Falz Urges President Tinubu To Resign, Reflects On The President’s 2014 Tweet

Falz Falana and Bola Tinubu

By Akinwale Kasali

Folarin Falana, Nigerian rapper and activist, popular as Falz, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to resign from his position as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

This call follows the abduction of 25 students of Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State, and the execution of Brigadier General Musa Uba in Borno State.

The Rapper in a post on X (former Twitter) on Wednesday, referenced the 2014 tweet by Tinubu in which the then opposition leader asked former President Goodluck Jonathan to resign for allegedly failing to tackle insecurity following the abduction of Chibok Girls.

Going down memory lane and quoting Tinubu’s words, Falz wrote: “You have consistently shown your unwillingness to protect the lives and property of our people despite pretending to care in the past. RESIGN NOW!”

The tweet by Falz cited the post in Tinubu of November 2014, seven months after the abduction of Chibok girls.

Tinubu wrote:

“Why should any part of this country be under occupation? In any civilized country, Jonathan should resign.”

It would be recalled that  Tinubu had, also, made similar comments earlier that year while speaking in Ilorin, Kwara State. He accused the Jonathan administration of lying about insecurity and lacking the capacity to protect Nigerians.

According to Tinubu at the time: “I saw the sea of displaced persons caused by the Boko Haram insurgents and the lies coming from Jonathan’s administration. They have exhibited failure, lack of capacity, vision, creativity; the lie of yesterday is what they repeat today and it is what they will repeat tomorrow. They are lying to you.”

He added: “If you control the armed forces and you are the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic, why should any part of this country be under occupation? And you give us excuses every day. In any civilized country, Jonathan should resign. But if he will not resign, he should wait for our broom, we will sweep them?”

The Kano State Government has approved the  employment, and deployment of 1,600 guards to provide round-the-clock surveillance and protection at the State’s public schools.

The development is coming on the heels of the abduction of 25  Kebbi state female students from their hostels.

The Source reports that some  terrorist elements had early Monday morning November 17, 2025 attacked Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School Maga in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi state, killed the Vice Principal, a security guard, and kidnapped 25 students.

The unfortunate incident expectedly has since provoked shock ,anger and anxiety , with many security challenged states , especially in the North West region of Nigeria, taking pre-emptive measures to avert a similar incident.

Governor Abba Kabiru Yusuf who approved the appointment and distribution of the permanent and pensionable security personnel, said the development represents a significant step towards restoring safety , discipline and stability to public schools in Kano State .

A statement on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, from his media aide Sanusi Bature Tofa, informed that the security guards will play a critical role in safeguarding school premises, monitoring unauthorized activities, and supporting the smooth running of academic activities.

The Kano State Governor emphasized the importance of a secure and generally conducive environment to the pursuit of  meaningful academic activities.

He noted that the protection of students, teachers and school facilities remain a top and uncompromising priority of his administration.

According to Governor Yusuf, no meaningful academic activities can take place in an atmosphere of insecurity

The Source further reports that Kano, which had since the  outbreak of insurgency and banditry activities in most Northern states of the country, has almost  been insulated from the mailase, a few weeks ago, finally succumbed to the debilitating scourge.

Presently, Shanono and Bagwai Local Councils in the Kano North Senatorial District have been the most hard-hit by the emerging terrorists activities in the state.

It is strongly believed that bandits and other terrorists from neighbouring States of Katsina are majorly responsible for the attacks on a section of Kano North.

The cross border attacks are, also, believed to be a direct consequence of the recent controversial peace deal said to have been struck between banditry lords and the Katsina state authorities.

Governor Abdulraham AbdulRazaq: Vow to track down the perpetrators.

By Ayodele Oni

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Zulu-Gambari have reacted to the shocking attack by bandits on a church at Eruku which claimed lives and abduction of several worshippers.

Report revealed that an unconfirmed number of worshipers were  abducted when bandits attacked a branch of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) at Oke Isegun in the Eruku community, a boundary town with Kogi in the Ekiti LGA of Kwara state while Church  Service was ongoing.

