Police Tried To Kill Me While In Custody

“I don’t know what the FPRO wanted to do with my blood

By Olamide Thomas

“While I was at the custodial centre, I had crisis twice which was managed by my professional colleagues at the clinic and I felt more safer there unlike the police custody where my health and life was threatened.

“The FPRO made attempts to eliminate me through his friend, Mr Omaka (the Asst. Director of NPF NCCC) and his team. On entering into the office of Mr Omaka, they started burning incense without putting into consideration my health status and tolerance for flames.

“It was at the FCID cell I was sprayed chemicals that gave peppery sensation while I was asleep at midnight which caused me to have epistaxis in the morning.

“Also, when I passed out my lawyer requested that I should be taken to National Hospital which is a government-owned hospital in Abuja but they refused and took me to police hospital where drugs were administered on me by a suspected quack portrayed as a nurse just to fulfill their evil acts.

“Laboratory results were manipulated and I do not know the content of what was infused into my IV fluid and drugs. I was not carried along in my own care.

“I also heard one of the police officers instructing them at the lab to keep my blood in the sample bottle for them even after I requested for it to be disposed by myself.

“I don’t know what the FPRO wanted to do with my blood in the sample bottle and why he might have requested for it through the officer. I’ve heard ugly stories of him being fetish since his days as PPRO in Ogun and Lagos states.

IGP Kayode Egbetokun

“I have been in and out of the hospital lately and I know the huge sum I have spent on my health. The FPRO is known for terrorizing Nigerians, imbibing fear in people, obsessed with display of gross abuse and misuse of power, engaging in acts of human rights violation and so on. People should know that he is obsessed with dealing with me for personal reasons.

“I heard of the abduction of Comrade Seaking recently and all I can say is that all advocacy groups in Nigeria and the diaspora should be on the lookout for him and ensure that nothing happens to him because I know they have an evil mission to fulfill.

“They are out to weaken immune system of people and their target population is Comrades who are fighting for liberation of Nigerians. We are now in the era of civilian dictatorship where the government is using the police to usurp people’s rights, silence people and allegedly killing people who might have been abducted without anyone being in the know.”

“It’s time for Nigerians to arise before these beasts and terrorists on uniform succeed in stylishly reducing population of Nigerians drastically in the guise of prosecution.”

LG Autonomy: EFCC Swings To Action To Track Funds

0
Ola Olukayode - EFCC Chairman

As part of its efforts to ensure accountability and combat corruption at the local government level, following the financial autonomy granted to the third tier of government in the country by the Supreme Court, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, says it has swung into action to track funds allocated to the 774 LGAs in the country.

The anti-graft agency boss, Ola Olukoyede made the revelation when he received, in audience, a group of the National Christian Youths Professionals in his office, in Abuja the nation’s capital.

The agency, the Chairman of the commission said has started monitoring funds allocated to LGAs, through a special unit, the Fraud Risk Assessment and Control department.

The group had paid the EFCC chairman boss, the visit, to encourage and applaud the agency for its success in leading the agency to combating graft in the country.

Recall that the Supreme Court, in a 2024 landmark judgment gave the 774 LGAs financial autonomy, to the extent that they have powers to manage their funds free from the control from state government.

Not a few Nigerians had applauded the judgment, they however demanded that the LGAs be monitored to ensure that funds allocated to them are not stolen or mismanaged by council Chairmen.

According to Olukoyede, the EFCC  ensure that LGA funds are sued for what they are meant for, and not diverted or stolen by the council management.

On their part, the NCYP said the LGAs are closer to the people at the grassroots, and that the funds should be managed so that their impact an be felt by their people.

Olukoyede: “We have a department called Fraud Risk Assessment and Control that is closely monitoring and tracking payments, contracts, and other releases to ensure that funds are expended on what they are meant for.”

He said corruption has nothing to do with religion, race or creed, urging Nigerians to be people of integrity.

