The Vice Presidential Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC,  said a big disappointment awaits state Governors who are banking on federal might and manipulative potential of their new political abode to secure victory in the 2027 general elections.

Many Governors who, in 2023, were elected on different political platforms, have, in the last couple of months defected to the ruling party at the centre-the All Progressive Congress, APC, in a move not a few have come to perceive as survivalist strategy ahead of the 2027 polls.

But on a NAN personality interview on Sunday , Kwankwaso, a former Governor of Kano state insisted that most of the Governors may not be able to have their way as they are expecting.

Particularly, the leader of the Popular Kwankwasiyya Movement said Governors who have woefully failed to identify and solve the essential needs of their people will discover to their chagrin that no election manipulative measures will save them from crushing political defeat.

According to him, some Governors who have failed to address their constituents’ concerns defected to the the APC for cover.

But he strongly believe that the expected ” cover” will not, after all, come their way in the face of the excruciating economic situation facing the people, worsening insecurity , unemployment and decaying infrastructural facilities.

“What I foresee in the 2027 general elections is that most of the Governors seeking re-election will be disappointed because people will not support them”, Kwankwaso stated.

He noted that there is a growing level of frustration in the country, with overwhelming majority rooting for a change, a development which he insisted will make it all the more difficult for incumbent Governors to rig their way into power.

The NDC Presidential running mate expressed serious disappointment over the growing number of opposition political figures now seeking sanctuary in the ruling party, describing the trend as driven not by collective interests, but the anticipated selfish fortunes of political actors.

However, he expressed an unwavering optimism that in the end the electorate will determine the outcome of the elections.l
