Imo Govt Tackles Ugochinyere, Calls Him Perennial Attention Seeker; Says He Shot Himself On The Foot

0

Imo State Government on Thursday declared that the self acclaimed spokesman of a non existent Conference of United Political Parties ( CUPP), Ikenga Ugochinyere, once more shot himself in the foot, during a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, by exposing his own lies and confirming that he is unfit to occupy an electable public office, particularly that of representing Ideato federal constituency in the National Assembly.

The Government said Ugochinyere was a perennial attention seeker who is destroying himself politically by constantly and baselessly attacking the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, just to draw attention to himself in a desperate bid to help his sagging political misadventure, and consequently urged Nigerians to discountenance his rantings.

The State Commissioner for Information, Hon Declan Emelumba in a statement in Owerri on Thursday said Ugochinyere shot himself in the foot because ” he failed all through  the over one hour of his rambling to either acknowledge the brutal murder and butchering of his own Local Government Sole Administrator or to commiserate with his family, or even to include him among those he observed one minute silence for.”

The statement explained: “Ideato North where the late Sole Administrator came from, is one of the two Local Governments that Ugochinyere is seeking to represent in the Federal House. It is also his Local Government Area. By this callous act of condoning the brutal murder of his own Local Government Chairman, whilst shouting at the rooftops about the murder of his uncle and associates,  has Ugochinyere  presented himself as a man capable of representing Ideato people without prejudice? No. He has rather presented himself as highly unfit for the political office he seeks.”

The Commissioner further recalled that the same Ugochinyere had earlier announced that there were at least 14 APC states he found involved in his allegations of voter registration fraud and added,  “Now he claims that it is those he exposed in that regard that were after his life. Assuming without conceding that to be correct, the big question then is why single out Governor Hope Uzodimma? This shows that he is a liar who is irredemably enmeshed in self contradictions.”

The Commissioner wondered why a man who calls himself a lawyer can probate and reprobate at the same time all in a futile effort to rubbish Governor Uzodimma.

He disclosed that most of the allegations levelled against the Government and its officials during the press conference by Ugochinyere on Wednesday were defamatory and actionable and therefore being studied by the Ministry of Justice for appropriate response.

The Commissioner said since it was obvious that Ugochinyere has taken over the job of the Police and DSS by claiming to have evidence from his investigation and intelligence on those after him, he should now approach the courts with his evidence. “That is the civilised thing to do and not to continue to address press conferences bankrolled by his sponsors.”

On the allegation that the governor’s SA threatened his life on phone,  the statement said it was clear from even the audio he played at the press conference that the said Chinasa Nwaneri,  never threatened him.” Rather what he said was that he will imprison him ( Ugochinyere) for maligning his person and that was what Nwaneri tried to do by going to court.”

“On the whole there was nothing new in what he said apart from the rehash of the past meant to attract attention. It is the same old tactics; attack Uzodimma and attract attention to yourself even if it  means using a bogus CUPP which no one  knows the other members of the executive, including the chairman or even which political parties are members.”

The Commissioner described as pathetic the constant needling of the state government by Ugochinyere just to attract cheap popularity, saying there must be a limit to his mischief.

He restated the stand of the Government that it was innocent of allegations of burning down Ugochinyere’ s house.

“Our position is clear that Government has no hands in the ordeals of the man. Let him look inwards. As far as we are concerned Ugochinyere neither poses a threat to the Government nor does he worth anything politically,” he declared.

Emelumba noted that Ugochinyere knows he is an electoral liability, hence  his resort to castigation of the Government to maintain a modicum of relevance.

“He is completely unelectable in Ideato, that’s why he is dragging everyone down, that’s why he is seeking the disqualification of the APC candidate, that’s why he is insulting the governor and even the National chairman of his own party, to acquire relevance,” Emelumba said.

He told Ugochinyere to leave the media showmanship alone and face his campaign at the grassroots because elections are not won by press conferences.”

Cash Crisis: CBN Makes U-turn

0
Godwin Emefiele

The Central Bank of Nigeria. CBN has directed commercial banks in the country to begin payment of the new naira notes over the counter, a development widely considered a reversal  of it’s earlier stand on the issue .

Recall that the Governor of CBN , Godwin Emefiele two weeks ago ordered the banks to only load the ATMs with the redesigned Banknotes.

