Ovie Omo-Agege, former Deputy Senate President at the Eighth Assembly has, allegedly, escaped attempted assassination by armed men who attacked him alongside members of the National Democratic Congress, NDC.
It was gathered that the attack happened during a political engagement in Usiefrun, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State on Thursday, August 13, 2026. It was a ward-to-ward consultation involving Omo-Agege, the NDC Governorship Candidate, Chris Iyovwaye, and other Party leaders.
Eyewitness report stated that the attackers opened fire on party supporters who had gathered to welcome the delegation, leaving six NDC members injured.
The NDC Members injured were: Joshua Oghenetega Oyibocha, Believe Biadoyo, Owhos Peter and Ojiyovwin Dennis, alongside two party members.
The former Senator, said eye-witness accounts and video footage, identified four persons as being behind the attack.
He named them as, allegedly, Simon Mudi, also known as “Temple”, a protocol officer to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Flash Oghenetega Origbo, Ochuko Origbon, and Alex Awherhurho.
This development has prompted Omo-Agege to call on the Inspector-General of Police and Delta State Commissioner of Police to investigate the incident and prosecute anyone found responsible.
He also urged his supporters not to retaliate, insisting that NDC would continue its grassroots mobilisation across Delta Central despite the attack.
