Kwankwasiyya, Obidient Groups Set Atiku On Fire  Over Anti-South  Presidential Ticket

Atiku desperation has beclouded him – Kwankwasiyya

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has been roasted by opposition political parties over his comments that it is not possible for a Southern Presidential Candidate to defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

Recall that Atiku had taken an exception to the zoning of the Presidential seat by opposition Parties to the South. He vehemently warned against it, and   argued that while it is okay for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to retain its zoning arrangement in the south with  President Tinubu as its candidate it would be politically naive and unwise for the opposition to choose same Zone for its candidate. According to Atiku, it is akin to handing Tinubu victory on a platter of gold.

But both the Kwankwasiyya and Obidient Movements strongly disagree with the former Vice President position.

They dismissed Atiku’s  argument in an interview with The Punch as “politically narrow, divisive and inconsistent with the country’s power-sharing understanding.”

Habibu Muhammed, spokesman for the Kwankwasiyya Movement, dismissed  Atiku’s stand as “insulting and divisive.”

He said “I believe Atiku is only talking for himself. I think his desperation is such that he could not even hide it or give it a different colour.

“To me, that statement is insulting. It is like saying there is no qualified person other than yourself in all the States in the South.

“The former Vice President has continued to showcase some kind of primordial thoughts. This does not actually relate to someone who has experience, once ran with a Southerner, worked with Southerners and even married a Southerner.

“If you begin to echo out what you personally believe that loudly, to me, it is insulting. It means he actually wanted to promote something else, not national unity.

“He was trying to arm people who already don’t see anything good in the South. He is just giving them ammunition to continue to amplify the hatred and defy the division that is already there.

“What we need now is a ticket that will bring unity to this country, calm nerves and make people generally feel at home.

“Whether we like it or not, it is already part of us, and it is within our consciousness that it is only natural when a Northerner serves a term of eight years. He gives way for a Southerner also to do the same.

“So the best thing for now is to actually give another Southerner the chance and Nigerians the opportunity to choose from the same zone. At least, they have a choice to go for someone who may actually lessen their pain or who may change the way things are.”

In Labour Party’s response, its National Publicity Secretary, Ken Asogwa, dismissed Atiku’s stand, and insisted that the 2023 presidential election  already made nonsense of the argument that a Southern opposition candidate could not defeat another southerner.

Asogwa: “With due respect to the former Vice President and the experience he has garnered in Nigerian politics over the past three decades, I am sorry to say that he got his permutation wrong.

“Even going by what transpired in 2023, the analysis is flawed. We had two strong Southern candidates, alongside pockets of support for other Southern candidates, yet a Southerner still emerged victorious.

“The combined votes of the two northern candidates in that election – Atiku (6.9m votes) and Kwankwaso (1.4m votes) – were still less than what one southern candidate – Tinubu (8.7m votes) – got in the election.

“More importantly, the permutation is built on the erroneous assumption that regional origin is the only factor that determines voting behaviour in Nigeria. It ignores the prevailing national mood and the deeper considerations that shape electoral choices.

“For instance, a voter from the Middle Belt is likely to vote based on what each candidate’s presidency represents for the security, inclusion, and stability of their region.

“And as we know, the Middle Belt is not merely a geographical region; it is an identity that cuts across the three geopolitical zones in the North.

“Therefore, with due respect, His Excellency Atiku Abubakar’s argument is pedestrian,” he said.

National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, Yunusa Tanko, said Obi and Kwankwaso moved to the NDC after discovering plans to entangle the ADC in litigations that could deny them presidential tickets.

“It is very important to go out and educate those who do not know why Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso moved from the ADC to the NDC.

“They put up a booby-trap so that by the time they are in there (ADC), they will close the gap using litigation and ensure that they do not have a ticket.

“But God made it possible for us to see the danger ahead of them. So, we provided an alternative, which is the NDC. The door of the NDC is open to us. Let us move en masse and build the party. Let’s get a ticket for Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso.

“They have the wherewithal. They are young, have capacity, consistent, character, accountable and have compassion.”

Atiku Kicks As Ex-Federal Law Maker Dies In Kidnappers Den, Blames Tinubu’s Govt

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has expressed serious concern over the worsening insecurity in the country. Atiku expressed this concern as he mourned the death of a former House of Representatives member, Honourable Abba Anas Adamu in the hands of suspected terrorists elements.

