OPINION: Do Children Of Politicians In Power Make Sense?

By Azu Ishiekwene

It’s understandable if you have not paid attention. I can’t help noticing because minding other people’s business is a part of my job description. On Tuesday, the newspapers reported a spat between the children of two leading politicians, Mohammed Abubakar and ShamsudeenBala Mohammed.

Mohammed and Shamsudeen are the children of Atiku and Bala. Atiku was Nigeria’svice president, and Bala isthe Bauchi State governorand chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum.

Both are ranking members of the main opposition,PDP, a party making as much effort to find its way as it is desperate to lose it. The tweetstorm between the children of these leaders has only piled on the party’s misery, and what lies ahead doesn’t look pretty, especially after the PDP governors’ meeting in Ibadan.

Back story

The fight between both sons is the political equivalent in the music industry of the bitter sibling rivalry between Peter and Jude Okoye, siblings now dragging themselves publicly over royalty from their once famous band, P-Square. If PDP had any royalty left, it squandered it on the insatiable appetite of its leaders, who have eaten the present and future of the party.

Atiku’s son is accusing Governor Mohammed of stabbing his father in the back when he ran for the presidency in 2023.The governor’s son responded that nobody plays as dirty as Atiku, whom he accused of undermining his father’s bid for a second term in Bauchi.

The tweet rage has sparked discussions about how far the children of politicians in power should go to fight publicly for or against their parents’ political interests and whether or not such brawls hinder or help their parents’ political fortunes.

In another life, it would have been considered poor breeding for teenagers or young adults to insert themselves in a fight between adults.

For example, despite the fight-to-the-finish between MKO Abiola and military president General Ibrahim Babangida, who cancelled the 1993 presidential election won by Abiola, their children stayed mainly out of the fray. The equivalence of social media has changed all that.

Born to rage

The pervasiveness of social media and its popularity, especially among teenagers and young adults, has increased the sense of agency among these groups and amplified their voices, however strident and deeply worrying they may get sometimes.

From the blogger and daughter of the famous Ibadan politician Kemi Olunloyo, who recently declared on her blog that she would have nothing to do with her family again after her father died, to Bashir, an unabashedly vile tweep and the son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, there is an emerging activism among the children of politicians. It’s a cross between rebellion and the search for identity or the process of becoming.

The more you look

Does it make sense? Is it always an indication of parental values or a measure of the family’s stand on political issues? Neither Atiku Abubakar nor Bala Mohammed has weighed in yet.Even though their children’s public fight feels like a scene from “Sons of the Caliphate”, nothing they said was false.Perhaps, it was how and the speed of the venom that raised eyebrows.

Before the 2023 elections, when Atiku’s protégé and prominent traditional titleholder in Bauchi, Bello Kirfi, fell out with Bala, the latter (with former Speaker Yakubu Dogara) openly worked against Bala’s reelection. During the presidential primaries in Abuja, Bala ran against Atiku.

The proxy war between Atiku’s man, Kirfi, and Bala almost cost the governor his reelection, an offence the governor will not forgive. He was saved by the skin of his teeth and the support of former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and the G5, after which Mohammed stripped Kirfi of his traditional title.

Rise of social media

Older adults who are used to nuanced, conservative methods of airing their grievances may be embarrassed, even offended, by the tweet brawl between Mohammed and Shamsudeen. Still, in the last two decades, we have seen that social media, the playground for teenagers and young adults, has also become a legitimate sphere of politics – and in the currentTrumpoverse,it’s even a tool of diplomacy, thanks to US President Donald Trump.

But should blog posts, often typically lacking in depth and context, become the measure of what is truly important and enduring? Do they represent more than what they are – random outbursts of fleeting thoughts from entitled or angry tribes? Or do they teach us something we need to pay attention to?

Price of feuds

Some years ago, Bobby Goodlatte took a stand on Twitter against his father, Bob, a Republican, whom he accused of “political grandstanding” that led to the sacking of an FBI agent Bobby described as “a patriot.” For that reason, he sided with a Democrat running against his father and used social media to mobilise votes for him.

