AAU Rusticates 27 Medical Students For Alleged Exam Fraud

The Edo State-owned  Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, has approved the rustication of 27 medical students for alleged examination misconduct and impersonation.

The affected students, who are mainly from the departments of Medicine and Surgery, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science, Anatomy and Human Physiology, are in 300, 400 and 500 levels.

They were rusticated for between two and four semesters respectively, and their rustication takes effect from 2025/2026 academic session.

The University’s Registrar, Mrs. Oluwayomi Agbebaku, in a statement on Thursday, disclosed that the erring students were recommended for the disciplinary measure by the institution’s Mobile Disciplinary Committee of the College of Medicine for 2024/2025.

She added that the affected students

would not be allowed to take part in both internal and external examinations until the period of rustication has been served.

Other punishments are that the course of some of the students should not be upgraded, while the result of one of them should not be computed until the period of rustication has been served.

One of the accused students was however exonerated and his mobile phone was returned to him after stern warning.