“Doing the right thing has nothing to do with whether you are a Christian or a Muslim. Let’s continue to operate as people of integrity irrespective of our faith,” he said.

Isaac Abrak, the NCYP leader said, “We come from the grassroots, and we understand the realities in our local government areas. We appreciate the President for granting local government autonomy.

“If local governments can achieve even 40% of their responsibilities, we will see significant progress. That’s why we are here—to call for proper monitoring of resource management and to offer our partnership to ensure that funds meant for the grassroots are effectively utilized.”

The magazine however reported that the 774 LGAs in the country have yet to open Accounts with the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, as directed by the Supreme Court in its July 2024 landmark judgment, as part of the efforts to ensure their financial autonomy.

The Association of Local Government of Nigeria,  ALGON, has accused state governments of frustrating  this key aspect of the apex court judgment.

Obi Kicks, As Tinubu Increases 2025 Budget To N54trn

Peter Obi and Bola Tinubu

Prominent opposition leader in Nigeria and Labour Party chieftain, Peter Obi has described the increase in the 2025 Budget to N54.2 trillion as unnecessary.

According to him, the decision of the federal government to increase the budget as a result of revenue increase cannot be justified by any reason.

Obi, the 202 Presidential candidate of the LP made this remark on his X handle on Friday, barely 48 hours after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu wrote a letter to the National Assembly that his government has decided to increasing the budget from N49.7 trillion to N54.2 trillion.

The magazine reported that President Tinubu, informed the NASS in the letter that he took the action because the revenue accruing to the federal government have significantly increased.

Reacting on his social media platform, Obi said the government did not give in details how the extra funds will be spent if eventually approved by the NASS.

He stressed that the government should be transparent enough to explain how the funds will be spent, adding that critical sectors such as education, healthcare, security, and poverty alleviation should be priotised, calling the NASS to hold the government accountable by scrutinising the entire budget.

He said, “Such expenditures should be directed toward critical areas of development; education, healthcare, security, and poverty alleviation.

“Furthermore, Nigerians are still waiting for a detailed account of the execution and expenditures of the Renewed Hope budget passed in December 2023 to ensure that it has been properly utilized for the country’s future development and the well-being of its citizens.”

On Tuesday, the Nigerian Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the president’s letter, on the floor of the senate, saying the lawmakers will ensure that the request is thoroughly scrutinised.

The N50.2 trillion yearly financial estimate, the magazine reports, is the highest to be presented to NASS by any Nigerian leader.

LP Tackles Soludo, Expresses Outrage Over Murder Of Lawmaker

Charles Soludo - Governor of Anambra State
Charles Soludo - Governor of Anambra State

By Adesina Soyooye

Points at political motives. Hints at possibilities

The Labour Party, Anambra State, has joined in expressing outrage over the gruesome murder of Honourable Justice Azuka, a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly.

Azuka was violently kidnapped by gunmen on December 24, 2024 within Onitsha metropolis, along Ugwunapampa Road, as he headed home for the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

His vehicle, a Range Rover, was found abandoned along the road on December 26, 2024, but with no trace of him.

In a shocking discovery, his badly decomposed body was found in the early hours of Thursday, February 6, by Security Operatives, dumped at the second River Niger Bridge, Onitsha. He had been gruesomely murdered and dumped in a most humiliating manner.

Anger and outrage have greeted this tragic incident, and condemnation has been coming like claps of thunder.

The State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has not been spared as not a few people  express disappointment over what they see as his inability to contain the very terrible security situation in the State. Literally, they say, the State, under Soludo has been reduced to a huge killing field and funeral parlour. Armed gangs, killers, kidnappers reign supreme. And the Governor, they allege, seem helpless and clueless.

Not surprisingly, the Labour Party, which Legislator Azuka was, is devastated. The Party in a statement signed by its Anambra Chapter’s Spokesperson, Obiora Ifoh, said it is traumatised by the manner of Azuka’s abduction and gruesome murder and humiliation in death. It said Governor Soludo has completely lost the State to criminals, and has no will power to take it back and instil sanity. “Anambra is gradually assuming a hobbesian status”, the statement said.

