A family in Minna, Niger State, is distraught. The family is searching for its twin children who were kidnapped by its private security guard.
The security guard, inexplicably, kidnapped his boss’s two children during the Sallah celebrations.
Reports say he had, on the pretext of taking them out for Sallah, kidnapped them to the shock of their parents and neighbours.
The two children are aged six years.
This very sad incident happened on Sunday afternoon, May 31, in the Brighter area of Minna.
Their heartbroken father, Alhaji Danjuma, a businessman, narrated that he returned home and noticed that his twin children, and his security guard were missing.
Reports indicate that in the absence of Danjuma, his guard, Sani Abdulrahman, allegedly, a Fulanin, took his twins out on a motorcycle which he, the children’s father, had given him as a gift. He had claimed, say eyewitnesses, that he was taking them for Eid/Salah celebration in town.
However, that was the last time the children were seen. When they did not return, the family embarked on a search in hospitals across Minna, thinking they had been involved in an accident.
They discovered, later, to their shock, that their otherwise trusted security guard, had kidnapped their twins, and that they were now in the hands of suspected kidnappers.
According to Danjuma, he was contacted later in the evening, by phone to be told that his children were in Erena Forest, Shiroro LGA, Niger State. The callers demanded an undisclosed amount of money in ransom for the children’s release.
A completely devastated and distraught Danjuma has appealed to the Niger State Government and security agencies to help him and secure the safe of his children while asking the public to pray for the family.
The Niger State Police PPRO SP Wasiu Abiodu Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident and said it occurred at about 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2026.
He said that the security guard pretended that he was taking the children out for Salah celebration but disappeared with them.
Investigations, he said, are is ongoing to locate the children and arrest the devilish security guard.
Yet, the questions remain: Why did the family leave their six-year-old twins alone with a security guard? Where were other members of the family.
