, signed by Prof Seun Kolade, and Mr Taiwo Adebayo, on behalf of of the Groups, stated that “For the avoidance of doubt, OSC and OGF state their position clearly and unequivocally.

“We affirm the continued recognition of the Alaafin of Oyo as the historically settled, pre eminent traditional authority in Oyo State, by virtue of culture, history, and civilisational continuity.

“We, therefore, call for the reversal of any policy, legislative amendment, or administrative practice that presents the Alaafin’s throne as equivalent to that of any other traditional ruler within the state.

“Recognition of other crowns must proceed in a manner that preserves dignity and mutual respect, without erasing historically grounded order.

“Accordingly, OSC and OGF call for the immediate correction of this historical anomaly and cultural aberration.

“We call on Gov Seyi Makinde and the Oyo State Government to reverse, without delay, any arrangement that places the Alaafin’s throne on the same footing as other traditional thrones, and to explicitly reaffirm the Alaafin of Oyo as the apex historical and cultural authority within the traditional order of Oyo State.

“This corrective action is necessary to restore balance, uphold historical truth, and safeguard the integrity of Yoruba political culture, while fully respecting the dignity of all other traditional rulers.

“OSC and OGF recognise the constitutional authority of government to pursue reforms and the legislative role of the Oyo State House of Assembly in amending laws to improve governance.

“Yet reform divorced from history is not progress. It is erasure. Tradition is not an obstacle to effective administration. It is one of its deepest sources of legitimacy.

“Where reforms fail to respect this truth, they risk producing administrative order at the cost of cultural dislocation and historical disfigurement.”

Supreme Court Sustains Guilty Verdict Passed On Sule Lamido’s Son

Aminu Lamido

By Adesina Soyooye

Aminu, a son of  former Governor of Jigawa State has been confirmed guilty by the Supreme Court. The Apex Court affirmed the forfeiture of the sum of $40,000 slammed on him by lower Courts.

In its ruling on Friday, the Supreme Court  dismissed an appeal by Aminu,  in which he challenged the forfeiture of $40,000 to the Federal Government.

Trouble began for Aminu on December 12, 2012, when he was intercepted at the Aminu Kano International Airport Kano by personnel of the Customs and Excise with the sum of $50,000 USD  on his way to Egypt.

He had, initially, declared that he had on him the sum of $10,000 USD only. But when he was searched, it was discovered that he was carrying the sum of $50,000 USD.

Subsequently, he was arraigned on February 4, 2013, before a Kano Federal High Court on a one count charge of false declaration of foreign currency which falls under the Money Laundering  (Prohibition) Act and Related Laws.

He was convicted and ordered by the Court to forfeit 25 per cent of the undeclared amount to the Federal Government.

But Aminu appealed the ruling to the Court of Appeal which, on December 7, sustained the ruling of the Lower Court.

Still not satisfied, he approached the Supreme Court for a reversal of the Court of Appeal’s ruling.

But on Friday, January 16, the Supreme Court disappointed him when a five-member panel of the apex court, headed by Justice Inyang Okoro, ruled that Aminu’s appeal lacked merit. It sustained the decisions of the lower Courts.

In a unanimous judgment read by the Honourable Justice Abubakar Sadiq Umar, the apex court said the appeal lacked merit, was “doomed to fail”,  and sustained the forfeiture of the funds to the Federal Government.

At the time Aminu committed the offence, his father was still the Governor of Jigawa State.

It is not known why he kept appealing what many saw as a straight forward case, except that having been found guilty of the offence, he has become an ex-convict. That would pose a problem if he decides to contest for any political office.

Four Rivers Lawmakers Make U-Turn, Support Impeachment of Fubara, Deputy

Four Rivers Lawmakers

By Adesina Soyooye

In an action which ridiculed their office as Lawmakers, four Members of the Rivers State House of Assembly who had earlier opted out of the impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his Deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu, made an about-turn n Friday in its support.

The four who had earlier appealed to their colleagues to put a stop to the impeachment proceedings against  Fubara and Prof Odu, shamelessly reversed their stance. Meaning that within one week, they have held three different views on the impeachment.

