Ex Gov Fayose On Tweeter, Says Buhari Has Enslaved Nigerians For The Next 50 Years |The Source

By Ayodele Oni

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose tweeted at the weekend that Nigeria’s fortune has been mortgaged for the next 50 years.

According to him, Nigeria’s economy may not recover 50 years after the regime of President Muhammadu Buhari due to foreign capital inflow that reached its lowest in the past four years.

In a string of tweets, the former Governor commented on foreign capital flow into Nigeria in recent times, citing record from the National Bureau of Statistics alluding that there was a pitiable downfall.

He observed that it plummeted by more than half in 2020 to $9.68bn, its lowest level in four years.

The National Bureau of Statistics, in its capital importation report for the fourth quarter and full-year 2020, said the total value of capital importation into the country fell by 59.65 per cent or $14.3bn last year from $23.99bn in 2019.

Fayose was of the view that the decline in foreign capital flow is an evidence of how the Buhari regime has ‘killed’ Nigeria.

“Just read that our country’s foreign capital inflow sunk to $9.68bn, its lowest in four years. That’s according to the National Bureau of Statistics.

“This is another evidence that Buhari has killed Nigeria. Economy, security and the unity of Nigeria are in trouble now.

“50 years after Buhari, this country may not recover from these economic and security woes,” he declared.

Dr Nnaemeka Obiari

In an age where,  serious Federal Reserve Banks in the world and top global banks are already preparing a world ruled by cryptocurrencies .

In a world where the market capitalization of cryptocurrencies being traded is over $1trillion

In a world where the promoters of PayPal are already thinking ahead of developing digital payment cards .

In a world that is looking to  genesis technologies and companies supporting it will be poised to create over $1.8trillion new wealth by 2027, the analogous and fossilized mannequins , who run Nigeria are hunting for crypto traders in Nigeria to close their accounts.

I am not surprised.

The lives of the average Nigerian had been taken back to the medieval age under this incompetent, unaware and atrociously ignorant fossils.

I can bet a finger that a majority of those who sit on the Board of the CBN and FEC do not even know much about AIs, not to talk of where the world is moving to .

How, we got saddled with this mass of incompetent, retrogressive and analogous bunch still baffles me .

All that they are after is cows, Ruga, sell oil , pay bandits and BH etc .   Nothing innovative and forward thinking.

I weep for Nigeria.

AMCON Shuns Court Orders; Moves To Sell Company’s Properties; CLO Cries Foul |The Source

By Akinwale Kasali

The Civil Liberties Organization, CLO, has berated the Asset Management Company of Nigeria, AMCON, for failing to obey court orders on an ongoing case involving the agency and Peace Global Satellite Communications Limited.

The Human Rights Organization made this disclosure in Lagos, Friday  during a press conference.

The organization stated its findings after a thorough investigation of the dispute between Peace HGlobal and AMCON.

Following  is the Press Statement issued and signed by its Chairman, Comrade Abiola Bakare and Secretary, Comrade Enitan Joseph .

The Antecedents of the Matter

Our Organisation ( CLO) acknowledged a complaint from Barrister Oreye U.L. MD/CEO Peace Global/ Peace Hotels Limited, Omole Lagos State.

He narrated his predicament on how AMCON went to obtain an ex-parte order to take possession of his properties in Omole Estate Lagos when the matter of the exact quantum of Debt owed by Peace Global Satellite Communication Ltd is on appeal at the nation’s Apex Court. The Supreme Court, which he believed very strongly that the ex-parte order was to undermine or truncate the course of Justice.

He further narrated how Peace Global borrowed N178 Million from Wema Bank Plc. In 2004 to roll out the wired phone network in Omole Estate Phase 1,2 and it’s environs N162 Million was paid back after obtaining the loan, remaining a balance on principal of N16million. 2 years later, thunder storm destroyed the network that was acquired through the loan and Wema Insurance Brokers failed to process the thunder storm claim.

Barrister Oreye stated that at a point Wema Bank Plc attempted selling the collateral used in securing the loan without due process hence Peace Global went to court in 2009.

Upon the creation of AMCON in 2010, Wema Bank misrepresented to AMCON that the balance on the principal was N240 Million instead of N 16 Million, which made AMCON bought the loan at N123 Million in 2012. Upon detection of the padding by Wema Bank of the loan amount. Peace Global wrote immediately to AMCON alleging false misrepresentation of figures.