Notably too, the Party, while not mentioning names, pointed at possible political motives. It called for a thorough investigation, and reminded of how Azuka recovered, through the Courts, his mandate which had, initially, been awarded to someone else.

The LP reaction reads in part:

“We are presently traumatised by this death and that of other deaths that have become a daily occurrence in Anambra State, a state that is gradually assuming a hobbesian status under the administration of Prof. Charles Soludo.

Police Recovers Abducted Anambra Law Makers Vehicle
Honourable Justice Azuka: Murdered

“Anambra has fully assumed the state of war, where life has suddenly become nasty, brutish, and short because the present leadership has completely lost the willpower to enforce law and sanity.

“We are pained because not long ago, the Labour Party candidate in the last governorship election in Anambra State, Obiora Agbasimelo, was abducted while campaigning, and as we speak, his whereabouts are still unknown.

“Neither the security agencies nor the government could account for his disappearance, and his family is left traumatised.

“The whole essence of a government is to provide security and well-being for the people; that constitutional provision is lacking in Anambra state at present.

“It is unbelievable and unspeakable that a personality as high as a legislator could be abducted for over a month and the government was incapable of rescuing him.

“Though information has it that the police have made arrests of some suspects, we are, however, calling for a proper and deeper investigation to unravel the real culprits.

“We are not by anyway suggesting a political motive. That would be left for the security agencies to determine; however, we are not unmindful of the circumstances that led to his regaining his mandate after a court ruling ousted the previous winner from another party, who was initially declared the winner of the 2023 election.”

The Police informed that the criminals who killed Azuka have been arrested.

A disturbing video of the scene where his body was dumped, showed a very emaciated decomposed Honourable Azuka, lying face-down, his clothes tattered.

Instructively, there were, also, a couple of other bodies dumped there. In the video, one of the arrested criminals was seen making confessions before security operatives.

LASG Imposes N50,000 Fine For Overspeeding

Traffic Light and Speed Monitor

By Akinwale Kasali

Disturbed by incessant and reckless driving by motorists, the Lagos State Government has taken a decisive effort to curb this menace by improving road safety measures, the Lagos State Government has imposed the sum of N50,000 as fine for motorists caught overspeeding in the State.

The N50,000 fine the LASG said is part of its latest efforts to curb irresponsible driving and improve the safety of road users.

The new penalty  is part of a broader rollout of Intelligent Transportation System, ITS, installations across the state, which also includes an increase in the fine for running red lights from N10,000 to N20,000.

The announcement was made by the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, during a press briefing held on Thursday.

The new ITS installations, which include Checkpoint Sites for Speed Detection and E-Police Sites for Monitoring Traffic Violations, are part of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s broader vision to create a smarter, safer, and more sustainable Lagos.

The Checkpoint Sites, equipped with advanced speed detection technology, have been strategically installed at Alapere, Ogudu Road (with a speed limit of 80km/h), and Nitel, Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way (with a speed limit of 60km/h).

Meanwhile, the E-Police Sites, located at Allen Avenue Road Junction and Nurudeen Olowopopo Road, will monitor a range of traffic violations, including running red lights, illegal U-turns, reverse driving on highways, and non-compliance with lane discipline.

High-definition cameras and real-time monitoring systems will serve as virtual traffic enforcement officers, ensuring compliance even in the absence of physical officers.

Osiyemi emphasized that enforcement will commence immediately stating that motorists who violate traffic laws will receive SMS notifications from the Vehicle Inspection Service, VIS, department, detailing the nature of the violation and the corresponding fines.

“The goal is simple: to save lives, protect property, and create an orderly transportation environment. This system is not designed to be punitive but to encourage responsible driving behavior and reduce the rate of accidents on our roads.”  Osiyemi stated.

