Speculations that the Iranians may have unwittingly shot down the Ukrainian Aircraft the crashed minutes after take off appears to have been proved right if various reports monitored by this magazine is to be believed.
A Boeing 737 aircraft belonging to Ukraine crashed near an Airport in Tehran immediately after takeoff killing all passengers and crew onboard hours after Iran fired more than a dozen missiles to two American Military bases in Iraq. There was no casualties.
Initially, the Iranian Aviation authorities claimed the crash was due to technical faults, but when opinion swelled on how they reached the conclusion without having analyzed the black box, they retracted the statement. But they insisted that the Black box, which has been retrieved, will not be sent to Boeing, who are the Manufacturers, as is usually the custom, in what analysts described as suspicion that America will tamper with the results since Boeing is an American Company.
But Ukrainian authorities, who by right are expected to be part of the crash investigations, are beginning to voice their suspicion. American President, Donald trump reportedly said that he has a feeling that the crash was a mistake. “Somebody could have made a mistake”, he told White House Reporters. But he did not elaborate.
Now, Newsweek Magazine, an American magazine, quoting several sources from both U.S. and Iraq, reports that the plane may have been brought down by a surface to air missile from Iran. They quoted a Pentagon official and a senior American Intelligence official as sources. The Magazine claimed that the aircraft was hit by a Tor-MI surface-to-missile system.Us officials, however, are quoted as saying that they are now confident that the Ukrainian plane was shot down by an Iranian Missile, citing satellite data.
The Secretary of the Ukrainian Security Council said Thursday that they are pursuing the theory that the Airline may have come in contact with a Russian manufactured Tor MI system.
The plane did not seek help from the control tower before crashing.
Iran has promised Ukraine full access to investigations.