The apex bank latest directive to the banks is however subject to a maximum daily payout limit of N20,000, according to Osita Nwanisobi, Director of Corporate Communication, CBN.

Nwasinobi said the apex bank  would work with security agencies to arrest and prosecute those who hawk the naira.

He explained that the CBN is not unaware of what Nigerians are going through to get the new notes since they were introduced last year.

Nwasinobi said: “The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has observed, with grave concern, the activities of persons who sell the newly redesigned banknotes and those who flagrantly abuse the legal tender by hurling wads of Naira notes in the air and stamping on the currency at social functions.

“We have equally noticed the queues at Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) across the country and an upward trend in the cases of people stocking and aggregating the newly introduced banknotes they serially obtain from ATMs for reasons best known to them. Also worrisome are the reported cases of unregistered persons and non-bank officials swapping banknotes for members of the public, purportedly on behalf of the CBN.

“We wish to state unequivocally that, contrary to the practice of these unpatriotic persons, it is unlawful to sell the Naira, hurl (spray), or stamp on the currency under any circumstance whatsoever.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Section 21(3) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act 2007 (As amended) stipulates that “spraying of, dancing or matching on the Naira or any note issued by the Bank during social occasions or otherwise howsoever shall constitute an abuse and defacing of the Naira or such note and shall be punishable under the law by fines or imprisonment or both

“Similarly, Section 21(4) states that “It shall also be an offence punishable under Sub-section (1) of this section for any person to hawk, sell or otherwise trade in the Naira notes, coins or any other note issued by the Bank.

“Accordingly, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is collaborating with the Nigeria Police, Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) to address the unpatriotic practice.

“We, therefore, warn Nigerians, particularly those at social functions such as birthdays, weddings and funerals, to desist from disrespecting the Naira or risk being arrested by law enforcement agencies.

“While reiterating our commitment to Nigerians to ensure the effective distribution of the newly introduced Naira banknotes, we urge them to exercise patience as the CBN is working assiduously to address the challenge of queues at ATMs.

“In line with this resolve, the Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, has directed deposit money banks (DMBs) to commence the payment of the redesigned Naira notes over the counter, subject to a maximum daily payout limit of N20,000,” he said.

Meanwhile, sources in the banks said the new notes are only being allocated in a piecemeal to banks, and it will be difficult for them to  meet the demands of customers for cash at the current level they received allocation from the apex bank.

Fidelity Bank Full Year Profit Rises To N52 billion

0

Fidelity Bank Plc has announced an impressive growth in Profit Before Tax to N52 billion for the Full Year 2022. This was made known in the Bank’s unaudited statement of account presented to the Nigerian Exchange, NGX, on Wednesday, 31 January 2023.

According to the regulatory filing, the commercial bank grew Gross Earnings by 33.9 percent to N335.897 billion (from N250.774 billion in FY 2021) and Net Interest Income by 61.1 percent to N152.813 billion (from N94.877 billion in FY 2021) leading to a Profit After Tax of N47.163billion for FY 2022 (from N35.579billion in FY 2021).

Similarly, the Bank’s total assets now stand at N3.999trillion (from N3.289trillion in FY 2021) and Deposit from Customers is now at N2.591trillion (from N2.024trillion in FY 2021).

Analysts posit that this is yet another strong showing for the tier-one bank having sustained impressive performance year-on-year even in the face of the economic headwinds.

Notably, the bank has managed to record one of the lowest Non-Performing Loans (NPL) ratios in the Nigerian banking industry, despite growing its Gross Earnings at an impressive rate,

NNPC: CNPP Replies Tinubu Group

0
Chief Willy Ezugwu

Conference Of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) has responded to the insinuations by a group associated with the Presidential and Vice-presidential candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima that the CNPP was engaging in what it described as “Cheap Blackmail” for accusing the management of incompetence and corruption.

The group, Tinubu Shettima Network (TSN), had maligned the CNPP for calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to purge the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) of an alleged corrupt management team if the president wishes to end the perennial fuel scarcity in the country.

The group had said, “We expected CNPP to blame OPEC quota on oil thieves and the recent fuel scarcity on marketers rather NNPCL. Is it NNPC staff that are stealing oil. It is a cartel and the security agencies and politicians are involved and this has been happening since 1983 in this country?”

