Matawalle Returns To Sokoto After Abduction, Killing Of Kebbi Traditional Ruler

Bello Matawalle: Embroiled in Bandit romance allegation, to be replaced.

By Suleiman Anyalewechi

The Minister of Defence (State), Dr Bello Matawalle, has expressed confidence that the renewed battle against banditry activities and insurgency in the North West region is quite on track.

This is even as he reiterated Federal Government’s determination to bring to an end the insecurity ravaging the geo-political zone and the entire Northern region of the country.

Dr Matawalle who spoke on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 on arrival in Sokoto, for another phase of the Presidential marching order to halt banditry activities in the area, also, expressed faith in the abilities of the Military and other security agencies to remain on top of the situation.

The Source reports that following the spate of abductions and killings, including that of the District Head of Sabon Gobor in Sokoto State, President Bola Tinubu had directed the Minister and Service Chiefs to relocate to the region to coordinate the onslaught against terrorists.

“As directed by Mr President, I am back for the second time in Sokoto State to coordinate this gigantic assignment in order to flush out the bandits and other criminals

“We have recorded some level of achievements that comprises the killing of notorious gang leaders and group members at different places.

“Relative peace had so far been recorded specifically in Sokoto, Zamfara and Katsina States.

“I am optimistic that our gallant troops will sustain the strides and continue to record success through ‘Fansan Yamma’ operations that was going on in the fight against these criminals in the North West.

“The Federal Government will continue to boost the morale of soldiers and other security agencies by supporting them to bring an end to this challenge.

“We appreciate the sacrifices and gallant fight against insecurity by military personnel and other security agencies”, Matawalle noted.

However, while banditry activities are said to be receding in Katsina, Zamfara and Sokoto States according to the Minister, the terrorists appear to  be on the prowl in neighouring Kebbi State.

In a seeming rehearse of the ugly chain of events that culminated in the kidnap and subsequent killing of Isah Bawa Abdullahi, late District Head of Sabon Gobor, about a month ago, the bandits once again struck on October 6.

The terrorists, this time, seized Isah Kanya, the District  Head of Kanya in Kebbi State, together with eight others.

However, by the time rescue operations were concluded on Tuesday, 8th October, the eight others returned without the District Head.

The Kebbi Police Command has since confirmed his death in the abductors den, just like his Sokoto State colleague Bawa Abdullahi.

Not a few are of the conviction that Matawalle’s second  missionary journey to Sokoto might not be unconnected with the sad and unfortunate fate  that just befell the District Head.

Vehicle owners are to pay more to obtain the driver’s licence and vehicle papers.

This follows an approval by the Joint Tax Board, (JTB) to N21,000 and N15,000, to obtain a five-year and three-year driver’s licence, respectively, from November 1, 2024.

Also, to obtain a five-year and three-year driver’s licence for a motorcycle/tricycle will be N11,000 and N7,000 respectively.

Mr Olusegun Adesokan, the Secretary of JTB, in a circular dated September 20, 2024, stated that the approval for the increased rates was subject to the ability of the Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC) to adequately educate and sensitise the public about the increment.

“The secretariat has requested that the FRSC notify the JTB of its public engagement and sensitisation plans.

“This is to enable relevant inputs where necessary, as we are confident that a very robust engagement arrangement will ensure the seamless implementation of the revised rates as approved by the board.”

Also, with the rates review, vehicle owners will be expected to pay at least N30,000 for a standard private vehicle number plate and a standard commercial vehicle number plate.

A fancy number plate will now cost N400,000 while a motorcycle number plate will cost N12,000. Dealer (motor vehicle) number plate will cost N100,000.

Similarly, government fancy motor vehicle number plate has been revised to N120,000, government standard number plate to N80,000, the government fancy motorcycle number plate to N50,000 and government standard motorcycle number plates to N20,000

Edo PDP, APC Trade Words Over Inspection Of Election Materials

APC and PDP

By Ayodele Oni

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State has alleged that some thugs of the All Progressives Congress (APC) prevented its legal team from inspecting materials used for last month governorship election.