Present at the briefing was also the Commissioner for Innovation, Science, and Technology, Olatunbosun Alake, who highlighted the role of technology in transforming Lagos into a more livable and economically vibrant city.

“Today is an auspicious day for Lagos. The ITS is a suite of transport management solutions that will drive positive outcomes, ensuring decorum on our roads and ultimately contributing to economic growth. With this technology, we can make our roads safer for everyone.”Alake said.

The Lagos State Government has urged all road users, private motorists, commercial drivers, and transport unions, to comply with traffic laws and regulations.

Motorists are also advised to drive within speed limits, obey traffic signals, maintain lane discipline, and avoid dangerous maneuvers such as reverse driving on major roads.

The introduction of the ITS and the accompanying fines mark a significant step in Lagos’s journey toward becoming a technologically advanced megacity.

As the State continues to grow, these measures aim to ensure that its transportation network remains efficient, safe, and sustainable for all residents.

In Imo, It’s War Against Female Genital Mutilation, Uzodimma Declares

0
APC National Chairman - Dr Abdulahi Ganduje - Imo State Governor - Sen Hope Uzodimma

Governor Hope Uzodimma has promised to fight against the practice of female genital mutilation (FGM) in Imo State, enjoining parents, traditional rulers, religious leaders, the law enforcement agencies, the civil society organisations and development partners to come on board with him to fight the practice.

He spoke Thursday in Owerri during the

commemoration of the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), organised by the Office of the First Lady Imo State, Her Excellency, Barr. (Mrs.) Chioma Uzodimma, in collaboration with the United Nations International Children  Education Fund (UNICEF).

In his remarks, the Governor called for an urgent domestication of war against FGM Programmes, maintaining that the domestication should be taken to rural communities where the Traditional Rulers and all Stakeholders will play a role in bringing FGM  to an end in Imo.

The Governor regretted that the rate of FGM is high in Imo and urged parents to take the chunky of blame for the malaise.

Admonishing them to abhor such practices and work to stop FGM now, he reiterated, however, that it is the responsibility of all concerned to fight to end the old practice in the 21st century.

‘There is a new digital order in the 21st century that abhors those cultures and traditions that are not kind to mankind.

There is no other way to fight FGM outside such gatherings like this that brings all together,” he said, emphasising that “when there will be such gathering next year in Imo State there will be zero tolerance.”

“We are almost there, and we must succeed.”

Governor Uzodimma also thanked the UNICEF and other agencies for their support and partnership with the Office of Imo State First Lady on the matter.

In her keynote address, the First Lady of Imo State,  Barr. (Mrs.) Chioma Uzodimma informed that the programme was aimed at creating awareness as well as a “clarion call to action.”

“Too many girls and women continue to endure this deeply harmful practice every day,” she said, noting, “this year’s theme is apt – “Step Up the Pace: Strengthening Alliances and Building Movements to End FGM.”

Mrs. Uzodimma reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to ending FGM in Imo State and Nigeria at large, regretting that Nigeria has the third-highest number of women and girls who have undergone FGM globally.

The Imo First Lady called for increased awareness of the medical consequences and its severe and long lasting trauma, and noted that “education is the most potent weapon to stem FGM in the State.”

She commended the Governor for his consistent commitment in advancing the rights and well-being of women and the girl-child in Imo State, and thanked the strategic partners – UNICEF, and other developmental partners –  for their support and fight against FGM.

In her goodwill address, the Hon Minister of Women Affairs, Hajia Imaan Suleiman- Ibrahim, maintained that “FGM is not a tradition to be preserved. It is a grave violation of human rights, a brutal form of gender-based violence, and serious public health crisis which should not be encouraged.”

The Minister regretted that Nigeria is ranked the third-highest number in FGM globally,  which she said was unacceptable, and challenged all to step up the fight against FGM.

“We must break the cycle of harmful traditions and protect our daughters from violation.”

The minister called on State governments, traditional rulers, community leaders, civil society organisations, the media and every Nigerian, to take a stand and end female genital mutilation now.

