The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Lagos State Chapter, has stated that its attention has been drawn to a report on ARISE News Thursday which alleged that the display of the Register of Voters did not take place at some Registration Area centres in Alimosho and Shomolu Local Government Areas.
Dismissing the report, Esther Emeh,
Head, Voter Education and Publicity Department, in a statement said that the Commission categorically states that the report is false and does not reflect the actual situation.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the display of the Register of Voters was conducted across all 245 Registration Areas (Wards) in Lagos State, including all Registration Areas in Alimosho and Shomolu Local Government Areas.
“The Commission therefore urges members of the public to disregard this misleading report and obtain accurate information through INEC’s official communication channels.
“INEC Lagos State also urges media organizations and practitioners to verify information from credible and authoritative sources before disseminating it to the public.
“Responsible journalism and accurate reporting are essential to preventing the spread of misinformation and maintaining public confidence in the electoral process.
“INEC Lagos State remains committed to transparency, credible electoral processes, and the timely dissemination of accurate information to the public”.
