A University Professor is in trouble over his post on social media to the effect that tricycle riders earn more than Professors in his University.
For that post, the Abia State University, ABSU, has suspended one of its lecturers, Professor Nnamdi Nwaeze.
The suspension of the Professor who is of the Department of Economics, Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences, took immediate effect.
His problem stemmed from a post on his Facebook page where he claimed that some professors in ABSU earn less than N400,000 monthly.
Cumulatively, he reasoned, some tricyclists (Keke riders) earn higher than what professors earn in ABSU.
Irked by what it may have considered condescending, the Management ABSU suspended the Professor.
In suspending him, the University said that Professor Nwaeze’s social media posts are inimical to the interests of the institution.
Chijioke Nwogu, the Public Relations Officer/Deputy Registrar of the University signed the suspension letter wherin he said an investigative panel has been set up to examine the matter.
The statement, however, did not say whether the Professor Nweze was suspended because his claims were untrue or because they projected the University in bad light.