A video of the attack, captured during a live stream shows the worshipers conducting a service when sporadic gunshots were heard from around the church premises on Tuesday.

The congregation, led by a young Pastor, scampered for safety as the gunshots intensified, after which some bandits were seen entering the church. The screams from the members of the congregation, including children, were heartbreaking.

More than five armed bandits stormed the building and ransacked the place of worship, carting away belongings of the worshippers. The young Pastor who was conducting the service was one of those abducted, according to reports.

In response, Governor AbdulRazaq requested that more security agents  be urgently  deployed  to Ekiti Local Government Area, especially Eruku axis, to immediately curtail the new wave of attacks in the area.

“The Governor sought immediate deployment of more security operatives to support the existing security architecture in the area,” according to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Rafiu Ajakaye.

“He requested that this new measure be activated immediately. The Governor condemned the unconscionable attack, sympathised and identified with the people of Eruku and environs, especially families and the CAC directly impacted by the condemnable attack of Tuesday.

“The state government will continue to support the security agencies to tackle these challenges and ensure safety of lives and properties across the state.”

The Governor, similarly, commended President Bola Tinubu for the deployment of 900 additional troops in Kwara, saying this is expected to strengthen security in the state.

“We have indeed seen appreciable calm in many areas previously affected. We sincerely thank the President for this.

“We are confident that the additional troops will provide further deterrence, overall safety for our people, and permanent calm,” the statement added.

Emir of Ilorin, and Chairman, Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council,  Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari  condemned the Tuesday evening’s attack on some Church worshippers in Eruku town, in Ekiti Local government area of the state.

Alhaji Sulu-Gambari, in a statement issued on Wednesday by his Press Secretary, Dr. Abdulazeez Arowona, expressed concern over the incidence stressing that, “It is most unfortunate, condemnable and worrisome.”

He noted that it is saddened that the dastardly and unpatriotic act occured when governments at all levels are making concerted efforts towards getting the nation rid of banditry, terrorism and other felonious acts.

The Emir  appealed to security agencies to intensify efforts by mobilising forces for the safe return of all the kidnapped victims even as he mourned those who were killed during the attack.

He, therefore, prayed Almighty Allah for the repose of the souls of the dead and comfort their families

Unity Bank Savings Culture

Ebenezer Kolawole, Managing Director/chief executive officer of Unity Bank Plc,  has renewed the Bank’s call for young Nigerians to embrace a savings culture, urging them to see savings as a lifelong discipline for creating stability and financial resilience.

The commercial bank’s chief executive  gave the charge while addressing students of Alvana Model Secondary School, Owerri, Imo State, as part of the financial literacy training organized by the Bank to mark this year’s World Savings Day.

Represented by William Odigie, Unity Bank’s Zonal Head, South East/South South, Kolawole reaffirmed Unity Bank’s commitment to deepening financial inclusion among young Nigerians as it joined global institutions to commemorate this year’s World Savings Day, themed “Beyond Savings – Building Financial Resilience.”

The Bank participated in nationwide Financial Literacy Training sessions held simultaneously across the country, an initiative led by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Bankers’ Committee, Deposit Money Banks and Junior Achievement Nigeria, aimed at improving financial inclusion and equipping young people with essential money management skills.

Speaking during the training, Kolawole stressed that “savings is foundational to financial planning, financial management and investment, and therefore the Youth must imbibe the culture of savings not just as mere financial activity, but to enable them to create financial security and independence in the long run”.

He noted that Unity Bank continues to prioritise financial literacy initiatives because early exposure to money management helps young people mitigate uncertainties and economic shocks that may hinder their ability to meeting goals.

The training sessions, facilitated by Unity Bank staff across multiple states, exposed students to practical lessons on budgeting, financial goals and seminar classes and workshops.

World Savings Day, celebrated annually on October 31, promotes the importance of savings as a cornerstone of economic resilience. In Nigeria, Deposit Money Banks collaborate with the CBN and partner organisations to deliver training programmes that equip students with lifelong financial skills.

