Imo: IPOB Discovers Crystal Meth Factories In Owerri

0
Nnamdi-Kanu - IPOB Leader

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, says it has discovered  factories where Crystal meth is produced in Orlu Local Government, LGA, in the state.

According to the Nnamdi Kanu-led group, 10 factories were discovered in Umuaka town alone where the hard drug is produced.

IPOB made the revelation in a statement issued by its spokesman Emma Powerful on Sunday, stressing that the group will do everything on its power to seriously deal with producers and distributors of dangerous and damaging illicit hard drug in the south east.

The group added further that those individuals who own the factories are rich and influential members of the community, returnees from South Africa whose major task is to destroy the youths in the region.

It said the cartel operates from the state where they distribute the illicit drugs to other parts of the country, including Kano, Lagos, Rivers, FCT amongst others.

Powerful said, “These drug factories were established by six individuals from the Umuaka Community who returned from South Africa. These drug dealers in South Africa have decided to return their drug business to South-East just to destroy Igbo youths,” Powerful stated.

“These notorious drug dealers who also own some hotels and night clubs in Owerri, Imo State, operate from these hotels to distribute their illicit drugs to other states, like Lagos, Kano, Rivers State, (Igweoch/Port Harcourt), Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, and other places in Nigeria.

“The violent crimes going on within Orlu (Local Government Area) in Imo State have nothing to do with the struggle for an independent Biafra Nation. Some of these drug dealing criminals claim to be agitating for the freedom of Biafra, while in reality, they are simply violent drug merchants.

“By this press release, IPOB is giving notice to those involved in the manufacture and distribution of Mkpurummiri in Orlu and their kinds anywhere else in Alaigbo to shut down their operations immediately. We have the identities of these involved and their accomplices.

“If you fail to adhere to this warning, IPOB will not only make your identities public but will also take every measure to ensure that your illicit drug business is terminated.”

APC and PDP

The tide seems to be in favour of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator Monday Okpebholo, as counting and sorting out of results of Saturday’s governorship election in Edo state progresses.

Already the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has verified results from 16 out of the 18 local governments of the state remaining just only two.

The electoral body has gone on recess and is expected to resume by 5.00pm later on Sunday for final collation of results.

APC is holding a comfortable lead with a wide margin following the announcement of election results from 16 local governments in the ongoing Governorship election of Edo State.

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has  rejected the governorship election results for Egor and Akoko Edo local governments, both of which were claimed by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

During a press briefing, PDP agent Osagbovo Iyoha alleged significant irregularities in the collation process, asserting that INEC manipulated the results to favour the APC.

He pointed out that the collation centre was relocated from the council headquarters, raising suspicions about the integrity of the process.

Iyoha claimed that PDP won in the LGA, adding that PDP agents were barred from the collation centre, while only APC representatives were allowed access.

He further claimed that the votes in Akoko Edo exceeded those captured by the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), suggesting possible tampering with the results.

In response, APC acting chairman, Jarret Tenabe, dismissed the PDP’s allegations, stating that the results accurately reflect the will of the people.

“It will go down as one of the worst Election held in the country” – Ighodalo

As results of  Saturday’s Governorship election in Edo state are still being awaited, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the election, Asue Ighodalo, has alleged irregularities in the exercise, saying it might go down as the “worst election in the history of this country”.

Addressing a press conference at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Situation Room in Benin City, on Sunday Ighodalo claimed that the PDP agents were not allowed into the collation centre.

Ighodalo, one of the leading candidates in the election, described the development as bad omen for Nigeria’s democracy

“From our perspective, the way these elections are going, they’re probably going to be the worst elections in the history of this country.

“We have information for instance, where we have over 20 polling units where the accredited voters are less than the total votes which is not possible.

“We have over 20 polling units from the results that were announced yesterday where from their accredited voters, the total votes that they’ve now announced are more than the accredited voters.”

The PDP candidate, who cited some polling units where the alleged irregularities took place, described it as “totally unacceptable.

“There’s something definitely going wrong. There’s a result writing scheme going on and it’s totally unacceptable.

“This process is unacceptable and then they’re trying to disenfranchise our collation agents.

“Like His Excellency, Umaru Fintiri who leads the party’s campaign organisation for the election, read, at every point, you find APC and their thugs supported by people dressed as security agents going to shoot at polling agents and disrupting processes.

“This is not acceptable in the 21st century. Definitely not in Nigeria. I think we’ve gone way past this.”

As results of the Saturday’s governorship election in Edo state are being awaited, a coalition of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room (NCSSR), has observed voter inducement at polling units (PUs) in the Saturday governorship election in Edo State.