The  four Lawmakers, Sylvanus Nwankwo, Minority Leader of the House and Representative Omuma State Constituency, Peter Abbey, the member representing Degema State Constituency, Barile Nwakoh, who represents Khana Constituency I, and EmiliaAmadiofObio/AkporConstituency II, said this in a press conference in Port Harcourt Rivers, on Friday, January 16.

Speaking during their renewed impeachment moves, Nwankwo said: “You’ll recall that on the 12th day of January, myself and my colleague, Honourable Peter Abbey addressed the press wherein we made a plea to our colleagues to seek for a political solution to the crisis between the Assembly and the governor of Rivers state.

“During the tendency of this appeal, we found out that the Governor and Deputy Governor have employed their media boys and aides to continuously attack the Rivers State House of Assembly, instead of seeking for the political solution which we offered. It is on this basis that I and my fellow colleague, Peter Abbey, is saying that the impeachment proceeding should continue, we have rescinded our plea.”

The Deputy Minority Leader, also said: “The Governor and Deputy Governor have sent signals that they are not prepared to retrace their steps and govern in line with the constitution, they are adamant. We are now convinced that their strategy is to intimidate us into withdrawing the impeachment process for the third time, while they continue their infractions on the constitution and the law. They are insisting that we will not perform our oversight functions like other states legislatures in the federation. This is very bad for our democracy. On this note we are proceeding with the impeachment process. And while we thank Mr President for his fatherly effort so far that the governor and his deputy have both disregarded.”

The charges against the Governor include the demolition of the Assembly complex, extra-budgetary spending, withholding funds meant for the Assembly Service Commission, and an alleged refusal to comply with the Supreme Court ruling on the  financial autonomy of the Legislative Arm of Government.

You Have A Case To Answer”, Supreme Court Tells Sule Lamido, Sons Over Alleged Money Laundering

Sule Lamido

By Suleiman Anyalewechi

The Supreme Court on Friday January 16 , 2026  ordered the retrial of the alleged money laundering and contract splitting involving  former Governor of Jigawa state Sule Lamido  and his two sons.

The Source reports that Lamido and sons are being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on a 37-count charge bordering on alleged money laundering and contract splitting to the tune of over N1.3 billion.

According to the EFCC, Lamido and his sons who are facing trial before Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court Abuja, committed the offences between 2007 and 2015 when Lamido was the Governor of Jigawa state.

The Commission accused the former Governor of receiving over N 1. 35 billion in kickbacks from contractors that handled projects for the Jigawa State Government.

The  Federal High Court  had earlier dismissed the no-case submission filed by the Lamidos ,and instead, ordered them to enter their defences for the continuation of the trial.

But dissatisfied with the High Court’s ruling, Lamido and his  children approached the Court of Appeal which subsequently   overturned the lower Court’s ruling on the grounds that the trial court sitting in Abuja Division ought not to have assumed jurisdiction over the matter being that the alleged offences were committed in Jigawa state.

But ,in a unanimous ruling the Supreme Court’s panel of five Judges led by Justice Abubakar Sadiq Umar, upheld the appeal filed by the anti-graft Commission against the Court of Appeal’s earlier verdict.

The Supreme Court Justices held that the EFCC’S appeal was meritorious, and, therefore, directed that the defendants – Lamido and his sons  open their defence in the case before the Federal High Court Abuja.

The Supreme Court also directed that all the earlier charges against the defendants be restored.

Impeachment: Rivers Lawmakers Direct Chief Judge To Constitute Probe Panel Against Fubara, Deputy

Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his Deputy, Professor Ngozi Odu,

The Rivers State House of Assembly on Friday January 16, 2026, proved that the impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his Deputy, Prof Ngozi Odu are on track.

At Plenary on Friday, January 16, 2025, the Lawmakers voted to direct the Rivers State Chief Judge to immediately set up a Panel to commence the investigation of the allegations leveled against the Governor and his Deputy.

The Lawmakers latest position is coming against the backdrop of growing uncertainty over the impeachment moves, occasioned by the failure of the House to resume plenary on Thursday January 15, as earlier scheduled.

