Some members of the Zamfara state House of Assemby have resigned fromthe ruling All Progressives Congress,APC, citing lack of cohesion and unity in the party.
The lawmakers, who sent their letters of resignation to the party on Sunday, are six in number, they also accused the party of deception, saying they could no longer remain in the ruling party in the state.
The six lawmkers who resigned fromthe APC include Those who resigned from APC included Bashir Abubakar, Aliyu Ango Kagar, Nasiru Abdullahi, Mukhtar Nasiru Jikan Shehu and Faruk Dosara and Ibrahim Tukur,
The angry lawmakers also cited the persistent insecurity in the state as one ofthe maajor reasons why they resigned their membership, saying they took the decision after wide consutation with the ir supporters and major stakeholders in the state.
one of the lawmakers, Ibrahim Tukur,in his letter cited by the magazine accused the governor oghe state, Dauda Lawal of poor leadership,saying the state under his watch, has faced uncertainties, injustice whle the adminsitration failed to tackle the security situation in the state head-on.
Tukur, however, appreciate the cooperation through out the period h was a member of the APC.
His resignation,he stressed,iswith immediate effect.
Tukur: “This decision came up after careful and wide consultations due to lack of unity among the party stakeholders in the state, deception, uncertainties, injustice and inability of the government to overcome the security situation in my constituency, state at large and above all nonchalant attitude, poor leadership of the Governor.
“I am very grateful to the leadership and members of the party for their support and cooperation throughout my stay in the party.
The magazine reports that the Governor of the state was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP until few months ago when he dumped his former party for the APC.
Those close tohim said the reason why he joined the ruling party was simply because he believed the federalgovernment willassist the state tacklethe prevaling security problems in the state, majorly banditry and terrorism.
Zamfara is one of the epicentres of terrorism and banditry in the country.