“Situation Room observers reported widespread instances of blatant vote buying and selling across several polling units, despite the huge presence of security personnel.”

The group said in a statement co-signed by Yunusa Z. Ya’u, Mimidoo Achakpa and Franklin Oloniju.

“The price of votes ranged from ₦5,000 to ₦10,000 per voter in several locations, including PU08 and 09 Ward 2, Owan-East LGA; PU 02 Ward 2, Etsako-West LGA; and several polling units in Egor, Oredo and Owan-West LGAs.

“In some cases, voters were also induced with food items such as bread,” the group said.

The group, however, acknowledged the arrest of the alleged two vote traders in George Idah Primary School, Ward 2, Oredo Local Government Area.

This is just as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) directed its members and supporters in Edo State to follow the results of the Ed governorship election from the Polling Units to the Ward, Local Government and State Collation Centers.

According to the party, this is to prevent any manipulation or alteration by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

PDP spokesman, Debo Ologunagba stated that “Our Party demands that INEC ensures that all results as announced at the Polling Units are transparently uploaded to the  Server and duly declared at the Collation Centers in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022 and INEC Guidelines for the Edo State governorship election.

“The PDP counsels the APC to respect the Will of the people of Edo State as expressed at the Polling Units.

“The PDP commends the people of Edo State for their resilience in enforcing their Will at the Polling Units despite the schemes of the APC and charges them to remain at alert in readiness to firmly defend their votes as they await the declaration of the final result heralding our victory.”

Edo Election 2024

By Akinwale Kasali

A Coalition of Civil Society Organisations, CSOs, and the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room, NCSSR, have expressed disappointment at the conduct of the Edo Governorship Election.

The CSOs alleged that politicians openly bought votes from electorates for as low as N5000 and a loaf of bread.

The Situation Room observers said that there were widespread instances of blatant vote buying and selling across several polling units in the State despite the heavy  presence of Security Personnel.

It was gathered that the price of votes ranged from ₦5,000 to ₦10,000 per voter in several locations, including PU08 and 09 Ward 2, Owan-East LGA; PU 02 Ward 2, Etsako-West LGA; and several polling units in Egor, Oredo and Owan-West LGAs.

The Group made thia disclosure in a statement co-signed by Yunusa Z. Ya’u, Mimidoo Achakpa and Franklin Oloniju, saying that in some cases, Voters were induced with food items.

It, however, acknowledged that following several complaints by some electorates over the illicit Vote Buying, some Security Agents stormed the Polling Unit and arrested some vote traders in George Idah Primary School, Ward 2, Oredo Local Government Area.

The Situation Room also commended the peaceful conduct of voters and urged them to remain calm throughout the process.

PDP Accuses Police Chief Of Aiding Malpractices In Edo Gov Election

Benneth Igwe - AIG

By Ayodele Oni

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded that the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, immediately withdraws AIG Zone 7, Benneth Igwe from election duties in Edo State to avoid crisis.

The party said this in a statement on Saturday signed by  Debo Ologunagba, National Publicity Secretary.

According to the statement, “PDP’s demand is necessitated by allegation in a section of the media and across Edo State that the AIG has been reportedly positioned by the APC to provide cover for APC thugs to attack collation centers and compromise election results in favour of the APC.

“Reports further have it that the AIG allegedly held a meeting with some police personnel to effect the said plot after some patriotic military operatives dislodged and arrested APC armed thugs who invaded INEC office in Oredo Local Government Area last night with the intention of compromising the electoral materials for the area.

“Our Party therefore calls on the IGP to immediately recall the AIG to Abuja as his continued presence in Edo State is already causing apprehension in the State.

“The AIG must speak out and clear the air on this very weighty allegation against him in the public domain.”

Meanwhile, PDP commended the youths of Edo State “for their vigilance and courage in ensuring that the will of the people in this election is not subverted.

Gov Lawal Obstructing Ongoing Fed Govt Operation Against  Bandits, APC Demands

Dauda Lawal - Zamfra State Governor

By Suleiman Anyalewechi

With the festering banditry and other violent criminal activities in Zamfara exerting its toll on both human and capital resources, and with no sign of abetting in sight, the All Progressive Congress, APC, has called for the declaration of a state of emergency.

This is even as it has ridiculously accused the State Governor Dauda Lawal of deliberately undermining the Federal Government efforts at containing insecurity in the Zamfara.

The Party, however, insisted that the recent efforts of the President Bola Tinubu’s administration in halting banditry and other criminal activities are yielding positive results.