The party claimed that the APC is deliberately stalling the inspection of the BVAS and other election materials for the September 21 Edo governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had release a circular on Tuesday calling on political parties to send their representatives for inspection.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), in the State, Anugbum Onuoha, in the publication said, “I wish to inform the public that the inspection of the election materials, including the BVAS devices, has been formally scheduled to take place tomorrow (Wednesday October 9, 2024), at 10:00am, at the INEC headquarters in Edo State.

All political parties and their representatives are invited to participate in the exercise, as per the legal procedures, to ensure transparency and the rule of law.”

PDP stated that “Getting there on Wednesday, armed thugs of the APC extraction, numbering over 500 including the Party’s State Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe, has barricaded the INEC premises, preventing the PDP/Asue-Ogie lawyers and other Party representatives from carrying out their lawful duty.”

Speaking to newsmen on Wednesday, Director General of the PDP/Asue-Ogie Campaign Council, Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, condemned the action of the APC and called on security agencies to intervene as he and other Party stalwarts will be at the INEC office on Thursday  to personally witness the inspection exercise.

“We are aware of clandestine plans by the APC to stall the inspection process; having secured a court order to inspect the BVAS and other election materials.

“We should not naturally face any resistant from the opposition APC; their action today however, suggests the Party is unwilling to respect court order.

“We shall all be there tomorrow, to ensure the smooth facilitation of the process, I call on the Police, DSS and other security agencies in the State to intervene so as to prevent a break of law and order.

“The APC if truly they won the September 21 Edo governorship election should confidently chest out to show forth their victory, stalling the inspection of the BVAS and other materials for the poll suggests a foul play and that will be unfolded tomorrow.”

APC chairman, Tenebe, who spoke on behalf of the party, noted that PDP did not have the party’s register and so could not depend on the register from INEC to start the process.

“Considering the other unfounded excuses as given by the APC, one could deduce that the Party is unprepared for the inspection, hence doing all it can to stall or delay the process.

Appeal Court Affirms Sack Of Enugu Reps Member

Hon Simon Atigwe - representing Igboeze North-Udenu Federal Constituency

By Suleiman Anyalewechi

The National/State Assembly Appeal Court, sitting in Enugu, on Wednesday October 9, 2024, affirmed the ruling of an Election Petition Tribunal sacking the member representing the Igboeze/Udenu Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon Simon Atigwe.

The Source reports that the Tribunal sitting in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State Capital, had on September 14, 2024, in a  unanimous ruling, nullified the election of Atigwe on the platform of the Peoples Democratic PDP.

The tribunal had declared void about 2000 from the total votes credited to Hon Atigwe in the  2023 National Assembly election, held same day as the Presidential Election.

The Panel held that the 2000 votes were wrongfully added to Hon. Atigwe by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.

The Tribunal further held that Labour Party’s  Dennis Agbo, having polled a total of 23,221 as against Atigwe’s 21,863, was the duly elected candidate.

The Tribunal subsequently ordered the INEC to withdraw the Certificate of Return earlier issued to Atigwe and give same to Hon. Agbo of the LP.

But dissatisfied with the Tribunal’s verdict, Hon Atigwe approached the Appeal court seeking a reversal.

The three-man Appeal Court presided over by  Hon Justice Ekanem, also, unanimously held that LP’s Agbo was the winner of the election.

It consequently dismissed the appeal  filed  by PDP’s Atigwe as lacking in merit.

This marks the end of Atigwe’s case and stay in the 10th National Assembly.

Imo: Hell Visits Ehime Mbano As Gunmen Invade Army Camp

Gunmen - Kidnappers

By Charles Igbo

Hell, accompanied by terror and death, literally descended on Ehime Mbano on Wednesday, 9th October, 2024, when gunmen invaded an Army Facility. It is not known how many fatalities were recorded, if any, but it was like a war zone. Reports, however, insist there were fatalities.