Four Legislators out of the initial 26 members that signed the impeachment notice had on Monday and Wednesday backtracked , and appealed to their colleagues to reconsider the impeachment option.

The Lawmakers, including the Minority Leader, Hon Sylvanus Nwankwo, while admitting that the Governor and his Deputy may have committed some constitutional infractions, nevertheless urged their colleagues to explore other veritable options other than impeachment.

“We have called this press conference to appeal to our colleagues to temper justice with mercy and to see how we can resolve this matter without resorting to impeachment option.

“That is why we are here this morning to appeal to the conscience of our fellow colleagues. Having listened to so many pleas, calls from our elders and leaders , both within and outside the state , pleading for leniency”, Hon Nwankwo and co stated.

But at its plenary on Friday presided over by Speaker Martins Amaewfule, the law makers expressed their resolve to continue with the impeachment proceedings, insisting that it is the only way to settle the festering squabble between the Executive and Legislative arms of Government in the State.

Curiously too, the four members who had earlier recanted made a U-turn, renewing their commitment to the impeachment project.

The legislators maintained that they were acting within the purview of all extant laws in addressing the seemingly intractable impasse in the state .

Addressing the media, the Lawmakers informed that they have mandated the State’s Chief Judge to set machineries in motion to investigate the allegations against the Governor and his Deputy.

OPINION: Dedication of Nnewi Cathedral and the Impatient Bishop Okoye

Sunday was a particularly memorable day for the Catholic Diocese of Nnewi, marking the dedication of their cathedral, Our Lady of Assumption. The occasion was attended by over 300 clergy, including more than 100 bishops. The concelebrated Mass was led by Francis Cardinal Arinze. Most Rev. Jonas Benson Okoye, the diocesan bishop, explained that Arinze’s choice was especially meaningful because his predecessor had started the cathedral, which he continued; Arinze had also ordained his predecessor to the priesthood and confirmed him (Jonas Benson) in faith. He chose the day of his predecessor’s episcopal consecration for his own consecration and, ultimately, for the dedication of the cathedral.

The statement by Bishop Jonas Benson Okoye is dripping with catharsis, reflecting the deep spiritual connection and gratitude shared across generations. The climax was seeing his predecessor shed tears amidst all, a powerful moment of emotional release. By choosing the day of his predecessor’s episcopal consecration for his own dedication Mass, Biahop Benson reinforced continuity and mutual respect, and this emotional moment will surely strengthen the bishop’s relationship with his priests by building trust, deepening bonds, and inspiring loyalty, showing that genuine emotion and reverence have a unifying and motivating effect within the Church. This underlines apostolic succession and the continuity of pastoral leadership.

In his homily, Cardinal Arinze spoke directly and simply to the people about the cathedral being the principal church of the diocese. He explained that the cathedral revolves around two hinges: the Church itself and the seat of the bishop, which symbolizes the teaching authority of the Catholic faith handed down from the apostles.

The homily guided the congregation through the liturgy of dedication, explaining the meaning of each ritual step. The dedication transforms the building into a sacred space for worship through rituals such as the procession and opening prayers asking God to accept the church, sprinkling of the walls and people with holy water as a reminder of baptism and purification, anointing the altar and walls with sacred oil to show that the church is consecrated to God, burning incense to symbolize prayers rising to heaven, lighting candles to represent Christ as the Light of the world, and celebrating the first Mass in the newly dedicated church as the central purpose of the building. Every action carries deep symbolic meaning, reflecting purification, prayer, and the presence of God, and reminds the faithful that a church is not just bricks and mortar but a living space for gathering, teaching, and serving. We enjoyed the old and spiritually gratifying litany of the saints in Latin.

I sincerely thank the diocesan bishop for delivering this magnificent cathedral, arguably the best and the most beautiful in Nigeria, and for honouring his predecessor as well as all who contributed to the project. I am happy he mentioned Uba’s name. I was tempted to join those disappointed it was just in passing, but I asked myself whether I am aware of the depth of others’ contributions, given that Bishop Benson redesigned the entire church. While I am not fully aware of everything, I thank the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah in a special way for the extent of his contributions visible to us.