In a statement issued on Saturday, September 21, 2024, in Gusau, the State Capital, Publicity Secretary, APC Zamfara State Chapter, Yusuf Idris, noted that the ongoing onslaught against bandits and other terrorist groups by the Military in the North West Region has been recording a very unprecedented positive result.

The party particularly lauded the coordinating and general leadership efforts of the Minister for Defence (State) Dr Bello Matawalle, in the successes recorded in renewed battle against banditry.

The statement noted with delight that some banditry kingpins who had before now, perceived themselves as invincible or untouchable have started to capitulate

The APC ,however, regretted that Governor Lawal has been trying to undermine this modest gains recorded against banditry and insurgency by his resort to sponsoring Media attacks on the Minister of Defence.

“As a Party, we have observed with dismay how the Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, is trying to sabotage the ongoing onslaught through his media campaigns aimed at distracting the Federal Government’s efforts under the coordination of the Minister of State for Defence.

“The Governor has never, in any way, supported Military operations in the State in terms of logistics.

“Instead, he has been confrontational to the point where the military had to warn him to steer clear of their efforts to flush out bandits from the state and the North West.

“He is now bent on distracting the operation through media campaigns and propaganda ,risking the security of lives and properties of innocent Zamfara Citizens for political gains.

“This is why we are calling on the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency in Zamfara to thwart his mischievous plans,” the APC stated

The party is of the conviction, that the only way the ongoing onslaught against banditry and terrorist activities in the State can be sustained and won is to shove aside Governor Lawal to ensure that he does not continue to interfere with the operations.

“The state of emergency is highly desirable so that the operation can proceed unhindered and the security operatives can enter the state without interference from the Governor ,who has already begun politicizing the manhunt ,by falsely portraying himself as the sole sponsor of the operation”, APC noted.

Lords Chosen: CAN Frowns At Alleged Fabricated Testimonies

Lords Chosen Church

By Akinwale Kasali

The umbrella body of Christians in Nigeria, the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has expressed its embarrassment over the outrage

that has trailed alleged false  testimonies by members of Pastor Lazarus Mouka-led Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministry.

The viral video of the Lagos Church has prompted the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, to address the issue and call for an emergency meeting.

The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Lagos chapter, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, expressed shock that the Church allowed the testimony, which he described as a fabrication.

He said God would not work supernatural miracles that way, adding that there were no shortcuts to academic success other than hard work and belief in God.

In a viral video, a member of the Church gave a testimony, claiming she received divine assistance during a Federal Government examination and  shared her answers with another candidate.

During the testimony, the unnamed member claimed an old man in white apparels  appeared to her in the examination hall and gave her answers to some questions.

The woman said the exercise was one of the promotional examinations of the military (Army, Navy, and Air Force) and that there were about 50 questions, of which 40 bordered on career and 10 related to current affairs.

“We all had written our career questions. It then came to these very 10 questions, which asked, ‘Mention 10 Francophone countries and their capitals.’

“Brethren, nobody knew this question. So, all I did was to raise the question paper and declare to it: ‘I am a Chosen! I am a chosen!! I am a chosen!!! This question, who are you? Where is the God of my pastor power?’

“Then, suddenly, an old man appeared by my right-hand side in white apparel. He told me, ‘My daughter, begin to write.’ And I began to write,” she recounted.

She claimed that some of the invigilators, who suspected something was amiss, pulled off her apron, which made “the angel” disappear.

The action, she added, made her angry.

“But when they returned the apron and I wore it back, the old man appeared again and began to tell the rest of the answers. I completed 10 good questions. I wrote them correctly and accurately. To me, it was like a dream.

“Brethren, when I finished writing my questions, a sister who sat by my side was a Mountain of Fire member because of the logo on her clothing. As I took up the answer sheet and was cross-checking my write-up, I signaled to the woman, saying, ‘Sister, do anything you can do humanly possible.

“Any moment from now, I am going to submit my questions.’ While I was cross-checking, the sister quietly copied. And immediately she finished, brethren, I stood up and submitted my questions. Everybody in the hall was looking at me. That was how only two of us out of 102 were able to do this,” she added.

The Church then erupted in celebration as she ended her testimony.

In another testimony, a member of the church narrated how a lion miraculously saved him from kidnappers. In another video, another testifier recounted how bullets did not penetrate his head

This is just one of several testimonies by members of the Church that has gone viral, which seems to be concocted lies.

The unimaginable testimonies from the Church has led to different Skits and Comedies trending on Social Media mimicking the testifies, and making mockery of the mantra of the Church, ‘I am a Chosen”.