Let’s actually straight line function of AMCON. You would recall that Asset Management Corporation Of Nigeria (AMCON) was established on the 19th July, 2010, when the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria signed the AMCON act into law.

AMCON was created to be a key stabilizing and re-vitalizing tool aimed at reviving the financial system by efficiently resolving the non-performing loans assets of the banks in the Nigerian economy. AMCON being a machinery of Government meant to protect the productive sectors of the economy and depositors / customers alike.

Barrister Oreye also informed us that AMCON which was created in 2010 and the debt was bought on 20th June, 2012 when the matter was over 3 years old in court and after AMCON had had been joined by Order of Court on 23rd of February, 2012.

Based on issues raised by Peace Global concerning padding of Peace Global’s debt which AMCON bought from Wema Bank, the letter which Peace Global wrote to AMCON was passed to WEMA to respond to and in Wema Bank’s reply Wema Bank denied telling Peace Global that debt on principal was N240 Million but claimed that the debt on principal was N60 Million. In a nutshell, the suit which has been in court was dismissed on the technical ground that claimants failed to file the CMC whereas the claimant filed the CMC form, but was yet to serve the parties.

On the 24th July, 2020, Barrister explained that without being served any court process, a bailiff of Federal High Court Sheriff was at his property presented Court Orders dated 9th March, 2020 issued by Federal High Court, Abuja which it expires if no motion on notice is served within 14 days of the ex-parte for possession was not appropriately obtained and executed hence, it was invalid and fraudulent.

Writ of Summons was filed on the 20th March, 2020 and served on them on 28/08/2020 in the supporting Affidavit, it was claimed fraudulently that the matter was not pending before any court whereas it was pending before the Supreme Court.

Despite all these fundamental flaws, Barrister Oreye together with his wife and family were dehumanized and humiliated, traumatized by AMCON locking up the gates of his business and writing “POSSESSION TAKEN TODAY 24-07-2020 BY COURT ORDER IN SUIT NO.FHC/ABJ/156/2020 IN RECEIVERSHIP BY AMCON” on the gate and the wall of his business. At his residence where he lives with his family, similar signage was written boldly respectively.

Having carefully gone through relevant documents on the matter brought to our office, the CLO found it expedient to intervene in the matter so as to protect Barrister Oreye and his family’s fundamental human rights. This has done great havoc, violence to their fundamental human rights to reputation, privacy, to own properties, and to do business in line with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Chapter IV (43). (Human rights).

Moreover, Barrister Oreye (MD Peace Global) had been working very hard in adding value to the youths in Nigeria by providing legitimate employment and services to people via his companies. Such a man should be supported and be encouraged to do more rather than exposing him and his wife , children to unscrupulous embarrassment and traumatized torture The siege of 8 uniform guards that are still monitoring the movement of the family at their residence and Peace Hotels Customers is traumatizing and in human.

We however, wrote to the MD AMCON, in our letter dated 3rd of December, 2020 in respect of the matter, where we requested AMCON to withdraw 8 nos uniform guards workers stationed at the residence and business premises of Barrister Oreye MD/CEO of Peace Global/Peace Hotels Limited Omole, Ikeja , Lagos. More so when our organization heard about the reappointment of Mr. Ahmed Kuru as Managing Director of the Asset Management Corporation, Mr. Eberechukwu Uneze and Mr. Aminu Ismali as Executive Director for the final term of five years which the nominations were forwarded to the senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for confirmation in accordance with section 10(1) of the AMCON act, 2010.

We equally wrote to the Senate President Hon. Ahmed Lawan, on our letter dated 15th December,2020 to use his prestigious office in prevailing on Mr Ahmed Kuru to respect court order before confirmation of the 2nd term in office. But all to no avail. We have not heard any response from anyone so far hence this press conference.

For these reasons, we are calling on the President Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retired), we are also calling on the senate President, Hon. Ahmed Lawan, the speaker Federal House Of Representatives, Hon. Speaker Gbajabiamila and the Inspector General of Police to immediately prevail on Mr. Ahmed Kuru (MD AMCON) to obey court order and withdraw with immediate effect the 8 AMCON security guards that had been laying siege at the business centre of Barrister Oreye and his residence despite the vacation order in obedience to the judgement order on vacating / discharging dated 24th day of November,2020 before his lordship.