Hon Adamu, a former Lawmaker who represented Guri/Kirikasama Federal Constituency of Jigawa State, was abducted on the ever-busy Kaduna/Abuja Highway on May 3, 2026, by bandits.

He however, died in the  terrorists’ den in the early hours of Tuesday May,12, 2026,  while his family members, relations, friends and associates were rallying round for his safe rescue.

In a statement on Tuesday by Frank Shaiubu,  his spokesperson, Atiku described the tragic and terrifying death of the  former Legislator in the hands of terrorists as a stark reminder of the new low the security situation in the country has descended.

According to Atiku, the kidnap and subsequent death of the former Lawmaker represents a damning verdict on the failure of  President Bola Tinubu’s administration in providing adequate protection for the citizenry.

Honourable Abba Anas Adamu

Atiku ,a prominent figure in the opposition Coalition platform, the African Democratic Congress, ADC, and one of its leading Presidential hopefuls, accused the President Tinubu-led Federal Government of Nigeria of gross failure in discharging one of its sacred constitutional duties to the people.

“His (Hon Adamu) death is yet another grim reminder of the worsening collapse of security under the Tinubu’s administration.

“Let us be brutally honest; Nigeria is under siege ,and the Tinubu’s administration appears either overwhelmed, indifferent, or dangerously incompetent in the face of this national emergency.

“When a  former member of the National Assembly can be abducted on one of the country’s most strategic highways ,and die in captivity, what hope remains for the ordinary Nigerian who lacks visibility, influence or protection.

“This is no longer about isolated incidents. It is now a horrifying pattern. Nigerias are being kidnapped from highways, farms, communities, even their homes, while the Government continues to issue sterile statements, and recycled assurances that bear no resemblance to the lived reality of our people” Atiku stated.

The former Vice president regretted that under the Tinubu administration, insecurity has disturbingly evolved from a crisis to a cruel and embarrassing national routine.

According to him, while citizens now travel with prayers instead of protection, families sleep with only one eye closed.

He expressed serious concern that businesses and economic activities have been forced to close down, and farmers desert their farmlands on account of the worsening insecurity in the country.

Atiku emphasized that a government that has failed woefully in securing the lives and properties of its people cannot, in all honesty, claim to be in existence.

“A Government that cannot secure its highways cannot claim to govern. A Government that watches citizens get hunted like prey has failed the most elementary test of leadership.

“It is particularly tragic that the Abuja-Kaduna corridor and surrounding routes have remained notorious theatres of terror despite repeated promises, security budgets running into trillions, and endless propaganda.about progress.

“Nigerians deserve answers. What exactly is the security strategy of this administration? Where is the urgency? Where is accountability? How many more deaths must be recorded before this Government realises that press releases.do not defeat bandits”, Atiku noted .

Finally, he extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, the people of Jigawa State and Nigerians over the painful loss.

The former minister said he alongside his supporters suffered under the Buhari’s government despite their overwhelming support to ensure that he won that historic election.

The former New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP Presidential candidate who recently joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC made the remark on Monday in Arise Television, saying the former Nigerian leader failed to compensate or recognised his efforts to ensure that he won the presidential election that year.

Kwankwanso said he worked so “hard”  and put his life in danger to ensure victory for Buhari , stressing that he was later forgotten as soon as the latrer rose to power.

“I worked so hard. We brought about 1.9, almost 2 million votes. But as politicians, we are not recognised. We put our lives even on the line at that time, “ he said.

Adding that “Unfortunately, we could not see any benefit either as individuals or the constituencies that we represented.”

The magazine reports that the former Kano helmsman has now teamed up with the 2023 Labour Party, LP Presidential candidate, Peter Obi to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.

LP Reflects On Peter Obi, Says He Is Sorely Missed By Party

Labour Party has reflected  Peter Obi’s influence and his aftermath departure from the party, acknowledging that the exit of the former presidential candidate, has created what it described as a significant vacuum within its ranks.

The party’s Public Secretary, Ken Asogwa, made the remark during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily.

“We can’t close our eyes to the fact that we lost Peter Obi; he was a colossus within the party. The last time I came here, I remember saying that his departure left a void in the party.”

