United States President,(US), Donald Trump has announced that American flags would be flown at half-staff across for one week in honour of the music icon, Dolly Parton.
He expressed grief over the death of the legendary country music star, describing her passing as a major loss to millions of people around the world.
The directive was contained in a message shared on his Truth Social account and later amplified by the White House on X.
Trump described Parton as one of the greatest country singers of all time and praised her unique contribution to music and popular culture.
He said her death represented an enormous loss and paid tribute to her enduring global influence.
The presidential tribute came shortly after Parton’s death was announced at the age of 80. Her nephew, Bryan Seaver, reportedly confirmed the development in a post on Instagram.
Parton, who was born on January 19, 1946, in Tennessee, rose from humble beginnings as one of 12 children to become one of the most celebrated entertainers in the world.
She began performing as a child and moved to Nashville after completing high school in 1964. Her debut album, Hello, I’m Dolly, was released in 1967, marking the beginning of a career that lasted more than six decades.