Globally, a few major basilicas have fixed universal feast days marking their dedication, including the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran on 9 November, the Basilica of St. Mary Major on 5 August, and the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls on 18 November. I am privileged to have visited all of them. These feasts celebrate the spiritual and historical significance of these churches as central places of worship. At the same time, every diocese and parish can celebrate the anniversary of its own church’s dedication, usually on the day of consecration or a nearby date if unknown. These local celebrations follow the same liturgical structure, emphasising that every church, regardless of size or prominence, is a sacred dwelling of God.

Canon Law further reinforces the sacred nature of churches. If a church is abandoned or deconsecrated, procedures exist to remove its sacred designation before it may be used for secular purposes. Observing rites properly, as Cardinal Arinze consistently demonstrates whenever he leads liturgical services, is a lesson to all of us. I have seen priests who stop Mass halfway to raise funds, those who serve water to VIPs during mass, and those who create their own words during consecration. These are sins against liturgy and divine worship. With older figures like Arinze and the bishops, we do not witness such aberrations, and I hope younger priests who may have forgotten what they were taught in liturgy and sacramental theology are refreshing their knowledge at the feet of the masters.

At 92, Cardinal Arinze’s faculties remain alert; his voice is vibrant, and his Latin impeccable. Those of us who learned Latin are guided on the correct pronunciation of Latin words by listening to him.

As I conclude, I thank the Papal Nuncio, Archbishop Michael Francis Crotty, for coming; his presence was invaluable and, tongue in cheek, balanced by the presence of our own homeboy and nuncio, Archbishop Jude Okeke. I must also acknowledge Archbishop Valerian Okeke, who is the “Oga Kpatakpata” of the province, as well as my own bishop, Dr. Paulinus Ezeokafor. My former government teacher, from whom I first heard names like Fletcher and AV Dicey, Peter Cardinal Okpaleke, was present as well. A special friend among the episcopacy, Bishop Geoffrey Onah, was there too; I cherish him because he has consistently increased my knowledge, always teaching something valuable whenever he speaks. I also thank the retired cardinals, bishops, and priests who, despite the insecurity in the land, came to show the oneness of the Catholic faith – an essential sign of Catholicism.

I thank in a special way my teacher, the Bishop: Dr. Jonas Benson Okoye. He is truly addicted to work, always diligent and disciplined in everything he undertakes. As our teacher in the eighties, he was also the labour master, guiding us not only in academics but in responsibility, discipline, and practical life skills. Expressive and matter-of-fact, he communicates with clarity and authority, yet always inspires respect rather than fear. His dedication has not changed over the years; he remains himself, approachable, and deeply committed to whatever he undertakes. Beyond his work ethic, he is a terror to malfeasance and impatiently doing today what should be done tomorrow. He is rapidly changing the face of the Diocese.

To show how accommodating and forward-thinking he is, the day we visited him at his hospital in Ihiala, he hinted at his plans to establish a specialised university. He even requested that a priest who would play a key role in the project ensure that I would be considered as one of the lecturers when it eventually takes off, reflecting both his openness and his desire for the future.

The low point of the event was a display by a knight. I was amazed by the level of his ignorance. How can a knight tie his faith to God through the Church to show of gratitude he perceived as omitted? In fact, it was good it happened. It is about time that membership of the knighthood is reappraised. It was clear the man in question is clueless in Church matters. He acted like a person propelled by unbelief. Is his faith tied to the actions of his bishop? Is he a reborn Donatist? Was he sleeping in the Church or thinking about “Alobunagu” when Ifeanyi’s name was mentioned? I am sure after the required reflection, he will apologise for his folly. That phrase: “akacha m” sounds ridiculous and every inch un-knightly.

