Why VP Shettima Does Not Wear The ‘Asiwaju Tinubu Cap’ – Baba-Ahmed

Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the Labour Party Vice-Presidential Candidate in the 2023 Elections has told Nigerians why Vice President, Kashim Shettima does not wear “the Asiwaju Tinubu Cap”

The Cap, exclusively President Bola Tinubu’s “signature”, has become so popular that it is a sin, almost, for politicians and others who are loyal to the President not to wear it. It has become a symbol of loyalty, some people say of sycophancy – to the extent that a South-south Governor made it compulsory for his executive council members to wear the Cap on every particular day of the week or stand fired.

However, one close political ally of the President who has never been seen wearing the Cap is Vice President Kashim Shettima. While many people have neither taken any serious notice of it, or have chosen not to read any meaning into it, Baba-Ahmed has sensationally told Nigerians why.

Baba-Ahmed, who has, suddenly, according to some political watchers, developed a diareah of the mouth, told not a few shocked Nigerians that VP Shettima’s decision not to wear it is spiritual. 

In an interview with  broadcaster Seun Okinbaloye on theMic On Podcast, Baba-Ahmed claimed that Shettima was advised by his Islamic Marabout not to wear the cap which is associated with President Tinubu. “I think his marabout said he should not wear it. People should ask him why he does not wear the Asiwaju cap.”

He, however, did not present any evidence to back his claims.
