A former Governor of Gombe state Danjuma Goje has disclosed that he’s not planning to defect to the African Democratic Congress, ADC contrary to suggestions in some political quarters, saying he will not abandon the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Goje, now a senator said what is paramount in his mind is to deliver his state to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, saying the president lost the state in 2023 because critical stakeholders of the party were ignored.
The former governor’s remark is contained in a statement by his Special Assistant, Ahmed Isa Kashere, amidst a viral video online claiming he has obtained the ADC membership card.
According to Goje, the “fake membership” was another botched attempt by his traducers, who had in the past, failed to mobilized his constituents against him, saying his people have shown confidence in him by electing back to the Nigerian Senate.
He said he’s a member of the APC soul, body and spirit, that the ongoing efforts to blackmail him will not change the peoples mind to continue to support him.
“The attention of the Office of Senator Mohammad Danjuma Goje, Sarkin Yakin Gombe has been drawn to a fake membership card circulating on social media. Preliminary investigation reveals that it was the handiwork of ingrates in Gombe State to tarnish the image and portray Senator Goje in a bad light.
“The fake membership card was a last resort of these ingrates after failing to mobilise constituents against the people’s Senator. Twice, they mobilised their cronies from the Yamaltu/Deba and Akko LGAs of Gombe Central Senatorial District. But to their dismay, the people shamed them as they unanimously endorsed Senator Goje for another term in the Senate.
“Senator Goje remains a founding member of APC in Gombe State and the country. He is APC, APC is Goje in Gombe State. The cheap blackmail and negative machinations by the ingrates and their cronies will not stop the good people of Gombe Central and indeed Gombe State from their massive support for Senator Goje.”
The Senator, as one of the founding members of the APC has been with the party since 2013.