Gunshots rained, deafening the ears. Smoke spiraled and rose to high heavens. Vehicles were set ablaze, and gunmen kept taunting the soldiers, asking them to come out.

There are two versions of exactly what happened.

The first version said that the gunmen, allegedly, men of the Biafra Liberation Army under Finland-based Simon Ekpa, ambushed the soldiers and opened fire. It was not revealed from where the soldiers were coming from or going to, or what time of the day it was – night or day.

But the second version from a video trending on Whatsaap platform, watched by this medium tell a different story.

In the video, the gunmen invaded a military facility. They were seen invading it and narrating their movement. They identified themselves as “angels”, and the place they invaded as an army camp. One of them was running the commentary.

“Angels are here, angels are here. This is Ehime Mbano. It was a Local Government,  they turned it to Army camp. Angels are here. If una get strength make una come. Nigerian Army, if una get strength make una come. This is October month. Today is October 8th.

“Make una come. We are here. This is Biafra land. Hey, stay there. Today is October. And we are here for October Movement.

“They say dey no dey fear. Let them come. We are burning down their vehicles. This is our land. This is Biafra land. Ehime Mbano is on fire.”

Apparently, the scene, as was seen in the video, did not look like an ambush. It looked like an Army Camp, especially, with the number of vehicles and buildings set ablaze. What is not known, however, is if there were soldiers within at the time of the invasion. But it seems like the operation took place in the night.

The Ekpa Group, identified as Autopilots, a breakaway from the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, had declared the month of October, “October Movement”, and had especially, declared October 21 and 22, the day they would launch their movement.

This is the second time Ehime Mbano will be under serious attack by gunmen within two weeks. During the first attack, the multi-billion Naira National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN, Study Centre and the country homes of Senator Frank Ibezim and his brother, Mike,  were torched. No arrests have been made.

In the instant case, neither the Police nor the Army has reacted.

Nigerian Army Probes General For “Administrative Discrepancies”

Major General Onyema Nwachukwu

By Ayodele Oni

The Nigerian Army has shed light on a former Brigade Commander that is on suspension for alleged offences bordering on Administrative Discrepancies.

Even though the Army did not quite  say what it means by “Adminstrative discrepancies”, the strong speculation out there is that the top officer was involved in, allegedly, stealing of palliatives, like rice, meant for  Army personnel. He was, also, alleged to have made away with a power generator meant for the Army.

Onyema Nwachukwu, Major General, and Director, Army Public Relations explained that the ongoing investigation of allegation against the officer will be thorough.

The Army spokesman, in a statement stated that: “The Nigerian Army has been inundated with media reports regarding the immediate past Commander 3 Brigade Kano, Brigadier General MA Sadiq, who is currently undergoing military investigation into administrative discrepancies while he was Commander 3 Brigade.

“Consequently, the senior officer has been relieved of command to ensure a thorough investigation.

“The Nigerian Army, being a self-regulatory institution, founded on the bedrock of discipline, justice, and accountability, has zero tolerance for indiscipline and will therefore not condone any form of misconduct or illicit actions and inactions that could undermine the threshold of its values and principles.

“The Nigerian Army assures both our internal and external publics that the allegations will be thoroughly investigated, and appropriate administrative action will be taken.

“Our commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity and transparency remains unwavering.

“We guarantee that the process will be fair, impartial, and in line with our established procedures.”

“I Was Considered  Major Stumbling Block To Illegal Activities In Government Forest Reserves” – Sacked Ondo Gov’s Aide

Lucky Aiyedatiwa

By Ayodele Oni

The Ondo State Governor’s Aide who was dismissed over an alleged N30m bribe has clarified that he was sacrificed to protect the interest of some timber merchants in the State out to rip off Government.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on Wednesday, announced the dismissal from office the Special Assistant on Forestry (Central Senatorial District), Mr. Adeboye Taofiq Ewenla, with immediate effect.

This followed allegations of bribery and intimidation leveled against Mr. Ewenla by some timber merchants in the State.