Most importantly, we thank God for His guidance, grace, and providence that have made this historic day possible. We are grateful for the dedication, vision, and service of all those who have contributed to the life of the Diocese—from the clergy and faithful to the generous benefactors. May the Cathedral of Our Lady of Assumption stand not only as a magnificent structure but as a living testimony to faith, unity, and the enduring presence of God among His people. May it inspire generations to come to worship, serve, and grow in holiness, and may the lessons of dedication, perseverance, and spiritual continuity continue to guide the Diocese of Nnewi for many years.

In his reaction to the surprising decision his son, Abubakar Atiku Abubakar,  took to join the All Progressives Congress, APC, and work for President Bola Tinubu’s reelection in 2027, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar said his son’s decision is personal. He, also, added he never coerces any of his children in their political choices.

Recall that the former Vice President’s son on Thursday, dumped the Peoples Democratic Party and defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC, at the National Assembly Complex. He was received  by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, and some other  APC leaders from the North-East geopolitical zone.

At the event, Abba declared his movement to APC as  historic and personal, and  directed every of his coordinators and members of the political organisation he founded in 2022,  Haske Atiku Organisation, to immediately align with the APC and support Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He words: “My name is Abubakar Atiku Abubakar, but everyone calls me Abba. I am here today to formally announce my exit from my former party, where we worked in 2023, and my decision to join the APC.

“Today, I’m here to formally announce my exit from my former party to the APC following the outstanding leadership style and quality of His Excellency, the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I Jibrin.

His words: “The decision of my son, Abba Abubakar, to join the APC is entirely personal. In a democracy, such choices are neither unusual nor alarming, even when family and politics intersect.

“As a democrat, I do not coerce my own children in matters of conscience, and I certainly will not coerce Nigerians. What truly concerns me is the poor governance of the APC and the severe economic and social hardships it has imposed on our people.

“I remain resolute in working with like-minded patriots to restore good governance and offer Nigerians a credible alternative that brings relief, hope, and progress. “

Confusion, Shock In Atiku’s Backyard As Son Defects To APC, Backs Tinubu

Abba Atiku Abubajar and his father Atiku Abubakar

By Adesina Soyooye

There is a raging political fire in the backyard of former Vice  President  Atiku Abubakar. The fire signals an unexpected crack in his own family.

One of his sons, Abubakar Atiku Abubakar, popular as Abba, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC. Not only did he defect, he has pledged unalloyed loyalty to President Bola Tinubu and pledged full support for the President’s 2027 reelection ambition.

The irony: His father is a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC,  and fighting to get the Party’s Presidential Candidate. He plans to challenge Tinubu for the Presidential seat in 2027 for the fourth shot at the office, the most current being his shot in 2023 under the platform of the PDP.

But inspite of his ambition, his son has chosen not to join him in the ADC; but chosen to support President Tinubu in his reelection bid.

Atiku’s son’s defection  to the APC  which he formally announced on Thursday at the National Assembly, has shocked not a few Nigerians. He was received into the APC  by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin (APC, Kano North), alongside APC leaders from the North-East geopolitical zone.

Popular as Abba, the former Vice President’s son while   announcing  his resignation from the PDP  declared his full alignment with the APC. He described his decision as  personal and historic, and directed all coordinators and members of his political structure, Haske Atiku Organisation founded in 2022, to immediately join the APC and support President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

His words: “My name is Abubakar Atiku Abubakar, but everyone calls me Abba. I am here today to formally announce my exit from my former party, where we worked in 2023, and my decision to join the APC.”

He decision, he said is the outstanding leadership style of Senator Barau Jibrin and the performance of the Tinubu administration.

“With this development, I will work with Senator Barau to actualise the second-term bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027. To this effect, I am directing all coordinators of my association to join the APC and work for President Tinubu”, Abba said.

The APC National Vice Chairman (North-East), Comrade Mustapha Salihu, who spoke described the defection as symbolic and far-reaching, and noted that it is a  reflection of  politics without borders.

He said: “Today is one of my happiest days. This young man has seen the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration and decided to align with them. Salihu assured Abba of equal rights and opportunities within the APC.

Barau congratulated Abba on what party leaders described as a major boost to the APC’s consolidation drive ahead of the 2027 general elections. “This move is bold, wise and principled”, Barau said.