The Minister reaffirmed that her office is working towards strengthening the VAPP and Child Rights Act laws in increasing, creating public awareness, and fostering grassroots advocacy, hinting that presently the 35 states and the FCT have adopted the VAPP Act, which criminalises FGM.

While stressing that full nationwide enforcement remains a priority, she called for larger vision to empower and protect women and the girl-child, and disclosed that the World Bank has supported Nigeria for Women Scale-Up Project, just as she said that the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs has commenced the implementation aimed at empowering 4.5 million women.

In his goodwill message,  the APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje commended the visionary leadership of Governor Uzodimma and his wife for recognising the importance of fighting the menace of bad cultural issues.

He pointed out that such social programme should be entrenched in the communities where moderation and changes can be made in their culture, and called for awareness campaign to stop FGM, especially among the rural populace.

Also in his goodwill message, the Chief Child Protection Officer of  UNICEF, Ibrahim Sise reiterated that Nigeria ranks the third in FGM globally, adding that significant change has not occurred in Imo State, hence the need for greater sensitisation and campaign.

He challenged all to join hands to ensure the eradication of FGM practices in Imo State and commended the Office of the Imo State First Lady for rising to the occasion.

In his goodwill message, the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Aboki Danjuma who was represented said the Police are prepared to protect the rights of women and the girl-child and charged all to desist from any form of FGM which he said runs contrary to the laws of Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The event was attended by large turnout of women and other stakeholders from the traditional institution, religious institution, civil society organisations, political leaders, the youth, among others.

NBA Constitutes Committee To Review Conflicting Judgements

0
NBA NEC Meeting in Akure

By Ayodele Oni

The Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) has set up an Adjudicative Review Committee, to look at  conflicting court judgments in the country.

The committee will point out areas of the conflicts, and also try to identify where the courts got it wrong and suggest the position that best reflects the position of the law.

Speaking at the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the NBA held in Akure, the Ondo State capital, Osigwe expressed worry about such judgments from courts of co-ordinate jurisdictions; the development, he said, impinged on the integrity of the judiciary.

Osigwe said that the NBA has pointed out the disturbing trends to judges and is encouraging academics and lawyers to write reviews of such judgments and publish them to draw attention to them.

Besides, he said lawyers should, in presenting arguments before the court, not confuse the judges by not failing to bring to their attention the existence of the authority or make them believe that there have not been any previous decisions on the matter.

He explained that where there are previous decisions in existence, the lawyers should bring the existence of such a decision to the attention of the court so that it would be better guided in coming to a decision.

The NBA chairman described as worrisome the number of awaiting trial inmates in different correctional facilities, pointing out that 65 per cent of prison inmates in the country are those awaiting trial and not those who have been convicted for various crimes.

According to him, “Those are the condemned criminals, as you call them, who are already sentenced.

“They have had their day in court. We are worry about those who are simply remanded in prison facilities without having their cases tried, or their case taking an intolerable length of time to come to a conclusion.

“This is on account of one delay or the other, and sometimes serving more time in prison than they would if the court has convicted them, or even acquiring one disease or the other in prison, or even dying.”

On way forward Osigwe added that “We have mandated our Human Rights Committee to work with the Chief Judges of the states to ensure that they do prison visits, and also to give a directive to all magistrates that if you give a remand order, you must give a return date for a review.

“If the prosecution, Ministry of Justice, fails to file a charge, that they should order the release of such persons, so that people do not spend time in prison detention without being charged to court.

“This will also ensure that the courts, in line with provisions of the Police Act and the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, will visit detention facilities, whether of the police, of the army, of the DSS, of the NDLEA to check the length of time people have been detained there, to order that they be released on bail, to order that they charge them to court, or release them entirely.

“The bar is getting this engagement to ensure that people who have no reason to be in detention are released and that people do not spend a long time in detention without a charge being filed against them.

“We are doing advocacy, we are engaging to ensure that we comply with the provisions of the law to avoid this ugly situation being the dominant thing, being the reason rather why people are in various detention facilities.”