The Governor also ordered a probe into the activities of those saddled with the responsibility of managing forest reserves in the State.

“I would like to categorically state that the allegation is false and the whole issue was orchestrated to tarnish my image because I was considered a major stumbling block to illegal activities in Government Forest Reserves.

Ewenla, in a statement in Akure explained that “Ondo State Government had already banned deforestation of any kind and prevented them from operating there.

“Before they can operate, they have to pay a certain amount to Government coffers. The money being talked about is meant for the Government. It is not to be paid into my personal account.

“All I was committed to was trying to put sanity into the job. All my activities are directed to increasing the internally generated revenue of the state government.

“I accept the decision of Mr Governor who appointed me and deemed it fit to relieve me. It is, however, important to make this clarification for official reasons.”

Ijaw Allege Marginalisation In Delta APC

APC

By Akinwale Kasali

The Ijaw People in Delta State All Progressives Congress, APC, has lamented the exclusion its people are facing in Delta State and at the Federal level.

The Ijaws said their Tribe has been excluded by the Federal Government in political appointment.

The Ijaw in APC also noted with dismay that out of the three sensitive party positions, the Governor, the Deputy Governor and the state Party Chairman, non was ceded to them, alleging that the marginalisation affected the fortunes of the party in the last General Elections.

In a letter addressed to Elder Godsday Orubebe, Chairman secretariat-sub Committee, Delta State APC Reconciliation Committee, signed by 65 representatives of Delta Ijaw APC members, titled, “Plight of Delta Ijaws in APC and Requisite Redress Sought,” presented By Rt. Hon. Emibra Agbeotu, a member of the 4th National Assembly, the Ijaw APC members pleaded with the Reconciliation Committee to address the imbalance and their exclusion in the allocation of political appointments.

Some of the signatories include Rt. Hon. Emibra Agbeotu former House of Reps member, Hon. (Barr) Tonye Timi & Hon. Kennedy Daubry; former Delta state Assembly members, Amb. Felix Datuowei, Prof. Dr. Bello, Barr Bosin S. Ebikeme & Hon (Barr). R. B. Guanah, former cabinet Commissioners, among others.

The Ijaws called on President Bola Tinubu and the National Party Chairman, Dr. Umar Gandule, to consider their quick inclusion, partnership, patronage and empowerment, to foster unity, oneness of purpose and victory of APC at polls in Delta state.

According to the letter, “This document represents the collective resolve and formal voice of the Ijaw-speaking people in Delta state who are members of the APC.

“It is a response to the invite of the Elder Godsday Orubebe-led secretariat sub-committee of the Delta APC reconciliation committee, Chaired by Chief Ortega Emerho, that requested aggrieved APC members (individuals or groups) in Delta state, to make oral or written submissions on their concerns for consideration and any necessary action, to foster harmony and shared spirit of peace, unity and stability in the party; on reliable foundation of oneness of purposes, and goals.

“We embrace reconciliation because it births harmony, in oneness of spirit, idea, purpose, goals and utmost success.

“Nevertheless, and quite seriously, without mincing words, we urge APC to note that reconciliation without deliberate efforts and commitment to identify, interrogate and sanction those that betrayed APC, and prevented us from winning the 2023 general elections in Delta state, will fall short the dire need, tenets and benefits of reconciliation.

“Presently, and without any form of sanctions to deter those that betrayed us at the polls, we are indirectly, and overly encouraging people to repeat same in future elections.

“Consequently, we state unequivocally, that we are persistently faced with unprovoked and unprecedented non-inclusion and marginalization from successive administrations of our party, APC, and the APC-led federal governments, since 2014 to date, instead of being nurtured, patronised of our potentials and prospects via apt inclusion that will exert unity, and harmonious actions, to secure our votes that often determine victory at polls in Delta state.