The Hon. Justice A.I. Chikere (Presiding Judge) in the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Holden at Abuja, on Tuesday 24th day of November, 2020 suit no FHC/ABJ/CS/156/2020 pending hearing and determination of substantive suit.

The CLO said it would continue to campaign for good governance, rule of law and true democracy.

We cannot keep watching, but must do something, for in the words of Edmund Burke,”all it takes for evil men to take over the society and poison it, is for good men to stand aloof and do nothing.”

Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma has said the Igbo need to use diplomacy to get things done, not war. What diplomacy cannot achieve, the Governor advised, war cannot achieve.

Uzodimma spoke on Friday, when he led APC leaders  from the South-east to assess the ongoing construction of the second Niger Bridge in Anambra State.  The Bridge, being constructed at a whopping sum of N366 billion,  when completed will be 47 kilometres. Presently, 20,000 workers have been engaged to work on the new bridge.

At the site, the leaders expressed their gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for the massive infrastructural development embarked upon by the Federal Government in the region,  especially the second Niger Bridge which is under construction.

They took turn to salute the courage of President Buhari over the ambitious projects.

Governor Uzodimma said that the APC leadership in the South East resolved to come as a team to inspect and take ownership of the flagship project estimated at Three Hundred and Sixty Six Billion Naira (N360billion) that will link the South East, the South South and the entire Northern Nigeria when completed.

Governor Uzodimma said: “What looked like a dream is now a reality as the second Niger Bridge has a lot of economic and human benefits to both South East and Nigeria in general.”

The Governor who painted a picture of countries whose history cannot be written without mention of a particular leader said “at the completion and commissioning of the second Niger Bridge the name of Buhari will be immortalized.”

He advised that the South East must come together and understand that the world has no place again for criminality, blackmail and pull-him-down syndrome, noting that “whatever diplomacy cannot get for Ndigbo now, war will not get it for them”.

He, therefore, commended the leadership of the ruling party, the APC at the State and National level for their commitment and involvement in ensuring the success of the gigantic project.

In his remarks, the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu,  thanked the President and described the second Niger bridge “as a promise made and promise kept”.

Anambra APC leader, Senator Andy Uba thanked the President for the project and expressed happiness that “the second Niger Bridge is a boost to APC in the South East and Anambra State in particular.”

The Minister for State Education, Dr. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, described the project as “a show of great love by  President Muhammadu Buhari to the South East” and that “the importance of the project is shown on its funding as the project is financed from the presidential initiative funds which is outside the regular budget of the Federal Government of Nigeria”.

Contributing, the former Governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, said they have come to see and have believed the reality of the project and “it is the responsibility of the South East leaders to tell our people that the second Niger Bridge is a reality.”

Receiving the Governor and the leaders earlier,  the Federal Controller of Works Anambra State,  Engr. Ajani explained that the bridge is about 47 kilometers and that the first phase which has reached 55 per cent completion is about 11 kilometers “and generally the project has engaged close to 20,000 workers.”

2023: Wike Debunks Statement, Says He Will Never Malign Tinubu |The Source

By Akinwale Kasali

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has debunked the statement he was credited to have made about  the 2023 Presidential ambition of the All Progressives Congress, APC,  National Leader,, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, .

Wike’s alleged statement has made the rounds in the  mainstream media and online medium.

But a statement signed by his Special Assistant, Media, Kelvin Ebiri, described the report contained in the reports, especially as carried in the Guardian, “as preposterous, fabricated, malicious and intended to inflame relationship between Governor Wike and Asiwaju Tinubu, whom the Rivers Chief Executive holds in high esteem”.

The statement said: “The attention of the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has been drawn to false assertions attributed to him in an article written in The Guardian by Emmanuel Ande on February 5, 2021, titled: ‘Tinubu cannot see presidency gate in 2023, says Wike’

“We wish to affirm that it is true that Governor Wike was in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State on February 4, to inspect some projects being executed by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri. And while inspecting the Greater Interchange and Underpass in Yola , some journalists requested for an interview which he graciously obliged them.

