After keeping loyalists waiting at the Government House, Rivers State, on Thursday, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, as hinted by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike in his interview with Channels Television Thursday night,  arrived Port Harcourt, the State capital.

Fubara arrived at the Port Harcourt International Airport at about 12:19 p.m., Friday.

The Governor was welcomed by supporters who waited at the VIP wing of the Airport for his arrival.

While the House of Assembly resumed sitting Thursday, Fubara did not show up at the Government House, despite the hundreds of supporters who gathered to welcome him.

Fubara and his Deputy, Dr. Ngozi Odu, had been away from the governance of the state for six months, after President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in the State on March 18, citing serious political crisis which was rising to high heavens and overheating the system.

Speaking to journalists at the Government House, Fubara thanked the people of the State for their cooperation and support even during the emergency rule.

He said, “I’m really humbled by what I saw at the airport.

“That reception really humbled me. It showed love, confidence, and solidarity,” and added that the support “reflect the bond between the people and the State Government.”