We don’t even need to go far. In 2017, Moremi, daughter ofBabafemiOjudu, the former Special Adviser (Political Matters) to President Muhammadu Buhari, attacked the government, her father’s employer. Although she later apologised to her father, her action raisedquestions about who she was speaking for. Yet everyone knows it’s a generation that wears its emotions on its sleeve.

Who pays?

Seyi, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who uses the handle @STinubu, last tweeted in May 2023. But his activities offline, which invariably become rich social media harvests, have generated no less interest than that of the more social-media active children of other politicians. Do these children’s actions, especially online, carry any significant political risk for their parents?

The answer is, sometimes. A 2020 media psychology study said, “When people believe they are not alone in their cause, it encourages them to take action. For the children of well-known or newsworthy parents in the contentious political arena, their actions also become newsworthy by virtue of proximity to their parents and the unceasing demand for news content that will attract audience attention.”

The potential impact of such feuds could range from damage to political image to loss of credibility arising from a perception of lack of parental authority and a house divided against itself.

High-profile family disputes or squabbles amongst the children of political heavyweights can amplify the controversy and undermine the politician’s agenda. An example is the spectacular case of Bukola and Gbemisola in the Saraki dynasty. In cases where such children are viewed as potential successors, it could haunt them and fracture support.

“Sins” of the children

Even when children are old enough to answer their own names, in largely conservative societies, the “sins” of the children may weigh heavily on how their parents are perceived.

The tweet by Bashir El-Rufai, for example, that the killings in Southern Kaduna would continue until the attacks on Fulani herdsmen ceased was considered inflammatoryand insensitive. It was also deemed a reflection of his father’s politics as governor for eight years.

Seyi Tinubu’s offline comment that his father is the greatest president in Nigeria’s history raised a firestorm on social media. Whatever the cost of his comment, he is unlikely to be deterred, and his actions will continue to enrich social media content in the days ahead.

As we move closer to 2027, the actions of the children of newsworthy politicians will be a valuable lens by which we try to view and understand the political space. We’ll wait to see how much this currency will shape the future.

Fmr. Enugu APC Chairman, Nwoye, Quits Party, Destination Yet Unknown

0
Dr Ben Nwoye

By Suleiman Anyalewechi

“I am not a political prisoner. I have never been, and I can never be. The situation in Enugu State is not an isolated case.

“For example, in Anambra, the National leadership did not care to hear the voice of HE Senator Chris Ngige before awarding the gubernatorial ticket to the highest bidder.

“In Abia state, where are the likes of Dr Ikechi Emenike ,and Anyim Nyerenye? In Ebonyi State, where is the voice of Senator Julius Ucha?

“In Imo state, where is HE Owelle Rochas Okorocha and Ugwumba Uche Nwosu? These are great men who risked it all ,and made tremendous sacrifices to ensure that APC gained ground in the South East .Today, their opinion no longer matter. So it is time to move on and discover a new frontier.”

With the above lamentation, former Enugu State Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Dr Ben Nwoye, on Thursday, April 17, 2025, signed off as a  member of the party of which he was a founding member in 2013.

At a Media briefing in Enugu, Nwoye expressed deep frustration over the jettisoning of the founding principles of the party as well as the debilitating internal contradictions, conflicts, and politics of vindictiveness that have engulfed the party.

According to him, the erosion of the core values of the APC is evident, and completely permissive in not just Enugu state but across the entire South East zone.

This, he insisted, has completely alienated almost all the founding chieftains of the party in all the five states of the region.

His resignation was contained in a letter addressed to the APC Chairman in his Amurri Ward of Nkanu West Local Council of Enugu State.

In the letter, Dr Nwoye, regretted that the APC in the State, and the South East region as whole has abandoned its core values, in exchange for individual agenda.

According to Nwoye, a former spokesperson for the Forum of APC State Chairmen, what remains of the once political behemouth are “two skeletal structures.

“With a deep sense of responsibility, I write to inform you that I hereby resign as a member of All Progressive Congress.

“My resignation is as a result of the disintegration of the leadership of the party in Enugu state .

“The bunch of “Broom” which we painstakingly tied together in 2013 at a time when we were called unprintable names ,has loosened and permanently scattered.

“All efforts made by the Party Elders to gather, the “Broom”, and reassemble it has failed. In its current form, further attempts to reassemble the ” Broom” in Enugu state is no longer practicable.