On discipline among members, Osigwe said “We are ensuring that our disciplinary process works, that petitions received against lawyers from members of the public, by lawyers, by litigants are attended to.

“We see that our disciplinary panels work, and that where a prima facie case or where it is believed that there is reason to go forward against the lawyer, for him to face the legal partitioner disciplinary committee, that such a lawyer goes there.”

OPINION: It’s 12 Years Of APC Curse Today!

Steve Osuji
Steve Osuji

By Steve Osuji

FEBRUARY 6TH, 2013: We won’t need a survey to determine that majority of Nigerians are today cursing the day the All Progressives Congress (APC) was birthed in Nigeria. Well, for your information, it happened exactly today, 12 years ago today.

Power harlots, strange bedfellows and an assortment of career criminals converge for one purpose: to grab power –  by hook  or crook.

The chief mover was Bola Tinubu, former governor of Lagos State and incumbent president. The arch-kleptocrat wanted presidential power by all means. He corralled a former military dictator,  Muhammadu Buhari, a tribalist and pretender to moral rectitude. The grand plan was to ride on the back of Buhari’s popularity in the north and take a turn at the presidency after him.

The plan worked perfectly for Tinubu who grabbed the high office after two terms of Buhari.

While APC makes pretences to being a political party, it’s a mere power-munching apparatus which has held Nigeria under its evil spell in the last dozen years.

10 EVILS OF THE APC: This agglomeration of power hounds has afflicted Nigeria every day in its 12 years of existence. Here are just a few:

ONE: APC UNLEASHED TERROR: In order to oust the ruling party, PDP, and gain power, APC in 2014, orchestrated terror in Nigeria. Yes, the Boko Haram group was already on since 2009, but it was given more fillip by the elements in APC who craved power.

Terror acts were revved up; bombs were suddenly going off all over the Northeast and even Abuja and the country was made nigh ungovernable. To the point that the incumbent president,  Goodluck Jonathan noted at the time,  that some terrorists were embedded in his cabinet.

Hear it from Wikipedia:

“Boko Haram attacks intensified in 2014. In February, the group killed more than 100 Christians in the villages of Dogon Baga and inzghe. That same month, 59 boys were killed in the Federal Government College attack.

“ In March, the group attacked the Giwa military barracks (Abuja) freeing captured militants. The Chibok abduction happened on the same day as the bombing attack in Abuja in which at least 88 people died.”

TWO : THE CHIBOK GIRLS GAMBIT: The pattern of terror  highlighted above can only be a planned culmination of the biggest heist the world has witnessed in this age. It was the precursor to the abduction of above 270 final year students of Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State.

The world erupted in indignation and disdain for the Jonathan administration. And that was the exact intent of the APC propaganda: to portray the incumbent as utterly  incompetent and unfit to lead.

THREE: COMPLICIT US AND THE WEST: Before the recent expose by investigative journalist, David Hundeyin concerning the dubious roles of USAID and some rogue US intelligence officials,  it was apparent that governments of the US and some European countries like Britain, Germany and France, among others, were complicit in the

APC plot to change government by blood and fire, mindlessly throwing in poor Nigerians as cannon fodder.

People have argued that there is no where in the world 270 girls could be abducted and kept undetected. Considering that the US has been tracking and vanquishing suspected terrorists even in their bedrooms with utmost accuracy.

It is therefore preposterous that the US and her allies could not pick the Chibok girls in their satellite. There was obvious collusion.

FOUR: THE BANDITS OF THE NORTH WEST: It is now common knowledge that as Boko Haram raged in the Northeast,  APC goons imported and armed hundreds of Fulani migrants and camped them in the hills of the Northwest. The plot was to deployed the ‘troop’ to destabilise Nigeria should President Goodluck Jonathan refuse to step down.