However in a reply issued by the CNPP Secretary General, Chief Willy Ezugwu, the CNPP noted that “in the first place, the use of a group associated with Tinubu to respond to a glary case of incompetence manifesting in fuel scarcity and unfortunate hike in pump price of petrol is a confirmation of the CNPP position.”

The CNPP added that Tinubu is the only politician in Nigeria who receives missing bullion vans according to his spokesperson, Comrade Ayodele Adewale who told the world that bullion vans pictured in his house was missing road.

“So, when one Kailani Muhammad, an associate of Tinubu speaks on corruption related defence, no citizen can take him seriously. The corrupt will most likely defend the corrupt.

“The CNPP, as the umbrella association of registered political parties and political associations in Nigeria, reiterates that setting up a 14-man Committee by President Muhammadu Buhari to find lasting solutions to the problems surrounding the supply and distribution chain of petroleum products in the country was an open indictment of the management team of the newly registered NNPC Limited.

“The Tinubu group had argued that since the repositioning of NNPC, nobody or leader can deep hands in NNPC’s coffers to steal money, but since the company was registered, unending fuel scarcity has worsened hardship burdens Nigerians have to bear under the APC government.

“Some experts have revealed that Nigeria losses about 600,000 barrels of crude oil per day to oil thieves while other put the stolen crude oil at 80 percent of Nigeria’s daily production.

“A vessel takes days to load crude oil and if as much as 600,000 barrels of crude oil per day is stolen, NNPCL must be complicit or incompetent.

“The NNPC has been accused by military sources of providing valid papers for some vessels after the illegal vessels have been arrested.

“That’s why many experts have continued to wonder aloud how vessels with stolen crude manage to beat the security agencies, especially the navy, to enter the country to illegally take the crude without connivance of NNPCL officials.

“Therefore, it is not out of blackmail for CNPP to point accusing fingers on the NNPCL management over continued oil theft and subsidy scam. It’s out of genuine concern as the corrupt cannot effectively fight corruption.

“This is why NNPC continued to defend allegation that it has been inflating figures released for the daily consumption of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) in the country.

“Recall that the Comptroller-General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali, and the state governors have at different times alleged an inflation by almost 50 percent in the NNPC figures on petrol consumption and demanded a probe of oil subsidy payments from 2015 till date to no avail”, the CNPP stated.

Tinubu: Dino’s Disgusting Display

0
Comfort Obi

By Comfort Obi

I waited these few days before this comment  because I thought Senator Dino Melaye, at his sober moment, would realise how inhuman, how insensitive his display at the Peoples Democratic Party’s Presidential Campaign Rally was the other day. And, I also thought his Principal, the Presidential Candidate of the Party, Atiku Abubakar, would do the most decent thing, short of relieving him of his appointment –  publicly call him to order.

Only Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party did.

Dino was publicly mocking and imitating what the alleged ill-health of the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, has reduced him to.

In more civilized climes, Dino would either have resigned honourably, after tendering an apology, or be forced by his Principal to resign as the Spokesperson of his Presidential Campaign Council over his sickening display. His political career would have died a premature death.

As is well known, the campaign for Nigeria’s 2023 Presidential Election would go down in the history of political campaigns in Nigeria, as the most dirty, the most obscene, the most shameful, and the most empty. No serious issues are discussed. But for Peter Obi, the Labour Party Candidate, none of them gets seriously interrogated.

Two candidates stand out like a rotten, smelly thumb in this gutter campaign – Atiku of the PDP, and  Tinubu.

Between the two, Nigeria has been stripped of every honour, every respect, every decency, every dignity, every credibility. They have ridiculed and shamed Nigeria. They have dragged Nigeria into the gutter before the international community. And they have disgraced and exposed themselves to ridicule, and stripped themselves naked in the market square. When one strips oneself naked in the market square, that display is permanent, it doesn’t matter how much one tries to wash it off.

It’s like a pig. My beautiful mother of the blessed memory always told us to be careful not to descend to the level of a pig because,  “wash a pig, dress a pig, a pig will always be a pig.”

There is no derogatory name under the sun that Atiku and Tinubu have not called each other. They have called each other murderer. Money launderer. Corrupt.  Crook. Drug addict. A convicted druggist. They have called each other a thief, a thief ten times over. They have called each other the male equivalent of a free woman, parading in the red street. They have punched at each other’s preferred sexuality. They have even dragged their wives and concubines in. They have mocked each other’s health status.