“What is left of the Broom are two skeletal structures. One of each structure is held by two strong men .One of the strong men claims chairmanship by judicial pronouncement.

“While the other claims chairmanship through arrogant disobedience  of the same judicial pronouncement aided by the silent approval of National Leadership”, Nwoye’s resignation letter partly reads .

The former APC Chairman in the state, particularly expressed serious concern, that in the midst of the unfortunate situation, the national leadership of the party has continued not just playing the ostrich ,but encouraging the warring parties to self destruct and kill the party.

However, it is not yet known what will be the next political move of Nwoye. But speculations are rife, that like Hon Chijioke Edoga, the 2023 gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party LP, Nwoye may most likely be joining forces with Governor Peter Mba in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu Seeks Cooperation Of Royal Fathers For Pet Project

First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has sought the cooperation of Traditional Rulers to enhance success of her women focused  Renewed Hope Initiative, (RHI)as she flagged off the South West phase of the project.

Mrs Tinubu spoke on Thursday, when she visited Akure, the Ondo State capital, and addressed members of the Ondo State Council of Obas, urging the royal fathers to lend their voice and influence to her advocacy, which aims to address critical health challenges affecting Nigerian women.

These include the elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B, Syphilis, and Tuberculosis.

As part of her drive to strengthen healthcare delivery, the First Lady announced plans to distribute no fewer than 10,000 professional kits, comprising Crocs and scrubs, to nurses and midwives across the South-West region.

She also hinted at a new menstrual hygiene campaign tagged Flow with Confidence, through which her office intends to supply 10,000 sanitary pads to young girls in each state, with a focus on rural areas.

“Ending female genital mutilation is also one of our key priorities. It’s a harmful and outdated tradition built on myths. It does not stop promiscuity, as some believe.

“Instead, it destroys the lives of young girls,” urging traditional leaders to help spread the message in their domains.

The First Lady didn’t stop there. She spoke passionately about boosting food production through the Young Farmers’ Club and Women’s Gardening Initiative, which she said had attracted a massive N400 billion intervention fund from the Ministry of Agriculture.

According to her, each state’s First Lady received a grant of N68.9 million to support women farmers under the programme.

Also on the agenda is a scholarship scheme for students, including international education opportunities in Belarus as well as the Alternative High School for Girls, an initiative tailored for teenage mothers, providing both education and childcare support through on-site crèches.

She revealed that while the programme is already operational in Osun State, it will soon be launched in Ondo.

Welcoming the First Lady, the Chairman of the Ondo State Council of Obas and Olowo of Owo, Oba Gbadegesin Ogunoye, who was represented by the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, commended Mrs Tinubu’s initiatives and pledged the support and prayers of the traditional institution.

“We may not be able to offer financial help, but our prayers will never cease for the success of President Tinubu’s administration,” the monarch assured.

Oba Aladelusi also hailed the First Lady’s loyalty and visible support for her husband, stating: “By the time Asiwaju completes his first term, Nigerians will beg him to go for another.”

The highlight of the visit was the symbolic presentation of a gift to Mrs Tinubu by the wife of Ondo State Governor, Mrs Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa.

Welcoming the First Lady, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa pointed out that the intervention, under the Renewed Hope Initiative Programme (RHI) will complement the Federal Government’s on-going efforts to ensure that quality healthcare system is accessible to all women and vulnerable in the Country.

“Permit me Your Excellency to state that this intervention will also go a long way to enhance maternal and child healthcare across Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti States which constitute the South-West region. he Country.

“Your Excellency, I sincerely appreciate you for recognising that the demands of the health profession require not only skills and compassion but also the right tools and kits to encourage our midwives as they serve others. These incentives will go a long way to encourage, inspire and support our dedicated midwives and reduce infant mortality and morbidity in the country.

“I therefore urge the beneficiaries to see this as a call to serve, bringing hope and care to mothers, newborns and the vulnerable across the region. You should strive to justify these benefits by working hard to ensure improved health outcomes in our Country, Nigeria.”