“Arising from our implicit support and firm confidence on Mr. President, Bola Ahmed Tinibu, GCFR, and his renewed hope agenda, the Dr. Umar Ganduje- led National EXCO of APC, and dire concern for the plight of APC, and in recognizing that its recent performance in our state is mainly self-inflicted, via inept practices of non-inclusion, internal quarrels and resentments, which birthed acrimonies, grievances and absurdities in us, we find it apt to outline the following issues and requisite redress, in order that we can win at polls in Delta state.”

Among the items listed were voting strength and prospects of APC in Local Government Areas domiciled by Ijaws in Delta State.

The letter explained that the Delta South Senatorial District is composed of eight Local Government Areas with 65 Wards. The Delta Ijaws control 41 of the 65 Wards, adding that it represents approximately 67 percent of the voting strength, and victory determining votes in the Senatorial District.

“Despite this significant strength and worth, our dear party, APC, have systematically sidelined us, through brazen neglect and outright disregard of our people and essential votes,” it stated.

On the issue of counter-productive reward system, the people in the letter alleged that prior to the 2023 elections, APC had inadequate membership in the 41 Ijaw controlled wards and had consistently failed to secure victory at polls.

“However, in the recent general elections, Elder Godsday Orubebe, CON, DG of the Delta campaign council, successfully mobilized Deltans via his team. In fact, we sacrificed time, energy, and resources with him, and pulled over 56% of our votes that had been swaying victory for PDP at polls in Delta state.

“Despite this, no Delta Ijaw APC member has been appointed or patronized by our APC-led federal government. Instead, non-APC members and non-Ijaws are given appointments at our expense and ridicule. This births resentment and disillusionment in us.”

It said that it was sad and disheartening that the adorable efforts made by the APC members of Ijaw ethnic group in Delta State have yielded no reward, “thereby creating resentment and deep frustration amongst us in APC. If this anomaly is not corrected, it will deepen apathy within our ranks, and entrench bleak future for APC in the 2027 general elections.”

It further stated that the Deta Ijaws in APC support the issue of rotation of government and party offices among the three senatorial districts.

“However, as none of the three key offices: Governor, Deputy Governor, and state party chairman is not allotted or rotated to us (Delta south senatorial district), we are undermined and marginalized.

“This amounts to non-inclusion, inadequate strategy, ill-equipment, and ineffective mobilization of our essential votes that had exerted overall victory at successive polls in Delta state for the decades.

“Given our growing strength and unique potential to deliver essential votes that determine victory at polls, we demand that the position of Delta state APC chairman is zoned to us, Delta Ijaws in APC.”

On the election of party officials and delegates, it said, “Despite the increasing support for APC in the Delta Ijaw wards and the fact that our votes had decisive roles in securing victory at polls for decades, we are grossly and persistently excluded from participating in the election of credible and committed party officials and, party delegates for our units, wards and LGAs.

“Instead, APC imposes cronies; who are incapable and disconnected from voters. This births resentment, acrimony and division within our ranks, and negatively affects the planning, management, and administration of our party affairs.”

Appealing for inclusion in political appointments, the people said, “We are neglected and marginalized brazenly, despite our contributions and potentials to APC’s prospects and required success at polls. If these issues raised are not addressed aptly, they will thrive to ruin the strength and prospects of APC in Delta state continuously.

“Thus, see with us as we call on our dear President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and Dr. Umar Gandule, National Chairman of APC, our dear party, for quick inclusion, partnership, patronage and empowerment, to foster unity, oneness of purpose and victory of APC at polls in Delta state.”

Wike Is Biggest Threat To Nigeria’s Democracy – Secondus

0
Uche Secondus and Nyesom Wike

The former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, has warned that unchecked excesses of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Barr. Nyesom Wike, are capable of truncating the nation’s democracy.

Prince Secondus, who was reacting to last Saturday’s Local Government elections in Rivers state and the indecorous behavior of the Minister and his hired thugs before and after the elections, warned that the former Governor of the state is indisputably the biggest threat to democracy in Nigeria today and should be closely watched.