The question is: What remains of both Atiku and Tinubu?

The International Community must be having a good laugh at our dear country. It is not like Nigeria’s reputation was anywhere before now. Was it not before us, before the world, and before our President, Muhammadu Buhari, that a former British Prime Minister, David Cameron, dismissed  Nigeria as “fantastically corrupt”? The President had no answer. You would think he would lodge a complaint at such insult. But Buhari apparently agreed with Mr Cameron, and since then, the antenna has been raised. Our reputation has kept going down the drain. Our dignity too.

Two of our three Presidential front-runners, have worsened it. In saner climes, both Atiku and Tinubu would have stood down from the race, or be forced to stand down over what they have done to each other, and by extension, our country.

Heads of Governments, world over, must be biting their fingers and wondering how they would handle Nigeria if either Atiku or Tinubu wins the Presidency.  They will be at pains over what to do with a President who has been stripped naked in a market square. They must be wondering how they will sit in the same room with a President so dirty. So corrupt. So bereft of any dignity. What is wrong with these men and their handlers?  What sin did Nigeria and Nigerians commit against them?

Yet, Dino Melaye’s public display this other day at the PDP Presidential Campaign Rally takes the cake. It is beneath contempt.

Of course, there have always been strong doubts over the health status of Bola Tinubu. And he doesn’t help himself at Campaign rallies. His handlers have not been able to get him to stick to the script. Or teach him how to talk. Or what to say and what not to say.

His constant attack on President Muhammadu Buhari’s policies is not likely to do him any good. His denial of what he said, immediately thereafter, does him no good either. He should stand by what he said. Nobody is putting words into his mouth. And so does his constant mocking of Governors and candidates.

He had mocked Peter Obi. He said that one “has no status”. When I read that, I said to myself that somebody should sit him down and read Obi’s Curriculum Vitae to him, in case he is too busy to read it himself. He mocked Funke Akindele, the Deputy Governorship candidate of the PDP in Lagos. It is not that Akindele and his boss stand a chance against Babajide Sanwo-Olu in Lagos, but she is not a nobody. The Lady is proudly one of Nigeria’s best actors, one of Nigeria’s best script writers, and one of Nigeria’s best cinematographers. Of good and unquestionable parentage and education, you cannot ask your supporters not to mention her name before you. Say wetin happen? That’s saucy and rude and inelegant.

And, it was, also, indecent of Tinubu to go to Governor Udom Emmanuel’s State, Akwa Ibom,  and call him “boy”, and then threaten to use black magic against him – lizards, scorpions, pigeons to chase him out of his home.  So, on top everything that they allege against Tinubu, he is also a native doctor.

How will the International Community look at a President who threatened to send scorpions, lizards and pigeons after a political opponent. Such careless talks matter. Yet, none of these touches Dino’s irresponsible mocking of Asiwaju Tinubu at a Political   Rally this order day. It crossed the red line.

Addressing a mammoth crowd, Senator Dino Melaye threw decorum into the gutter when he openly mocked Tinubu over his alleged health. He held the microphone in his hands, and shook his hand vigorously just to confirm the suspicion that Tinubu is suffering from Parkinson disease. Then, he walked like a handicap and threw himself on the ground all in a demonstration of Tinubu’s health challenges.

And Dino did this twice. And people were looking at him, some laughing, some baffled,  instead of taking the microphone away from him, all because of politics?

For the records, Dino Melaye is a former Senator of the Federal Republic. Protocol -wise, a Senator comes before a Governor, ignore the fact that in Nigeria it is shamefully different. Most of our Senators bow and tremble before their State Governors. The Governors put them in office and remove them at will.

To think that a former Senator would publicly mock and demonstrate the alleged ill-health of one?

Not a few people are aware of Dino’s antics. He makes a number of people laugh, including me. He is one of the few people I will miss when this craze for Presidency is over. Another is Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State. But can somebody please tell Dino to remember that he prefixes his name with Senator, and respect that title?

Mocking one with one’s ill-health is a no-no. It is inhuman and insensitive and disgusting of the worst order. And that is putting it mildly.