“Quadri’s case is a painful example of the putrefying corruption, monstrous impunity, and pervasive injustice in the Nigeria Police Force” – Inebehe

After three months of detention at the Kirikiri Prisons, Lagos, and wrongful prosecution, Quadri Alabi, the teenager who sneaked into national consciousness in 2023 when he intercepted, in Lagos, the  campaign convoy of Peter Obi  Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, has been freed by the Court.

Alabi was freed on Thursday, April 17, 2025, by an Apapa Magistrate Court on the advice of the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions who looked at his file, and found him innocent of the allegations fabricated against him by the Police and touts in his area to be absolutely false.

And now, for the untidy role the Police played by fabricating an allegation of armed robbery against him, and falsifying his age from 17 years to 18 years just to nail him, Alabi’s Lawyer, Inebehe Effiong, is asking, on his behalf, an apology, the sum of N100m as compensation, and a disciplinary  action agaunst the Divisional Police Officer, Amukoko, the investigating Police Officer, and all those involved in the untidy and ugly business of Alabi’s ordeal.

Alabi’s problem began in 2023 after the iconic picture where he stood in front of  Obi’s Campaign vehicle and focused his innocent eyes on Obi as if his future depended on Obi. A smiling Obi gazed back straight into Alabi’s eyes.

A number of Obi’s fans and loyalists, moved by Alabi’s action, individually, appreciated him with some funds. In the locality where he lives with his parents, Alabi became a target of envy.  They wanted him to share the money. His parents were appealed to by the local leadership to buy a cow and hold a feast for them just to appease them. But two groups of urchins in the area,  according to Inebehe, known as Lege and Baba Waris, not satisfied, kept harassing Alabi, and finally targeted and abducted him on his way from work, and hauled before the Amokoko Police Division.

The report to the Police was that he was involved in street fights, and so, a menace in the neighbourhood. Alabi was locked up, but surprisingly, the Police hauled him before the Court, and changed the reported alleged offence to armed robbery. They locked  charged him with three persons all of whom Alabi had never met before. Worse, they falsified his age from 17 to 18 years. But all that ended Thursday.

In a post on his X page where he announced Alabi’s freedom, Effiong wrote: “At the Court today, the presiding Magistrate, His Honour, A.O. Olorunfemi (Mrs), confirmed that the legal advice issued by the Director of Public Prosecutions ( DPP), of the Ministry of Justice, Lagos State, Dr. Babajide Martins, showed that there was no evidence to substantiate the allegation of armed robbery against Quadri.

“In his legal advice, the DPP recommended the non- prosecution of Quadri. Thus  the presiding Magistrate discharged him and he was accordingly freed.

“Quadri’s case is a painful example  of the putrefying corruption, monstrous impunity, and  pervasive injustice in the Nigeria Police  Force.”

Inibehe is demanding for the sum of N100m, public apology to Quadri Alabi disciplinary action by the Police Leadership against the DPO Amokoku Police Division, the Investigative Police officer, for falsifying a report of even a false allegation of street fight to armed robbery, as well as  falsifying Alabi’s age from 17 years to 18 years.

Insecurity: Obi Commends Northern Traditional Ruler’s Bold Steps

Peter Obi
Mr Peter Obi

The 2023 Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi has commended the Northern Traditional Rulers for taking bold steps on the menacing security challenges in the region and in the country.

Obi, who was reacting to the ‘Enough is Enough’ declaration of the royal fathers on the security situation, said that their courageous steps are needed to find a lasting solution to the menace.

Writing on his X handle, Obi said “I would like to sincerely thank the Northern Traditional Rulers for their courageous and timely emergency declaration of the security situation in the region. I cannot agree less with them that  “Enough is Enough” regarding the persistent killings and insecurity plaguing our nation.

“Their collective voice, as reported, underscores the urgent need for decisive action to protect lives and restore peace in our communities.

“I urge governments at all levels to work closely with these royal fathers who are closest to the people at the grassroots. Their commitment to addressing these challenges and offering counsel to regional governors reflects true leadership and a deep concern for the well-being of their communities.

“The stance of the Northern Traditional Rulers serves as a clarion call to all stakeholders. We must unite, irrespective of political affiliations, to implement lasting solutions that address the root causes of our nation’s challenges.

“Let us work together to build a Nigeria where every citizen feels safe, valued, and empowered.