The former PDP boss warned the Federal Government where Wike is serving and deriving his crooked powers that the man they are protecting is aiming to pull down democracy in the country.

“ It’s only in this country and under the watch of a party like APC that one person will be a member of two political parties and use them to cause nuisance in the society.

He advised President Tinubu to see Wike for what he truly is, an unruly bull in a China shop, ready and willing to pull down everything in the shop to quench his violent appetite.

He reminded the Federal Government of the strategic importance of Rivers State hosting critical assets of the nation.

Prince Secondus advised President Tinubu to work with Governor Fubara to protect these assets by checking the inordinate ambition of Wike.

Prince Secondus congratulated the people of Rivers state, particularly the voters, for turning out massively on Saturday and resisting all the threats from Wike and his hired hoodlums.

He also commended Governor Similaya Fubara for standing out for democracy and providing leadership to his people when it was very necessary by refusing to be intimidated.

Prince Secondus finally warned that all indexes of a failed democracy already exist in Nigeria today, and the Federal government should be careful about how it handles anti-democratic operatives like Barr Wike.

“I Will Ensure Security Of Asaba And Environs” – New Asagba of Asaba Obi, Epiphany Azinge

0
The Asagba of Asaba Obi - Prof Epiphany Chibuogu Azinge

By Ike Abonyi

On October 5th, 2024, history was recorded significantly in Asaba Kingdom in Delta State as a new Asagba of Asaba, 67-year-old Obi, Prof Epiphany Chibuogu Azinge, was installed.

It was a herald of Asaba culture and tradition in its enthusiastic form. Speaking to close friends and relatives shortly after his throne was inaugurated, the new King, a legal icon, professor of law, and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, gave insight into what friends, relatives, and the Community should  expect from his throne.“I am going to avail my Kingship for evangelism. My reign as Asagba of Asaba will be adequately utilized to propagate Jesus Christ while upgrading and updating the culture and traditions of our people. I will not disappoint my friends and Asaba people because God was preparing me for the position without my knowing. I consulted extensively with my family and others before concluding to make the huge sacrifice of devoting the rest of my life to serving my people in this capacity. Among the sacrifices are the limitations the new position imposed on him as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, a law Teacher, and a Professor within and outside the Commonwealth of Nations including his wife, the new Queen of Asaba, Dr. Valeria Azinge, also a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN who as the new Queen of Asaba is not expected to make a professional court appearance any longer. I will use my reign to promote Jesus Christ; I will use it to evangelize the gospel to ensure the true worship of Jesus Christ he stressed.

Earlier, shortly after his coronation as the 14th Asagba of Asaba, the legal luminary addressed the people and unfolded his programs, which he hopes will develop the town and bring it to the right status as one of the early towns that saw civilization in this country.

“Today marks a pivotal moment in the history of Asaba. In the chronicles of this great kingdom, this day will forever be remembered as a moment of renaissance, cultural rebirth, social re-engineering, and the relentless pursuit of the greatest happiness for the majority of our people.

“I must begin by paying tribute to the memory of my esteemed predecessor, the 13th Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty Prof. Chike Edozien, CFR, for his 33 years of distinguished and selfless service to our people. His love for Asaba was unparalleled, his passion for reform unprecedented, his vision unmatched, and his pragmatism beyond description. It often felt as though he would live forever. He was a father figure to me and many others, and everything I know, I learned from him. He now belongs to the exalted circle of our ancestors, and I believe his blessings will continue to guide us as we build on his remarkable legacy. May his soul rest in perfect peace.

“I would also like to commend Ochendo Asagba, the regent of the throne, for the exceptional leadership he demonstrated in managing the affairs of Asaba since the passing of his father. His balanced judgment, unwavering commitment to peace, and ability to manage the transition process have been widely recognized. On behalf of the entire people of Asaba, I congratulate you on a highly successful tenure and encourage you to continue lending your wisdom and institutional memory to the service of our community.