Naira Redesign: LAHA Laments, Says Nigerians Are Suffering

0
Mudashiru Obasa

By Akinwale Kasali

Lawmakers of the Lagos State House of Assembly have shown concern about the sufferings Nigerians are going through over the Naira redesign policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa led LAHA said that the policy has brought mass suffering on the citizens of the country while the economy is in danger.

The Lawmakers noted that even though the policy was a good one, its timing was wrong as it has further thrown the country into economic chaos which could become difficult to resolve if urgent steps are not taken.

The CBN has announced a 10-day extension of the deadline for currency swap at the weekend, but at a sitting on Tuesday, the lawmakers urged the CBN to extend the deadline for currency swap as the policy had not helped the country.

Obasa noted that the concern of the lawmakers had to do with the pains, anguish and anger spreading among Nigerians over their inability to access the new currency.

“Economists have said most times you cannot use new currency to control inflation, it doesn’t achieve the purpose most times,” Obasa said adding that the intention of the policy as claimed by CBN had been defeated owing to the various complaints from experts and people across the country.

The Speaker said the CBN should have engaged stakeholders while citizens should have been adequately carried along rather than an ‘over-night’ policy by the CBN.

“There are people in the rural areas. It is obvious that the additional 10 days is not even going to be enough.

“The idea is a good one but the way it is being implemented will have an adverse effect on the people.

“We need to commend the National Assembly for showing quality representation and prompt action to intervene for an extension of the deadline.”

The Speaker said that in other countries, old currencies are not discarded in a rush, but allowed to gradually fade out of the system.

Hon. Rotimi Olowo, the lawmaker representing Somolu Constituency 1 who moved the motion, sought for an extension of the deadline till July 2023 in line with the resolution of the National Assembly, while noting the suffering the policy had brought on Nigerians.

Olowo complained about the unavailability of the new notes and the effect on the people, including small business owners and those in rural areas.

Contributing to the motion, Hon. Saka Solaja, chairman of the House committee on public account for state, argued that financial policies are not implemented the way the CBN had gone about the Naira redesign.

“We see videos of people beating themselves mercilessly at ATMs, yet there is no money,” he lamented while supporting the call for an extension of the deadline by the CBN.

On his part, Hon. Richard Kasunmu (Ikeja II) argued that the timing of the policy was not right, especially as the country was still grappling with challenges of effective internet connectivity.

He recalled how he spent five hours a day earlier trying to make an electronic transfer of ₦55,000 to resolve an emergency situation.

“We should be looking at the larger Nigerian people. If we want to survive the Nigerian economy, this should not be a good time for such policy,” he said.

While Hon. Victor Akande (Ojo 1), argued that Emefiele breached a part of the CBN Act concerning the policy, Hon. Setonji David noted: “All over the world, CBN governors are economists, not bankers like Emefiele.

“Our people are suffering and the money can’t be found at the ATMs. If you go to the ATMs, you would see how people are struggling,” he lamented.

The motion was passed by the Speaker after a voice vote of all the members at the sitting.

Nigeria Decides: Jonathan Roots For Peter Obi

Peter Obi

By Charles Igbo

For equity and justice, Nigerians have been asked to queue behind, and support the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.

The Peoples Democratic Party’s dissident Governors, the G5, in particular, and Senator Chimaroke Nnamani, have been asked to give Obi maximum support.

This call was made by a Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain in Enugu State, Emmanuel Jonathan. He is, incidentally, an aide to the Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, who is a member of the Rivers State Governor Wike led G5.

But Mr Jonathan, in a Press Release in Enugu said he was speaking as an aide to Governor Ugwuanyi, but as a PDP chieftain.

Jonathan, also, chided the leadership of the PDP and insisted that it “lacks the constitutional and moral backing to punish any member of the party over alleged anti-party activities.”

He pointed out that the leadership of the party is also “in breach of Section 7, sub section 3c (Aims and Objectives) of the constitution (as amended in 2017) which states that the party shall pursue its aims and objectives by adhering to the policy of the rotation and zoning of Party and Public elective offices in pursuance of the principle of equity, justice and fairness.”

Jonathan pointed out “that if truly the G5 Governors and Senator Chimaroke Nnamani are fighting the injustice in the PDP, they should channel their support to Peter Obi of the Labour Party who is actually from the zone whose turn it is to produce the occupant of Nigeria’s presidential seat.”