House Of Reps Has No  Powers To Oversee Rivers  Administration

Obioma Ezenwobodo

By Obioma Ezenwobodo

The action of the House of Representatives creating a committee to oversee the Rivers State Assembly is an extension of the prevailing and manifest illegality unraveling in that State. The essence of section 11 (4) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as altered) on which it is basing its powers to create such a committee or make legislative interventions is unfounded and misapplied.

A careful reading of the said section reveals that it is meant to be applicable in a democratic setting with the complement of a democratically elected Governor and not otherwise. The section envisages a legislative life-support provided by the National Assembly where a State House of Assembly is unable to perform its functions of making laws for a State in a democratic dispensation.

Most importantly, the proviso to section 11 (4) is an injunctive provision that explicitly restrains the National Assembly, while providing legislative intervention, from removing either the Governor or the Deputy Governor. Thus, the National Assembly is precluded by section 11(4) from exercising the powers to make laws for a State during a period of emergency as the Constitution in section 1(2) expressly forbid any person or group of persons from taking control of the Government of Nigeria or any part thereof except in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution.

It is about a month ago that both the House of Representative and the Senate partnered in truncating constitutional democracy in Rivers State via a presidential fiat that foisted an illegal and unconstitutional Sole Administration on the State in a brazen disregard and clear violation of the clear and express provisions of the provisions of section 305 of the CFRN 1999 (as altered). No orderliness, legality, or constitutionality can be conferred on the manifestly illegal administration in Rivers State.

The act of the House of Representatives in overseeing the actions and activities of the illegal Sole Administrator in Rivers State is tantamount to aiding and abetting the continued rape of democracy in Rivers State.

The whole situation is riddled with absurdities as it is otiose and inconceivable for the National Assembly, which the House of Representatives belongs to, to make laws or pass a resolution to be assented to or implemented by the Sole Administrator.

The scheduled interactive session between the House of Representatives Ad-Hoc Committee on Rivers State Oversight, and the Sole Administrator of Rivers State has been suspended .

The meeting between the Hon Julius Ihonvbere- led 21-member Committee and Vice Admiral Ibok Ete Ibas had earlier been scheduled for Thursday  April 17 ( today ) at  4 pm.

But a statement from the House Spokesperson, Hon Akintunde Rotimi, Thursday morning, informed that the  postponement of the meeting was at the instance of the Rivers state Sole  Administrator.

However, his reasons for asking for the rescheduling of the session were not made public.

“The Ad-Hoc Committee on Rivers State Oversight  has received a formal  request from the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, rtd, to reschedule the interactive session initially set for today April 17, 2025 at 4pm .

“The Committee has acknowledged the request, and is in the process of coordinating a new date for the session, and will in the spirit of transparent  and effective oversight, promptly inform the public once the rescheduled date is confirmed”, the committee stated.

The Source reports that the National Assembly had put together the Ad-Hoc Committee to ensure a strict adherence to the resolutions reached during the approval of the state of emergency declaration by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

There have been growing fears and apprehension that the Sole Administrator may significantly overstep his mandate ,going by  some decisions so far taken.

South West Governors Shun Politics, Embrace Regional Development – Oyebanji

0
South West Governors

By Ayodele Oni

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has declared that the six South West Governors are collaborating to ensure regional development achievable during the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s regime in the defunct Western region.

Oyebanji pointed out that the six governors are putting behind political differences and collaborating towards ensuring the development of the region.

The governor spoke in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital while declaring open the fifth edition of South West Secretaries to the State Government Forum, tagged, ‘Strategic Partnership for Regional Development’.

Oyebanji explained that the governors under the leadership of his counterpart in Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu are putting ideas and policies together alongside other stakeholders for the socio-economic development of the states.

According to him, the era of state governments independently approaching governance programmes without synergy from others is gone, saying that only through collaboration would afford the region opportunities for economic and social growth.

While emphasizing the strategic roles of the Secretaries to the State Government to the success of any administration, the governor called on the six participating SSGs to remain committed to offering quality and actionable advice to their respective governors.

Oyebanji acknowledged the efforts of the Development Agenda For Western Nigeria (DAWN) commission in the quest for the regional development, revealing that the three areas of focus in agriculture, rail line and AI are critical in changing the narratives and positioning the region for accelerated development.

