Osun Poll: PSC Constitutes Team To Monitor Police performance

Deputy Inspector General Police,  (DIG), Taiwo Lakanu is leading a high-powered monitoring delegation to Osun State ahead of the August 15, 2026 Governorship Electio

 

The Police Service Commission, ( PSC), which constituted the delegation, warned police personnel against misconduct before, during and after the polls.

 

Lakanu, a Board Member and Chairman of the PSC Standing Committee on Police Matters, and his team are expected to monitor the conduct of Police officers deployed for election duties across the State.

 

In a statement, the Head of Protocol and Public Relations, Torty Njoku Kalu, said the deployment is aimed at ensuring that police personnel strictly adhere to the principles guiding election duties and maintain the highest standards of discipline and professionalism.

The Commission said it is committed to strengthening public confidence in the electoral process by ensuring that police conduct remains impartial, rule-based and civil throughout the election period.

 

The PSC urged all officers deployed to Osun State to remain apolitical, respect the rights of citizens and ensure that voters are allowed to exercise their franchise freely and peacefully.

 

The Commission also issued a strong warning that it would not hesitate to sanction any police officer found compromising the credibility or integrity of the election.

 

The PSC stressed that its monitoring team would closely observe police conduct and ensure compliance with established standards throughout the electoral process