Unity Bank’s participation reflects its ongoing dedication to supporting youth development and strengthening the financial literacy ecosystem across the country.

Kebbi Abduction Shows Nigeria Has Lost Control

Nigeria woke up once again to the heartbreaking reality that its children are no longer safe in their own country.

In the early hours of Monday, November 17, 2025, armed men stormed Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Danko Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, kidnapping about 25 schoolgirls and killing a vice principal, Hassan Yakubu Makuku, along with a security guard who dared to stand in their way. The scene was brutal, tragic, and deeply symbolic of a nation that has abandoned its most vulnerable.

This is not the first tragedy of its kind. It is part of a grim pattern stretching back to the Chibok abduction in 2014, followed by Dapchi, Kagara, Jangebe, Tegina, and countless others. More than 1,500 schoolchildren have been kidnapped in northern Nigeria in the last decade, yet the federal government continues to offer the same tired responses: condemnation, promises, directives, committee inaugurations, and empty assurances. Nothing changes. The criminals grow bolder. The attacks become more daring. And citizens are left wondering whether their leaders even grasp the weight of what is happening.

What makes the Kebbi incident even more infuriating is the ease with which the attackers carried out their mission. According to community leaders, the gunmen entered through the vast Zamfara forests and operated on school grounds for several hours without a single obstruction. No early-warning signal. No engagement. No rapid deployment. No intervention of any kind. The question every Nigerian is asking is simple: How is it possible for armed men to terrorise a community for hours in a country that claims to have a functioning security architecture?

The truth is bitter—these attacks keep happening because the system is broken, and those responsible for fixing it have grown comfortable with failure. In a serious, organised, and civilised society, the Ministry of Defence and the entire security leadership would have resigned honourably after such a disgrace. There would be outrage, accountability, and consequences. But in Nigeria, the usual cycle has already begun: press statements, condolences, and yet another round of lamentation from government officials who behave like helpless observers rather than leaders entrusted with protecting lives.

This repetitive script is insulting to citizens who are forced to live with fear as a daily companion. It is demoralising to parents who send their daughters to school only to have them snatched away in the dead of night. And it is dangerous for the country’s future because no nation can develop when its classrooms become breeding grounds for trauma, disappearance, and death.

The government’s attitude towards insecurity has become casual, almost dismissive. Communities have raised concerns for years. Security analysts have warned about the open flow of armed groups across forests in Zamfara, Kebbi, Kassina, and Niger States. Civil society organisations have repeatedly highlighted the vulnerability of rural schools. Yet nothing meaningful has been done. The forests remain sanctuaries for criminals. Schools remain unprotected. And federal officials continue to talk, sympathise, and move on.

The abduction in Kebbi must not be allowed to fade into the long list of tragedies Nigeria has normalised. This is a national disgrace—an alarming reminder that the country’s security blueprint is no blueprint at all. It is time for the government to confront this failure with honesty rather than excuses.

Nigeria needs coordinated intelligence networks that actually work, security presence that is proactive and not reactionary, and leadership that takes responsibility instead of issuing statements. The forests that have become operational bases for criminals must be cleared decisively. Technology must replace guesswork. And those occupying key security positions must either show results or step aside for people who can deliver.

Nigeria can no longer afford a leadership that reacts only after lives have been lost. A leadership that waits for tragedies before issuing hollow assurances. A leadership that has forgotten that the protection of citizens is not a favour—it is its foremost obligation.

The 25 schoolgirls taken from Kebbi are not just numbers in a tragic statistic. They are daughters, sisters, students, and human beings whose dreams have been violently interrupted because those who swore to protect them failed. Every passing hour without their rescue is a reminder of a government that has grown comfortable with national sorrow.

Nigeria must demand better. The country cannot continue like this—where criminals operate freely and the state responds with nothing but sorrowful speeches. Our children deserve safety. Their parents deserve peace. And the nation deserves leaders who act with courage, competence, and accountability.

Until then, every abduction will remain a painful reminder that Nigeria has not just lost control of security—it has lost its conscience.