The governor said, ” I want to commend the DAWN commission for their efforts and job well-done and particularly the three thematic areas in rail line, agriculture and Artificial Intelligence, because this is the game changer. What will happen to us as a race will depend on how we will catch up with the world.

“In Ekiti State, I just met some stakeholders where we discussed how to empanel AI as a tool for our primary and secondary schools,we want to catch them young.

“The establishment of the South West Development Commission(SWDC) is the outcome of collaboration, so between the South West governors Forum, DAWN commission and the SWDC, the three structures should be able to put in place the roadmap for development of our zone.

“The best government we have had as a zone was during Chief Obafemi Awolowo, and it was regional government, when they leverage on the comparative advantages of the regions then to develop South West and everything we depend on today were done during that era.

“There is a limit to what we can do alone and I must commend Governor Sanwo-Olu for leading us well in the region.”

The Director-General, DAWN Commission, Dr. Seye Oyeleye lauded the forum of the SSG, adding that it would provide a platform for sharing ideas and policies towards regional development and progress.

Oyeleye urged the state governments to set machineries in motion alongside the SWDC in implementing the three key areas rail infrastructure, livestock agriculture and Artificial Intelligence as developed by the commission.

He said, “To this end, we immediately embarked on the preparation of comprehensive concept notes and position papers focused on the three critical sectors identified as key to driving our regional transformation: regional rail infrastructure, livestock agriculture, and artificial intelligence.

“This work has been guided by a commitment to excellence and the ambition to position the Southwest as a leader in these strategic areas. To ensure the highest level of expertise and innovation, we have engaged some of the most accomplished professionals and thought leaders in these fields.

“Today, they will share with us their insights and well-researched

strategies through detailed presentations that promise to provide actionable frameworks for development. We selected regional rail infrastructure, livestock agriculture, and artificial intelligence as priority sectors through careful deliberation, not arbitrary choice.

”The Southwest possesses significant comparative advantages in these areas, which also present unique opportunities for cross-state collaboration yielding benefits exceeding what states could achieve independently.”

“Tinubu’s Dereliction Of Duty On Catastrophic Scale” – Atiku Abubakar

0
Atiku Abubakar and Bola Tinubu

“On April 2, 2025, President  Bola Tinubu flew out to France. Had this absurd announcement come just a day earlier, Nigerians would have dismissed it as an April Fool’s joke. But sadly, it’s no prank — just another insult to a nation pushed to the brink by a presidency that treats its citizens like fools.

“The official excuse?

“A so-called “working visit.” But Nigerians aren’t buying the spin. The Presidency scrambled to clarify that it wasn’t a medical trip — how noble. But even if it’s not medical tourism, what justification is there for gallivanting across Europe while Nigeria bleeds? What kind of leader borrows billions only to blow scarce funds on vanity trips abroad? It’s not just irresponsible— it’s contemptuous.

“Let the facts speak for themselves. By the time Tinubu struts back from this latest escapade, he will have racked up a staggering 59 days in France since assuming office. “See Paris and die?” No — see Paris and abandon your country.

“While Tinubu dines under chandeliers in the land of good governance, the country he governs is spiraling into chaos.

“Plateau has turned into a killing field — over 100 lives lost in relentless attacks. Benue is bleeding. Boko Haram is seizing territory. And every single day, Nigerians sink deeper into poverty, insecurity and despair.

“This isn’t just negligence. It’s dereliction of duty on a catastrophic scale.

“If Tinubu had even a shred of empathy, he would cut his trip short and return immediately. A leader with an ounce of patriotism wouldn’t need to be begged to show up in times of crisis.

“The constitution says the security and welfare of the people is the primary purpose of government. But under Tinubu, that sacred duty has been trashed.

“Let’s be honest: there is absolutely nothing Tinubu is doing in France that he couldn’t do in Lagos, or even in Iragbiji. This so-called “working visit” is nothing more than a vacation cloaked in official jargon.

“Nigeria is in a full-blown state of emergency. Not a contrived political emergency like what Tinubu declared in Rivers for partisan gain — this is a national collapse.

“So when, exactly, will Tinubu declare a state of emergency on his own disastrous presidency?