“The questions asked ranged from the purpose of his visit; the prospects of the Peoples Democratic Party winning the 2023 general election and Nigeria’s rating in the global corruption index recently published by Transparency International.

“At no time during the interview session that lasted about five minutes did Governor Wike mention the names of Tinubu and the APC’s former national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, or even alluded to them.

“We wish to state without equivocation, that irrespective of political affiliation, Governor Wike has enormous respect for Asiwaju Tinubu and will never say or do anything to malign the hard earned reputation of the elder statesman. The report by Mr Ande is mischievous and aimed to discredit The Guardian.

“It is our belief that the reporter is probably acting as hireling of some treacherous political actors, who often capitalise on the susceptibility of some journalists to manipulate them to publish misleading or factually incorrect information for political purposes. We dare the reporter to provide any evidence to prove the veracity of his fabricated report.”

How A Chilling Deceit And Heartbreak Stunned The Court, And Ended In Tears |The Source

Kenneth Ikonne

By Kenneth Ikonne

The scene in the Court room of the Family Division of the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja, evoked deep pathos. The judge, a Lady, was sobbing. And so were the parties, the lawyers, and everyone else in that rattled courtroom, including me! It was at the hearing of a case instituted by me on behalf of my client, Dapo, against his former consort. Their relationship more, than thirteen years earlier, had produced a baby girl, but it did not eventually lead to marriage, even though Dapo had assumed full responsibility for the child’s upkeep and maintenance, and was at the time of the hearing bearing full responsibility for her schooling and upkeep at the very expensive Turkish – American secondary school at Victoria Island, Lagos! Dapo was well – heeled, a chartered accountant, and loved the child – his only child – dearly.

The love affair between Dapo and Jumoke, the child’s mother had been steamy and passionate. Jumoke’s mother fully supported the affair. Not only was Dapo a comely lad, he had also been a very promising young man, from a very good family in Osun State. Graduating at the top of his class, with a first class in Chemical Engineering from the University of Ife, he had ventured into Accounting, and quickly became a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. Dapo was thus by every standard, a worthy suitor, and a welcome guest at his lover’s mother’s home in Abeokuta. It was in the course of one of those visits that the inevitable happened, and the lady took in, and eventually gave birth to the baby girl!

Dapo did not eventually marry his lover, but he continued maintaining both she and the baby, even after the lady found love elsewhere and married! And fortune was immensely kind to him. He rose quickly professionally, becoming the Managing Director of a major revenue collection firm in the city of Lagos – and super wealthy to the bargain. He himself had married, but the marriage had not produced any issue, even after several years. And he had begun to doubt whether he was ever going to be able to sire another child. But the thoughts of his very beautiful Angel from his earlier relationship always comforted and reassured him. The girl was almost his carbon copy, and he adored her.

An Accidental Meeting

When the little girl was thirteen years, Dapo honoured an invitation to attend a wedding in Lagos. His attendance at that wedding was to change his world forever. Dapo was invited to the high table to chair the occasion. From where he sat at the high table, he could see a daintily dressed couple swaying gaily to the beats and praises of the Fuji singer, as they waltzed their way to their seats at the high table. The master of ceremony had earlier, in calling them to the high table, introduced them as Mr and Mrs Abimbola. They, along with Dapo, were among the distinguished guests at the wedding reception. They took their seats right beside Dapo, with the husband sitting right next to Dapo.

Dapo instantly recognised his ex girlfriend, his baby’s mother, and waved at her in greeting. But when he took just one look at her husband, his heart sank. Sitting right there next to him was Ade. He had put on some weight, but there was no mistaking who he was. “Ade”, blotted out Dapo. “Na you be this? Wonders shall never cease!” Dapo, chairman of a wedding, lost control of his emotions, and began to sob, his dropped head in his palms. He regained composure, and took charge of the wedding proceedings!

A Family’s Deceit

Fifteen years previously, while he dated Jumoke, now Mrs Abimbola, Ade had also been a regular visitor at Jumoke’s house at Abeokuta. Ade was good looking and courteous toward Dapo whenever Dapo visited, and sometimes even ran errands for Jumoke’s mother. Both Jumoke and her mother introduced him to Dapo as Jumoke’s cousin, and in Dapo’s presence, Ade played the part perfectly. But there was one particular day that Dapo came to her house unannounced, opened Jumoke’s room without knocking, and caught Jumoke and Ade untangling from what he thought was an embrace and a kiss. Dapo reported  what he thought he saw to Mama, but Mama and daughter quickly doused his suspicions, with Mama explaining that the duo had always been so close, right from infancy.