He said, “Anything short of supporting Peter Obi’s presidential ambition by the G5 Governors and Senator Chimaroke Nnamani is an act of personal interest and not a people-based interest which is not good for them as leaders.

“This is also because the Southwest and South-South have on different occasions produced the occupants of Nigeria’s presidential seat in the persons of General Olusegun Obasanjo and Dr. Goodluck Jonathan since the return of democracy in 1999.

“Deciding to support Senator Bola Tinubu by Senator Nnamani is not in defence of justice but his personal interest. The G5 Governors and Senator Chimaroke Nnamani should read the body language of Nigerians to understand what the people want now, and the sentiment of the people across the country is to vote for someone with sound health and capacity to change Nigeria for the better bearing in mind the level of suffering in the country at the moment.

“What Nigerians want now is to vote for someone that will entrench good leadership, enhance peaceful cohesion, equity, justice and fairness. Peter Obi encompasses all these qualities.”

Jonathan emphasised that his view was anchored on the principle of equity, and noted: “the NWC must act according to the dictates of the constitution of the party (2017 as amended) for it to be obeyed.

“Therefore, based on the dictates of section 7, sub section 3c of the PDP constitution 2017 as amended, it is obvious that the flagbearer of the party in the 2023 presidential election is supposed to come from the Southern part of Nigeria with special focus to the South East zone, considering the fact that a Northerner from North West is currently occupying the seat of the presidency.

“This is why I personally decided to back the presidential ambition of Mr. Peter Obi and his running mate, Sen. Yousuf Datti-Baba Ahmed of the Labour Party, despite being a PDP member, as a protest to the injustice meted against the Southeast zone and the non-adherence to the dictates of the PDP Constitution 2017 on rotation and zoning of Party and Public elective offices.

“To further strengthen my position, I wholeheartedly accepted my nomination to be the Director General of the Obi-Datti Apostles Presidential Campaign Support Group, whose objective among others is to preach the message of hope that the Obi-Datti presidency will bring to the table.”

Tinubu Threatens Gov Emmanuel With Black Magic; PDP Calls Him Senile, Fit For Jail

0

By Charles Igbo

The Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu,  has threatened to use black magic on the Governor of Akwa Ibom State to get him out of the way.

Tinubu lives on Bourdillion Road, Ikoyi Lagos State, and Emmanuel, according to Tinubu leaves “in his backyard.”

While Tinubu is of the APC, Udom is of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, and is the Chairman of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council.

Apparently good neighbours until politics drove them apart, Tinubu is no longer comfortable with the Governor as his neighbour.

So, on a campaign to Uyo Akwa Ibom State, Tinubu threatened to use black magic on Udom to chase him out of his house but for the fact that “we are one”

Tinubu: “Akwa Ibom, that boy wey bring Atiku here, wey dey call himself Governor, tell him enough is enough. He lives in my backyard in Lagos. If no be say we be one, I would have driven him home. You see that mansion he is living, I would just use Lizards, pigeons and scorpions and put inside.”

But the PDP, Akwa Ibom has taken exception to Tinubu’s choice of words, especially, for referring to the Governor as “that boy who calls himself Governor.”

In its reaction in a statement signed by Publicity Secretary, Borono Bassey, the PDP called Tinubu senile and dismissed him as one who should be spending time in jail.

The Party went further to dismiss the APC Presidential Candidate “as senile, ancestor and a tragedy that must not be allowed to befall Nigerians Tinubu should be serving a life sentence for his “momentous indictment in a drug cartel’s dealings in the United States, which led to his forfeiture of $460,000 in 1993.”

Titled “Tinubu and his non compos mentis remarks on Governor Udom Emmanuel signed on Tuesday by the Akwa Ibom State Publicity Secretary of PDP, Mr Borono Bassey the PDP said:

“We have watched the video of the Campaign Speech by the “microphone-tasting” Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress – Mr Bola Tinubu – wherein he described our highly celebrated and revered Governor, His Excellency, Mr Udom Emmanuel as a “small boy who lives at his backyard in Lagos” during his visit to Uyo Akwa Ibom State.

“It is indeed sad that Nigerians, including Akwa Ibom people, have been forced to bear the excruciating pains of watching a senile and entitled centenarian who should be serving a life sentence for his momentous indictment in a drug cartel’s dealings in the United States, which led to his forfeiture of $460,000 in 1993.

