An attempt by alleged bandits to kidnap innocent travellers along the Ugbokolo–Aokpe Road in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State ended in a sour note for the criminals as they were overpowered and apprehended by the youths of the community.
No sooner had the bandits struck than youths from the community mobilized and launched a search operation. During the effort, three of the suspected kidnappers were apprehended and the victims were rescued.
Security experts are of the view that standing united and resolute against criminal elements by communities across the country can significantly improve local security.