It was shortly after this time that Jumoke took in for Dapo, and birthed his adorable little baby girl!

But now, Ade and Jumoke were sitting right next to Dapo, introduced by the MC to the whole world as husband and wife! They were even dressed in the same uniformed attire, leaving no one in any doubt that this was a couple. When Dapo left the wedding party that evening, he wept like a baby, from the moment he entered his car, and up to the point he arrived home.

And Dapo Wept

He was still weeping when he picked up his phone and called me, asking me to hop into the next available flight in Abuja to see him in his house in Lagos. When I inquired to know the reason for the urgency, he only retorted gravely: “Ken, my world has come crashing down. I am finished. And my life might even be in danger!”

The atmosphere in the courtroom that early morning was calm, almost sombre.

I had arrived with Dapo in the same car. Just after alighting from the car, and as Dapo and I began to walk the short distance from the car park to the court room, a pretty little young girl, fair complexioned and slight in build, much like Dapo, raced from the shade of the big mahogany tree not too far from the courtroom and flung herself at Dapo. Father and daughter locked themselves in passionate embrace that lasted almost five minutes.

 A Child’s Love For Daddy

“Daddy I love you”, said the young girl. “I love you too”, Dapo responded, almost choking on his emotions. From under the shade of the big tree, a fortyish looking woman, fair complexioned too and pretty, fixed her gaze at Dapo and daughter. She did not utter even a word to Dapo. Her face was expressionless. She only looked away when Dapo looked in her direction and began to walk into the courtroom with his daughter.

“Ken”, that’s Jumoke”, Dapo said almost in a whisper. I said I already knew. She was in court at the last court sitting which Dapo himself did not attend.

DNA Only Way Out

At that sitting the court had ordered that the only way to resolve one of the most contested issues in the suit was for a DNA test to be conducted on the young girl. The parties were to take the girl to St. Nicholas Hospital Lagos, accompanied by the Registrar of the Court, for samples to be obtained from the child and Dapo. The court further ruled that the result of the test be brought directly to the court in a sealed envelope by a qualified scientist from the Hospital’s laboratory who will open the result for the first time in court, tender same, interpret it, and be cross – examined by both parties! Dapo was to bear the logistical implications of the test in full.

Dapo Goes To Court

A few months earlier, and on Dapo’s instructions, I had brought an action in deceit and paternity fraud against Jumoke and Ade, claiming humongous damages, alongside an awkward declaration that even if a result of a paternity test showed that the child was not Dapo’s, he was entitled to custody which Jumoke had disallowed him since the girl’s birth, since he loved the child dearly, had maintained her all along, and knew no other child all his life. The declaration sought was a clumsy one – and I felt uneasy drafting it. Infact, upon my arrival from Abuja after Dapo had summoned me, I had advised him, upon him telling his story amid sobs, to forget about going to court, and let sleeping dogs lie.

My Life In Danger

But Dapo was adamant. For some strange reason, he felt his life was in imminent danger and that if he suddenly died, Jumoke and her husband would exploit his relationship with his daughter, descend upon his estate, and inherit all that he had laboured for in life. He calmly explained that this was possible since under Yoruba customary law, a girl – child was entitled to a share in her father’s estate. Jumoke’s daughter – his daughter – therefore stood to inherit everything, which will then pass on to Jumoke and her husband. And Dapo believed his death was imminent – unless the truth was quickly unmasked.

A Stab At The Back

He was in no mood to entertain further arguments. I, therefore, proceeded to work, settled the originating processes and filed them at the Court Registry. The suit was then assigned to the Family Division of the High Court of Lagos State. It was on the very first day of the hearing that the Honourable Court ordered the DNA testing and gave a fairly long adjournment to enable the test to be conducted, and a result produced. It was therefore on the day of the production of the test result that Dapo and daughter met, and walked together into the court room, followed at a distance by Jumoke and two other women about her age, along with two men, none of whom was Ade, her husband.