But Jonathan had an inkling of this plot but chose to step down in spite of obvious manipulations by INEC in the 2015 presidential elections. His ambition to remain in power wasn’t worth the shedding of the blood of Nigerian citizens, Jonathan was quoted to have said as he stepped down.

FIVE: TINUBU, EL RUFAI AND SHETTIMA: This is the triumvirate that masterminded the bloodstained APC power grab of 2015.

Kashim Shettima, the incumbent vice president, was the governor of Borno State during the Chibok girls abduction. He has a lot yet to tell Nigerians and the world about what transpired then and where the rest of the girls are.

Bola Tinubu, a confirmed US CIA asset was in charge of the soft operations and intel assistance from the US and UK.

El Rufai was the general commander of the APC Northwest command. After APC government was sworn in, the armed bandits of the Northwest became a major albatross of the Buhari administration. Rufai in a moment exasperation blurted out that he had paid off the bandits yet  they kept making more demands. They were therefore to be taken disposed off as criminals.

The APC government loathed to term the bandits a terror group despite the death and damnation they unleashed on Sokoto, Katsina, kaduna and Kebbi States among others.

SIX: PRESIDENT BUHARI, SICK AND INCOMPETENT: After all this evil machinations for power, Buhari eventually got sworn in as president on May 29, 2015.

Remember he had contested three previous times before 2O15. On the top job,  it soon dawned on the whole world,  perhaps,  including himself,  that he was a fake. Everything he presented to be, he was not.

First, he was vacuous and empty-headed. Which may explain why he had no educational certificates to show.  He was a sphinx in army uniform all his life.

Worse, APC media dogs packaged him as mai gaskiya. Literally, a good man of integrity. But the only redeeming thing about Buhari’s second coming as head of Nigeria is that he was defrocked. He was demystified. Out of army uniform,  he was actually a naked, miserable god. He turned out, after eight years, to be a man full of guiles with nary a modicum of integrity.

Finally perched on the number one seat  in Aso Rock,  Buhari blanked out, not knowing even the first thing to do. For many months, he couldn’t appoint his cabinet. Inertia stalked the land. In one year,  Nigeria’s economy crashed,  lapsing into recession. How can an oil producing nation seem to fail? It’s like a man earning huge monthly salary suffering insolvency.

SEVEN: BUHARI RUN RAGGED AND UPENDED AFTER EIGHT YEARS: For a man who contested for presidency for 16 years. His two terms in office was the most abysmal (well, until Tinubu). He dragged Nigeria back about 30 years,  an entire generation (he wasn’t even aware what transpired most of 8 years); the definition of crippling incompetence. He was almost half the time, in the UK managing his health at Nigeria’s expense, incapable of planting the kind of health facility he enjoyed out there.

In his last days in office, he was too tired and weary to understand how his succession went. All he wanted was to return to his native Daura. His wife Aisha became a diasporan midway in the tenure. Ensconced in Dubai and living in luxury away from the fire, fury and stench of Nigeria. She would show briefly to refill and restock and freeload, then vanish again.

8: ENTERS TINUBU, THE APC CARPETBAGGER: He’s the alter-ego of APC’s darkness. When it appeared for a moment that the mantle was going to fall away from him, he went public to cry that it was his turn to carry the  diadem. Emilokan! It’s my turn! Half wailing,  half asserting.

He eventually wangled his way and snatched it. Since then, it’s long-live king kong. Like Buhari,  all he wanted was the tag, President. .. and of course,  lucre unlimited! Governance.  Statesmanship. Best practice. Legacy. Fatherland. All these are mere words… Where’s the money damn it!?

NINE: CORRUPTION CAPITAL… Rapine APC has in just 10 years, gang-raped Nigeria and left her prostrate. Nigeria is today a synonym for corruption.

Late last year, the Organised Crime and Corruption Project (OCCRP) name Nigeria’s president among the three leaders in the world. Bashar Assad of Syria and William Ruto of Kenya are fellow infamous laureates with Tinubu.