According to him, the party had anticipated the development before Obi eventually exited.

“We lost a colossus within the party, but the party envisaged it. Remember that before his departure, the rumour was already out there that he was leaving, and he eventually left on the 31st of December,” he added.

Obi, who flew the Labour Party flag in the 2023 presidential election, first left for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in December 2025 and later moved to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), citing internal disputes as part of his reason for switching platforms.

Despite the setback, Asogwa insisted that the party has begun rebuilding, saying it has returned to the “drawing board” to reorganise its structure and membership base.

“We discover that the greatest potential the Labour Party has is the institutional members it has in the name of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC).

“The former leadership annihilated them, but thankfully, we were able to bring them back to the fold, and we are together today,” he added.

On the question of leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections, Asogwa maintained that the party remains confident in its ability to produce another strong presidential candidate.

“So on the issue of the person who is going to drive the face of this project in 2027, I don’t want to preempt what is going to happen in our presidential primaries, but I can assure you that the Labour Party that produced the former presidential candidate has even better capacity today to produce someone of a commensurate stature,” he said.

Atiku Hands Victory To Tinubu In 2027 Presidential Election

African Democratic Congress, ADC, Presidential hopeful in 2027, Atiku Abubakar, has handed President Bola Tinubu victory in the upcoming election.

In a statement, Atiku, in a bid to rubbish the zoning of the Presidential ticket for 2027 by a number of the opposition parties, to the South said that with a Southern candidate, President Tinubu would win the election effortlessly, almost.

According to him, no candidate from Southern Nigeria, the same  Zone as the incumbent President Bola Tinubu will be able to beat him (Tinubu).

What to do? What is the solution?

Atiku said the opposition can only hold a candle to Tinubu if a Northern Candidate confronts him.

President Bola Tinubu
President Bola Tinubu

At least, three opposition parties – Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Labour Party, LP, and the Social Democratic Party, SDP, have zoned their tickets to the South.

But in the statement signed by his spokesperson, Olusola Sanni, Atiku slammed opposition parties against embracing, according to him, “a self-defeating and intellectually dishonest narrative that insists the 2027 presidential ticket must be zoned exclusively to the South.” Politics must be driven by strategy, coalition-building, and hard electoral arithmetic—not emotional talking points or selective moral arguments, he posited.

Atiku: “The first and most obvious question is this: how does a Southern opposition candidate realistically unseat a sitting Southern president? Nigerian political history offers no precedent for such an outcome.

“No incumbent president has ever been defeated by an opposition challenger from the same geopolitical bloc. To insist otherwise is to enter the contest already defeated.

“By 2027, the South would have held presidential power for approximately 18 years in the Fourth Republic, compared to about 10 years for the North. If the South retains power for another four years, that disparity widens even further.

“It, therefore, becomes difficult to understand the justice in an argument that seeks to deepen an already existing imbalance under the guise of equity.”

He accused some political actors of selective memory and opportunism, especially, those who abandoned the zoning principle in 2011 following the death of President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, only to pretend now that it is a sacred political doctrine.

His words: “It is intellectually dishonest for those who enthusiastically supported a Southern presidency under Goodluck Jonathan in 2011, despite the North’s legitimate expectation under the informal zoning arrangement, to now suddenly posture as custodians of rotational justice. Principles do not become sacred only when they align with personal ambition.”

Probably with Peter Obi in mind, he  agreed that  the Southeast’s aspiration for  a president from its Zone is legitimate and deserving of serious national engagement, but  warned against reducing that aspiration to “transactional political bargaining.”

Atiku: “The Southeast deserves a sustainable and credible pathway to national leadership—not symbolic tokenism or bespoke arrangements tailored to satisfy one individual’s ambition.

“Defeating an incumbent President requires realism, not romanticism; strategy, not sentiment; honesty, not selective memory. The opposition must decide whether its goal is to make an emotional statement or to actually win power.”

OPINION: When Will Our Children Start Killing Us?

Valentine Obienyem

By Valentine Obienyem

Before you scratch your head in perplexity, let me begin by affirming that patricide is not new in history. Though rare, documented evidence exists. Cases recorded in the Western world suggest killings motivated by the desire to inherit parental wealth; others arose from children retaliating against abusive parents. Severe mental illness, too, can lead to such tragedies.