The first case to be called on the day was the divorce petition brought by Festus Keyamo against his wife. It was quickly adjourned, and Dapo’s case was called. Counsel to both parties announced their respective appearances, with me then informing the court that the business of the day was for the scientist from the Hospital to produce and tender the result of the paternity test. The scientist was the court’s witness, and the parties had therefore refrained from seeking to know or mingle with him.

Fortuitously, the Court Registrar informed the Judge that the witness was in court, and signalled to him from where he sat among the throng in the packed courtroom to proceed to the witness box where the oath to speak the truth was immediately administered on him.

Let The Child Leave The Court Room For My Chambers

It was the Judge herself who led the witness in evidence. But just as she was about to begin, she looked toward where Dapo sat with his daughter immediately behind the lawyers row, and noticed the young girl. Her maternal instincts immediately kicked in. “Stand up, sweetheart”, the Judge told the girl in a sweet tone. “Why are you here again today?”, her Lordship inquired. “I think I told you last time not to come to court again until this case is over. Courtrooms are not good for small children. You will go to my office and stay. They will even give you ice cream and minerals there.” The young girl tried to explain that her school was on its long vacation, and that her ambition in life was to be a lawyer, and that she was therefore in court to see how the lawyers did their thing.

But the Judge was adamant, and at Dapo’s gentle  prodding, the girl left the courtroom meekly and walked away, cutting a pitiable figure, and drawing sighs.

Her Lordship then turned her attention to the witness. She had suddenly transformed from the very gentle mother of a few minutes earlier to a stern faced arbiter, very much in control of the proceedings. She began by asking the witness his name, address, place of work, qualification and experience. As the witness spoke, she meticulously recorded all his answers.

“Your hospital was ordered by this court to obtain samples from the Plaintiff and his daughter and perform a DNA test to determine the paternity of the daughter”, her Lordship probed in sombre tones. “Yes, my Lord”, came the Reply. The witness confirmed that the samples were collected as ordered and sent to their correspondent laboratory in South Africa were the test was conducted, and the sealed result sent to his hospital, and that the result was still sealed. He fetched forth the envelope from a folder, and showed the Judge.

A Witnesses Chilling End Of  Story

The judge then requested the witness to un – seal the envelope and bring out the result. As he did so, the tense courtroom became deathly quiet. I took a quick look in Dapo’s direction and saw him looking scared and lost. But Jumoke, who sat further back, was expressionless. Her face only came alive when she caught me looking at her. She met my gaze with a stern grimace, batting her eyelids rapidly at me in apparent rebuke at my effrontery. I quickly returned my attention to the proceedings.

The witness then tendered the DNA result, and counsel on all sides were shown the result by the Court official, and the Judge asked whether any of us had any objection to its tendering. In the absence of any objection, it was received in evidence and marked. I looked back at Dapo again and saw him muttering a silent prayer, eyes closed, lips quivering in quiet supplication to the great maker of all things to avert his worst fears.

The judge ordered that the witness be given the result once more. “From the result in your hands, whose paternity test result was this?” The witness answered that it was the little girl’s. “Now, witness, from the result in your hand, is the Plaintiff the father of the little girl?”

She Is Not Your Daughter

There was once more pindrop silence as the witness began to answer, squelching the little murmurs and whispers that had arisen moments earlier. Then came the bombshell: “My Lord”, the witness began slowly. He then paused for dramatic effect, a small smile playing by the corner of his thick lips, his dark face betraying the countenance of a man who had seen so much of the follies of this world. The judge rebuked him, and reminded him that he was there for serious business. He quickly bowed and apologised, and resumed his testimony. Looking at the result in his right hand, he read out some technical jargon, and began to interpret it, looking at the judge: “My Lord, what this means is that the Plaintiff here”, he paused and pointed at Dapo, “could not have by any chance in the world fathered this girl.” Instant howls could be heard across the courtroom.

A Child’s Heartbreak

The witness had hardly finished his last sentence when the little girl burst into the courtroom, shrieking and wailing. She rushed straight to where a now sobbing Dapo sat, held him tight in an embrace, and started wiping her father’s tears with her palm. As she did so, Dapo momentarily regained composure, stared keenly at his daughter’s face, kissed her on her forehead, shrieked in agony, and resumed crying, father and daughter still locked in harrowing embrace! “Daddy, it’s a lie”, she screamed, still crying.  “Daddy, you are my father. Daddy I love you.” “I love you too, and always will”, Dapo moaned, the pain in his heart very much conveyed by eyes now reddened by anguish. As father and daughter grieved, tears running profusely on their faces, their noses also ran.