Speaking further on the alleged Fabricated Testimonies, the Lagos CAN Chairman said the Christian body would be meeting next Friday to address the controversies raised by the woman’s testimony and several other “unacceptable comments made by Pentecostal pastors on social media.”

The Church through its Head of Public Relations and Media for the church, Pastor Chidi Louis, said the testimony videos were doctored to tarnish the image of the church because some of the incidents happened in the testifiers’ dreams.

He stressed that the church allowed members to share their testimonies the way they wanted without gagging them because it believed that such narrations should not be censored.

“There is no need for us to begin to doubt someone’s testimony. If anybody comes and says he wants to give a testimony, we give that person the opportunity; we don’t guide people on what to say or how to say it. They are free to say it as they like,” Louis stated, adding that the church was unperturbed by social media trolls.

Datti Baba-Ahmed Tackles MURIC Over Abdulsalami Abubakar

0
Prof Ishaq Akintola and Datti Baba-Ahmed

By Ayodele Oni

A former Senator representing Kaduna North and Vice Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed has observed that the Islamic body, Muslim Rights Concern, (MURIC) has become a partisan body, going by its reaction to the former Nigerian Military Leader, Abdulsalami Abubakar’s comment on hardship in the country

Baba-Ahmed described the comment credited to Prof Ishaq Akintola as “a careless show of unnecessary support to an evidently submerging Tinubu Presidency.”

He said: Professor Ishaq Akintola of Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) threw caution and decorum in reacting to the gentle advisory of former Head of State General Abdulsalaam Abubakar on the prevailing hardships in the country occasioned by the ill-conceived socio-economic policies of the Tinubu administration.

“MURIC’s latest observation is uncharacteristic of what I know it to be. The MURIC I have come to know is a non-partisan defender of the downtrodden across religious, social and ethnic divides for which it had garnered a mileage of goodwill and positive regard.

“In this regard, General Abdulsalami is just doing his bit like other highly placed Nigerians including other past rulers and 1statesmen who have weighed in with their advisory and suggestions on how the government can alleviate the dire situation that Nigerians are presently grappling with.

“The General must have been pressed enough to come out publicly after having seen that President Tinubu has pointedly refused to even hearken to suggestions for him to soft pedal on his harsh economic policies.

“Is Professor Akintola not aware of the statement issued from President Tinubu following the latest increase in the price of fuel that he will not relent even as Nigerians are groaning more as a result?

“General Abdulsalaam is exercising his constitutional right to speak out in addition to his status as a former head of state and statesman who people look up to in such situations for all kinds of assistance and to also weigh in with his honest assessment of the situation in the country so that the authorities can take heed.

“Professor Akintola and MURIC are rather taking on the wrong man in their rather uncouth and irresponsible attempt to defend the failing policies of the Tinubu administration.

“General Abdulsalami is the world renowned hero of the current democracy we are enjoying. General Abdulsalami can rightly be described as the architect of the present 4th Republic which President Tinubu and others are now enjoying.

“Indeed if MURIC’s Professor Akintola will make issues with a man with such a remarkable profile of positive national achievements on account of his advisory to President Tinubu, I can only surmise that it is not the Professor Akintola I have come to know.

“Rather than take aim at General Abdulsalaam for his gentle and honest remarks, I will ask Professor Akintola to direct his gratuitous statements to President Tinubu who has truculently refused all entreaties to implement his policies with a human face.

“If a former Head of State who is known as a General and Gentleman and not known for uttering flippant statements could break his well-known composure and decide to come out with such a compelling intervention on the state of the nation, then the situation calls for sober reflection and necessary introspection on the part of President Tinubu’s administration.

“This is what Nigerians expect of MURIC at this point in time not gratuitous sycophancy in support of an administration that has failed in its obligation to the people.

“Let me endeavour to add that having a duo of same faith failing leaders is bad publicity for any system not to mention a religion. Indeed MURIC’s attempt to project or promote such a leadership is patently a negation of its stated principles.

“All over the world except war stricken nations, Muslim leadership has brought peace, stability and prosperity. Except as we saw under the previous leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria became the poverty capital of the world and his home state of Katsina fell to bandits.

“It is legitimate to ask why Professor Akintola’s MURIC will want to cover up another failing leadership headed by not just a Muslim but two Muslims.

“For now, Akintola has failed in impressing anyone. Villa may compensate them with few more seats during Ramadhan but that will be all. Everyone knows that this ungodly act of holding Tinubu’s brief is no longer tenable, and must stop.”