Lately, in our society, we have seen – or watched on social media platforms  – children who kill their parents under the influence of drugs, of which we now have frighteningly many variants: Igbo, Cana, loud, Colorado, Molly, tramadol, codeine, skunk, mkpurummiri, crack cocaine, okuisinaja, methamphetamine, and various synthetic substances now circulating among youths.

There is also a new and dangerous scenario in town which, if unchecked, may in future lead to children killing their parents. I feel compelled to discuss this because, as Terence wrote many years ago: “Homo sum, humani nihil a me alienum puto”  –  “I am human, and nothing human is alien to me.”

A great civilisation is not conquered from without until it has destroyed itself from within. This is exactly at play among us.  One begins to wonder whether, in celebrating moral collapse as freedom, we are not gradually destroying ourselves from within.

There are many mothers on social media who have virtually lost all sense of restraint because of monetisation.  Lest Prof. Chinyere Stella Okunna reminds be that men also are guilty, let me confess that we are all involved. The easiest means of attracting traffic now seems to be through explicit sexual content. I will use one woman whose page I inadvertently came across as an example. I shall conceal her identity because the aim is not to destroy her, but to use her case for illustration.

The woman in question should be in her late twenties. She was married to a pastor and has two children from the marriage before their separation. She often elicited public sympathy by shedding tears over not being allowed to see her children after the separation.

Last week, she was all over social media celebrating the recent court ruling that granted her access to the children, inviting the public to rejoice with her and seeking consoling words from sympathisers who viewed her as a victim of cruelty and injustice.

The truth is that, if I were the judge, I would probably not have granted such access. From what she says, does, and posts on social media, she should be considered a danger to children. There is virtually nothing she does not say about the private parts of the body. Her utterances and conduct are too revolting to be repeated here.

I watched the first meeting with her children, who are still under ten and probably do not yet have access to social media. But what happens when they eventually do? By the time these children gain access to those platforms and see the irresponsibility of their mother, how will they feel? Has she reflected on the psychological trauma, humiliation, and loss of self-esteem this will certainly inflict on them? If the girl child becomes wayward, the refrain will quickly become: “Like mother, like daughter.”

Has she imagined a situation where one of the children confronts her with one of those disgraceful videos and asks, “Mummy, is this you?” Has she imagined hearing the devastating words: “Mummy, I hate you?”

No child who repeatedly watches such content from a parent will escape deep emotional conflict. And when these children get to secondary school or university, their peers, acting with the sometimes cruel recklessness associated with youth, will circulate those videos and pictures before them. They may get to the point where they avoid even ordinary disagreements with classmates for fear that their mother’s videos will be used against them.

When humiliation becomes unbearable, hatred may begin to grow. Such hatred, in extreme cases, can degenerate into violent resentment. A society that normalises reckless indecency without considering its consequences on children may, in the future, begin to reap tragic outcomes. Some children, out of a beclouded sense of anger and shame, may even take the extreme step of harming their parents for making life unbearable for them and subjecting them to ridicule. Patricide is noticed out.  Is this not a possibility?

What is even more disturbing is that many of these people are constantly encouraged by crowds of reckless admirers on social media who cheer every act of indecency in the name of “freedom” and “self-expression.” They urge them to “do what makes you happy,” without pausing to ask what becomes of the innocent children whose lives are tied to such public recklessness.

What kind of society applauds a mother gradually stripping her children of dignity before the entire world? What kind of freedom ignores responsibility, honour, and the emotional safety of children? Social media has created a dangerous culture where shame is now mistaken for boldness, vulgarity celebrated as confidence, and irresponsibility defended as empowerment.

Many of those clapping today will never bear the consequences tomorrow. They will not be there when the children battle humiliation in school, sink into depression, develop hatred toward their parents, or struggle with damaged self-worth. It is easy to type “Queen, keep shining” from behind a phone screen; it is the children who will carry the scars in real life.

A society that continuously normalises obscenity, mocks decency, and glorifies every excess in the pursuit of traffic and monetisation is gradually raising a generation emotionally wounded from childhood. And wounded children, if care is not taken, can grow into angry and dangerous adults.