The police orderly had rushed to restrain the young girl when she first burst into the courtroom, but the Judge had ordered him to leave the girl alone. The poor girl had apparently not heeded the Judge’s instruction to go to her chambers for ice cream, but had lurked around the precincts of the court to espy the proceedings!

And The Judge Wept

Now, as father and daughter sobbed and shrieked in pitiful embrace, the stern judge melted and brought out a handkerchief and sobbed along. The scene was so moving that everyone in the courtroom, with the exception of Jumoke, joined in sobbing, with some, especially the women, wailing! I reached for my white handkerchief, removed my glasses and began to wipe my own tears!.

“The court shall rise”, the Judge managed to announce, and immediately left the courtroom for her chambers, never to return for the day. It was the clerk of court who later returned to announce to a tumultuous courtroom that the matter had been adjourned for the day, and that counsel in the matter should approach the clerical desk for dates!

President Obasanjo’s Sacrilege In Plateau State |The Source

0

By Femi Adesina

Let’s go back in time to May 2004, when the lands of Yelwa-Shendam, in Plateau State, had turned crimson. Primitive fury and hatred were unleashed, leading to internecine bloodbath. Hundreds and hundreds of people were killed along religious lines. It eventually led to Governor Joshua Dariye being removed, as a state of emergency was declared, and a retired Army General appointed sole administrator.

While the place was turned into killing fields, the then President Olusegun MATTHEW Obasanjo (emphasis on that middle name) visited, and met with the different stakeholders.

During the dialogue session, the then Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Plateau State asked a question the President found offensive. And the Owu man, a retired Army General, flew off the handle. He let out this fusillade:

“What role have you played to bring about peace as CAN Chairman in Plateau State? CAN, my foot! What kind of CAN Chairman are you? Did your own Christianity teach you about revenge? You are an idiot. A total idiot. And I have no apologies for that.”

Pin-drop silence. Strange things do happen in Nigeria. But it had never been seen like that. For a father of the country to publicly excoriate a religious leader? For a Matthew to call a preacher an idiot, “a total idiot?” It was sacrilege walking on two legs.

And again, for a President, who laid claim to being a born again Christian, to denigrate the association of his own faith? “CAN, my foot!” It was the height of it.

Of course, Obasanjo was President! Big shot. But many things were wrong with his conduct and the cavalier treatment he gave to a priest, a man of God.The Holy Bible makes certain things clear about our spiritual leaders:

‘Obey your leaders and submit to them. For they watch over your souls as those who will give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with grief, for this will be unprofitable for you.” Hebrews 13:17.

Again, we are charged: “But we request of you, brethren, that you appreciate those who diligently labor among you, and have charge over you in the Lord, and give you instruction.” 1 Thessalonians 5: 12. In fact, the next verse directly tells us to “esteem them very highly in love because of their work.”

So, for a Matthew to call a priest an idiot, “a total idiot?” Not acceptable by any stretch of the imagination. It was a bad example for all believers.

Well, the saga ran for a while. The man in question, Rev Yakubu Pam, said security agencies summoned and asked him to apologize to the President for the public spat. Insult on injury! The two men continued with their public lives. Obasanjo finished in office, and went on to take a degree in Theology. I’m sure he now knows better about those the Holy Bible says “speak evil of dignities” (2 Peter 2:10), and the consequences. I believe he has privately repented.

Rev Pam finished his term as CAN Chairman in Plateau State. He went on to become Chairman of CAN in all North Central states from 2008 till 2015, and then, Chairman CAN in the 19 Northern states and Abuja, till July 4, last year, when he was named Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), the regulatory body for Christian pilgrimage in the country.

A tale of the priest and two Presidents. Publicly flagellated by one, a Matthew, and now, honored by the other, a Muhammadu. What Rev Pam didn’t get from a Christian, he got from a Fulani man from Daura, a Muslim. Is there any lesson we can learn from this? Think about it.

A couple of weeks back, precisely on January 14, 2021, Rev Pam was at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, leading an NCPC team on a courtesy visit to the President. An idiot, “a total idiot” was at the seat of power, being treated with the dignity he deserved, by a man of a different faith. Holy Moses!

