The Social Democratic Party, SDP, former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, his supporters and the entire Party faithfuls in Nasarawa State have been thrown into mourning following the death of Mohammed’s six supporters who lost their lives in a fatal auto crash.
It was gathered that the victims died around the Lafia Flyover on Monday, September 14, while on their way to Awe Local Government Area of the state.
The death of the SDP supporters was announced by Otaru Douglas, Director of Media and Strategic Communications for Adamu Campaign Organization.
Though Douglas stated that he was not authorized to issue an official statement, the Campaign Organisation, and all supporters are in mourning.
He described the incident as a tragic accident that could happen to anyone, while offering prayers for the deceased and the injured.
“The best I can say is for God to repose the souls of those who died and grant quick recovery to those who sustained varying degrees of injuries.
“The IGP and his wife are fully with the families of the deceased. We are praying that the passage of their children or their loved ones will mark the beginning of peace and progress in their lives.”
He also confirmed six fatalities in the unfortunate incident.
“Reportedly, I was told six. Yes, reportedly, I was told six. But for now, there are those who sustained injuries”, he stated.
He also confirmed that the victims were on their way to Awe for a political programme at the time of the accident.
In solidarizing and mourning with the SDP, the Nasarawa State Government and the State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, have expressed deep grief over the death of the victims.
The State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Nawani Aboki, described the incident as sad and unfortunate, and
condoled with the former IGP and the families of the deceased.
Also, in a condolence statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Augustine Ogaba, the Party, under the leadership of its Chairman, Dr. Aliyu Bello, said it received the news of the tragedy with profound shock and sadness.
Ogaba described the incident as a deeply painful development that has plunged families, friends, and the wider community into mourning.
“The APC, Nasarawa State Chapter extends its heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased, the leadership and supporters of the group, and all those affected by this tragic incident.
“At this difficult moment, our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families and all those affected by this tragedy. We pray that Almighty God grant the departed eternal rest and give their loved ones the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
The APC further wished those injured in the accident a speedy and complete recovery, while praying for divine protection against future occurrences.