No government official has as much as sneezed at this. Let’s take it that they didn’t see the OCCRP report. Under Tinubu,  Nigeria is being swallowed by what has been described as perverse corruption. A situation in which the leader converts the entirety of the commonwealth to his private estate.

In such a state, everything stops working. In fact nothing is walking: except the leader and his family and close associates. In such a situation of state seizure, you have the worst inflation,  worst currency,  worst interest rates, destructive taxes and tariffs regime, stagnation, misery and death for the people.

TEN: GOING FORWARD? No Nigerian is actually sure about tomorrow. They claim they are reforming the economy; but what do you get when people who ought to be in reformation home are play-acting as specialists. They have only succeeded in rendering Nigeria’s tomorrow doomed and  unpredictable.  Apart from the fact that nobody can plan, not many can smile too broadly at that.

Nigh everyone wants to escape… and everywhere seems better than home; the APC curse is omnipresent, ominous and pregnant with dark auguries.

Ganduje Commission Mgbidi-Oguta

“Delivering quality, durable roads critical to my administration” – Governor

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State was,  Thursday, joined by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress ( APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje and other key officials of the Party to formally commission the newly rebuilt 18 kilometres Mgbidi/Oguta dualised road, as well the 3.4 kilometres DSS interchange road in Owerri.

Both roads are critical to socio-economic activities in Imo State, given their direct link to the Owerri/Onitsha expressway and other towns and communities within the State.

During the commissioning of the 18-km Mgbidi/Oguta road, Governor Uzodimma averred that his administration remains committed to delivering quality and durable roads across the 27 Local Governments of the State and that so far, he  has achieved milestone in urban and rural road revolution in the State.

A Press Release issued by the Governor’s Chief Press SecretaryMedia Adviser, Oguwike Nwachuku, quoted him as stating that under the Road Revolution programme of his administration, over 120 solid roads across the three Senatorial zones of the State had been delivered, a feat he said has “remained a testament for the APC-led administration in the State which gives credence to the massive victory of the Party at the last Local Government elections in all 27 LGAs of the State.”

The Governor reiterated that part of the shared vision of his 3-R mantra was to diversify the economy and industrialise the State,  pointing out that the Mgbidi/Oguta Road will stimulate economic activities in Oru West and Oguta  Local Government Areas.

“It will create access to the Orashi Energy Free Zone and the proposed River Port in Oguta,” he added.

The Governor, therefore, entreated the Local Government Chairmen of Oru West and Oguta,  the traditional rulers and stakeholders in the areas, to take possession of the roads and ensure that the facilities used in their construction are protected against vandals.

At the commissioning of the DSS road, now renamed Abdullahi Ganduje Drive, the Governor said that “the road is a veritable and strategic road, as it links Orlu and Onitsha roads and provides a ring road within the State.”

He explained that the road underwent a holistic reconstruction and redesign, with necessary features and amenities in line with his administration’s commitment to enthroning an industrial, self-reliant economy that will be a pride of all Imo people and indeed Nigeria.

Governor Uzodimma then invited the APC National Chairman to commission the new DSS road whose name it now bears.

Earlier, the Imo State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure,  Barr. Ralph Nwosu said the Mgbidi/Oguta road is a broadway of 12-km and an additional 6-km of Oguta Road pointing out that Mgbidi town is a gateway to exploring the potentials that abound in Oguta.

Nwosu further explained that the 3.4-km DSS Road forms part of the inner ring road in Owerri and that road users travelling to and fro Mbaise, Okigwe, Umuahia, Orlu, Aba, from Onitsha can as well commute through the corridor to boycott traffic.

He reported that the newly commissioned roads were built according to engineering specification by an indigenous contractor –  Autograph Construction Company – who understands the language of quality in road construction.

The ceremonies attracted large crowds of residents and Imo people who could not hold their joy to complement the Governor for the road revolution.

Party faithful at the State and National levels, political office holders and appointees of government, traditional rulers and other important dignitaries were present to witness the event.
