Propaganda: Terror Group Releases Obituary Video Of Killed Cameraman

Boko Haram has released an obituary video honouring one of its cameramen and videographers, Abu Salim al-Barnawi, who was killed by Nigerian troops during a failed assault on a military formation in Borno State.
The three-minute, three-second video, narrated in Arabic, offers a rare glimpse into the terrorist group’s propaganda machinery. It shows Abu Salim filming operations and taking part in several missions carried out by the insurgents before his death.
According to the Acting Military Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Capt. Muhammed Goni, the deceased was not just a media operative. Before joining Boko Haram’s media wing, he reportedly led cross-border raids into neighbouring Cameroon.
Goni said the terrorist was killed last week when troops repelled an attack on a Nigerian military camp, dealing another blow to the group’s operational and propaganda network.
The latest development follows an earlier military operation in which troops of Operation Hadin Kai neutralised an ISWAP cameraman during a failed infiltration of Cross Kauwa in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Military authorities disclosed that intelligence recovered from the operation included video materials suggesting the presence of three foreign facilitators within the terrorist group, among them a Palestinian Arab said to be a trainer and a Moroccan Arab reportedly serving as a medical doctor.
Troops also recovered a Sony camcorder, rounds of PKT and 7.62mm Special ammunition, terrorist uniforms and other combat equipment after foiling the attack. According to the military, the insurgents had attempted to exploit the cover of darkness to overrun the position and loot cholera medical supplies.