“On the 19th of August, in this hallowed palace, the people of Asaba (by an overwhelming 99% vote) entrusted me with the immense responsibility of stepping into the shoes of my ancestors as the 14th Asagba of Asaba. You saw in me the qualities of leadership that will honor the legacy of my predecessor. Your trust in me is a clear invitation to continue pushing the boundaries of engagement and service in our land. I recognize the enormous burden that comes with this role, but it is one I am fully committed to shouldering for the progress and well-being of our people. I promise that I will not betray your trust, nor will I ever disappoint the people of Asaba.

”As I accepted this role, I made the following pledges:

To uphold and promote the traditions and culture of the Asaba people.

To foster unity among our people, promoting inclusivity and rejecting exclusivity.

To sow the seeds of love and Jilial loyalty among our people.

To encourage the establishment of a welfare and development fund for the community development of Asaba.

To vigorously pursue the building of a befitting palace for the Asagba of Asaba.

To continue advocating for the establishment of a Federal University in Asaba.

To extend control and supervision to all parts of Asaba where the influence of traditional authorities may not have reached.

To strengthen all traditional authorities and institutions like OTU-Ihaza, Asagba-In-Council, and others.

To be accessible, open to advice, encourage constructive criticism, and show zero tolerance for gossip within the palace.

  1. j) To ensure the security of Asaba and its people.
  2. k) To foster peaceful coexistence with our neighbors and the good people of Anioma.
  1. l) To work harmoniously with the Delta State Government in the interest of our people.

(m) I will continue to support the government as we strive to make Asaba the state capital of our dreams.

(n) I will actively push and network with the Federal Government to attract more institutions to Asaba.

(o) Justice and fairness for all will be the hallmark of my leadership.

(p) I will work tirelessly to ensure peace reigns both within Asaba and among the Asaba people.

Today, I reaffirm these pledges. So help me God. I pledge as your king never to disappoint the people of this great land that we so deeply revere. I will be the leader you entrusted with the destiny of this land, and I promise to elevate Asaba to greater heights.

“As I make these pledges, I must also remind us that there are corresponding obligations for each of you. We must all learn to live in peace and harmony, to be our brother’s keeper, to uphold Jilial loyalty, to reject division and conflict, and to reward excellence. We must promote the dignity of labor and continue to welcome Nigerians from other tribes, encouraging investments in our town.

“Asaba is a land rich in culture and tradition. I vow to preserve our heritage, uphold our unique customs and traditions, and improve the welfare of our people. I will harness the immense academic potential of our people, create employment opportunities by revitalizing moribund industries, and instill in our people a sense of belonging in the affairs of our state. I will maintain a mutually beneficial relationship with our Local Government Council and its leadership.

“Asaba, as a state capital, is far from the once sleepy, rustic town by the banks of the “Majestic Niger.” Today, Asaba is not only the fastest-growing state capital in Nigeria but one of the fastest in Sub-Saharan Africa. Yet, we must not rest on our laurels. Let us not forget that Asaba was once the capital of Nigeria in the days of the Royal Niger Company. I will continue to support all efforts to enhance the status of Asaba. It will be a welcome development if we improve our power situation and ensure a steady flow of piped water throughout our land. I urge the concerned agencies and authorities to address these pressing concerns as a matter of urgency.

“The contest for the throne of the Asagba of Asaba was not without its challenges. While many of my brothers have congratulated me, a few remain aggrieved for one reason or another. As Asagba, and as a sovereign with compassion and goodwill, I invite my brothers to sheath their swords and join me as we build a new Asaba together. Collectively, we can achieve greatness by uniting for the glory of Asaba.

” My dear compatriots of Asaba, there is much work to be done, and even as your king, I cannot do it alone. A new dawn is upon us, and it is time for us to strive to achieve the greatest  for the greatest number of our people.

Please, I seek your unwavering support as I embark on this journey as your king, sovereign, and traditional ruler. May God be our helper.

Long live the Ahaba Kingdom. Long live Ani Ahaba.

May God protect our land. May our glory never fade.