“Today, hundreds of millions of Nigerians and even members of the international community, hold the consensus opinion that the decision by this decrepit, staggering-old and baggage-laden man to put one of his entitled “leprous” foot on the same staircase which law-abiding, clean and morally upright Nigerians have stepped their foot on, to communicate their desire to ascend the Presidency of this Nation, has completely desecrated the entire staircase and, therefore, attracting ridicule to this Nation.

“Little wonder, many chieftains of his party all over Nigeria who ordinarily should lead Tinubu campaigns from the front, have decided to stand on the right side of history by refusing to touch his leprous-laden ambition even with a ten-foot pole.

“We understand Mr Tinubu’s grief to have stepped into Akwa Ibom soil and to physically confirm with his eyes, the diverse imposing testimonials that speak eloquently of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s years of visionary stewardship to Akwa Ibom people thereby elevating Governor Emmanuel to the coveted pedestal of one of the top most celebrated Governors in Nigeria at this time.

“We can also wager that the enticing altitude which our State soars in, reminds him in a tragic manner, his failure to have forcefully snatched Akwa Ibom State in 2019 and annex it to the list of his failed hegemonies.

“Our Party shares in the strong sentiments of Nigerians and Akwa Ibom people that the collective destinies of our people can never be handed over to a man whose actions, utterances and dispositions have sold him out as a Non compos mentis.

“Akwa Ibom people since the return of democratic rule have had a pact with the Peoples Democratic Party and this pact, we are confident,  will stretch several years beyond 2023.

“We are energized and emboldened by the growing resolve of Nigerians and all Akwa Ibom people to never allow the tragedy of a Tinubu’s Presidency fall on us this year or ever in our history as a Nation. We urge Mr Tinubu to clear his throat and sit and wait patiently for the “breakfast” of tears that Nigerians will serve him in a few weeks from today.”

Nigeria Decides: Tinubu Is Empty – Governor Emmanuel

0

By Akinwale Kasali

Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom State has taken a swipe at the All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying that he has nothing to offer Nigerians, which is why he abuses people.

Udom said that he would rather allow peace to reign than exchanging words with a Presidential Candidate that has nothing to bring to the table for Nigerians.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chieftain said that all the insults, tantrums and jibes thrown at him by Tinubu holds no water, as he sees him as a man who has nothing to offer.

He made this assertion at the Government House, Uyo , while inaugurating newly appointed Permanent Secretaries, Chairmen and Members of Boards and Commissions, as well as a Transition Committee to ensure the smooth transition of power to the next administration.

Tinubu, former Lagos State Governor had during his rally in Uyo on Monday, reportedly said, “Akwa Ibom, that boy wey bring Atiku here, wey de call himself Governor, tell him enough is enough! He lives in my backyard in Lagos, If no be say we be one, I would have driven him home. You see that mansion he is living, I would just use lizards, pigeons and scorpions to put him inside.“

Responding to Tinubu’s speech, Udom said, “for the country to remain in peace, one party must ‘play saint’ and that is why he would refrain from replying Tinubu.

Speaking further, the Chairman of the PDP presidential campaigns said, “I also go to other states, and if you watch our campaigns, my principal (Atiku Abubakar) has never spoken about any Governor, he has never spoken openly about Asiwaju before.”

He added that it was unfortunate that Tinubu, who was granted state-owned facilities such as the airport, security, stadium, and a good atmosphere to come in and sell his manifesto, ended up coming to insult the integrity of over 7.9 million Akwa Ibom people.

He  wondered if it is possible for any Akwa Ibomite to go to Lagos that Tinubu stays or the actual state that he hails from, to insult Tinubu in like manner and still be allowed to safely return home, “but here our people at the stadium including some state governors just laughed and applauded him.”

“What makes him think he will govern Nigeria? If I reply him now, people will call me and say, haba oga you are not like that. But I will reply him one day. There is nothing like ‘emilokan’ (it is my turn) here, Nigeria is in God’s hands.”

He maintained further that despite being the highest revenue contributor to the federation account, Akwa Ibom State has not gotten a single kilometre of road from the APC-led Federal Government for nearly 8 years adding that the poor response from the Federal Government also caused the delayed commencement of the seaport in the state.
