A former governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose deserves more from the Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, his appointment as the Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency, REA is too smal for his status, according to his younger brother, Isaac Fayose.
The younger Fayose cum bussinessman made the remark in a viral video he shared on his social media page on Monday followig the announcement by the Nigerian Presidency that the former governor has been appointed by President Tinubu to head the agency.
The former Ekiti helmsman was among 26 other Nigerians whose appintment were announced yesterady by the Nigerian government.
Tinubu had named the former governor and 25 others into the leadership of 10 federal agencies and commissions.
According to a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Fayose would chair the board alongside Ahmadu Abubakar and Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta as non-executive directors, with the agency’s incumbent Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three executive directors retained.
However, Isaac, who has been at loggerhead with his brother for some time over family related issues, said his elder brother deserves more, having served as a two-time governor describing the appointment as a “Greek Gift.”
According to him, there are other appointments, such as, ministrial and ambassadorial appointments that his brother should have been consired for, wondering also why it’s coming at this time.
Was the appointment related to the meeting he(Isaac) had with the 2027 Presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC Peter Obi? he queried.
The magazine reports that Obi met Isaac recently in Abuja, the nation’s capital to iron out some issues with him.
He urged the former governor not to accept the appointment.
“They said they gave my brother a DG, DG, not a minister, not ambassador,” he said sarcastically.
“They said they gave him DG, head of parastatal, chairman of a committee. They no see give him minister, they no give him ambassador.
“Even Reno Omokri sef, they gave him ambassador. They couldn’t give my brother ambassador. “So why just chairman of a parastatal?”
He wondered why the former governor has turned back on his earlier promsie not to accept appointment from the All Progerssives Congress, APC adminsitration.
The former governor said to him, he claimed, ‘Isaac, when I’m leaving this government house, whenever I leave this government house, I will not be a minister, I will not be DG, I will not be senator, I will not be anything. I will face my business.’”
He urged the former governor to reject the appointment, saying such is only deserving of his son, describing him as a ‘kingmaker” who doesn’t need that ‘kind of appointment”.
“I know you will not take this. But if you take it, who am I? Who am I?
“Congrats on your appointment. You better give your son. Please, do