Rev Pam delivered a speech at the event, under the title, In Peace We Blossom. He recounted how he had been campaigning on the need for peace round the country in places like Southern Kaduna, Plateau, Benue, Taraba and Nasarawa states, among others. He has met with church leaders also in Southeast and South-south zones, as well as youth groups. He submitted: “I humbly appreciate Mr President’s vision on peace building and deeply grateful for the confidence reposed on me in this respect.”

Rev Pam is obviously a man of peace. That was why “when he was reviled, he reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously.” (1 Peter 2:23). How many of us would be called an idiot, “a total idiot” publicly, and would not talk back? How many of our modern day preachers, who arrogate all sorts of powers and authorities to themselves, would not have cursed Obasanjo publicly, asking him to apologize or be killed by God within seven days? (You know, some of these modern preachers speak as if God was their personal property, who they can command and order around).

I tell you, this Rev Pam, from Gyel, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State is a reconciliator, a peace advocate, and that is why God has lifted him up today. And not through a Matthew, but a Muhammadu, one against whom all lies under the sun have been told: he’s a religious bigot. A herdsman. A nepotist. Jihadist. Everything. May God forgive those who condemn the person they don’t know, and have refused to know.

President Buhari personally congratulated Rev Pam on his appointment as NCPC boss. He encouraged him to continue with his peace building efforts across the country, stressing that no enduring development could be possible without peace.

It was a day one was very glad to witness. A pauper can become a king. An idiot, “a total idiot,” can become a man of honour. It is God that does it. Don’t you think?

2023: Wike Predicts Doom For Tinubu |The Source

By Akinwale Kasali

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers has predicted doom for the  All Progressives Congress, APC,  National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, regarding his ambition to be President in 2023.

Wike, known for his bluntness advised Tinubu to channel his energy to other profitable ventures, stating that presidency would be out of reach of his Party and himself come 2023 General  Elections.

The Governor made this statement in Yola, Adamawa State, while on an inspection tour of projects being executed by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.

Wike applauded the performance of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors and the  failures the APC Government  under President Muhammadu Buhari is recording on daily basis, insisting that it is clear that Nigerians would not repeat the mistake of voting a party without direction.

“With what I saw today in Adamawa, I wonder how a normal person will not vote PDP again in this state. What is happening in Adamawa State is a replica of what is happening in other PDP states.

“With the massive development going on in PDP states and the massive corruption going on under APC regime, it is no longer news that PDP is on its way back to chase out invaders and lawfully take over its house and pilot Nigerians to the promised land,” he stated.

The Rivers governor, who applauded Transparency International’s (TI) rating of Nigeria on corruption index, said the present APC leadership accept and protect corrupt persons.

“Today, Wike can be the most corrupt Governor, but immediately I decamp from PDP to APC, I am no longer corrupt. This means APC is a den for highly corrupt people. These are not my words, I am only quoting APC former n5ational Chairman , Adams Oshiomhole. Nigerians are intellectuals, they cannot enter,  again, the boat that capsized with them,” he said.

Wike noted that Nigeria has never been divided like it is now under APC regime and that insecurity has become a huge industry under the administration of President Buhari.

The governor, who accused the media of constitutional betrayal, alleged that under the peaceful government of former President Goodluck Jonathan, the media made the world to believe that Nigeria would collapse in the next 24 hours.

According to him, the unholy silence of the media at a time that the country is under threat of insecurity, economic collapse midwifed by unfocused leadership, poses more danger to the country.

He advised the APC leadership to move to Adamawa State and study how to develop people through projects, saying President Buhari could attest to development strides of Governor Fintiri.

Wike urged Fintiri not to be distracted by people he called envious political vultures, but to maintain his tempo of infrastructural development in Adamawa.

“Even I, as g5overnor of an oil-producing state, I cannot construct underground flyover. I wonder where Fintiri is getting his money, but this is what we call, in PDP, determination to achieve. It is a strange word to the APC Government . If you ask any of them to define development, that is the end of the discussion,” Wike said.

Fintiri, who commended Wike for the visit, assured the Rivers State Governor  that he would continue to offer PDP and Adamawa electorate services that would improve their livelihood.
