The yet-to-be completed Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway  has been renamed after President Bola Tinubu.

It is the longest road to be named after any Nigerian – dead or alive.

The road which construction began under the President Tinubu’s administration is 750 kilometres long.

Renaming the road which estimated cost of construction is N15 trillion on Thursday, July 16, 2026, Umahi said it was a dream conceived by the President 27 years ago.

Umahi: “By the power conferred on me as the Honourable Minister of Works, and in consultation with the Permanent Secretary, the Minister of State, the Directors and the entire Staff of the Ministry, we have decided to name the entire Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“This is a dream that Mr President had about 27 years ago.”

The construction started in 2024.

It is not known yet if the President will accept the honour or not. The Highway is one of his administration’s legacy projects.
