“My wife is already out of the country preparing our escape. She is preparing our  Plan B I encourage you to have your own Plan B of escape”

By Akinwale Kasali

Popular Clergyman and Founder of House on The Rock, Pastor Paul Adefarasin, has described the state of insecurity of the nation as unpalatable.

Based on that, the Pastor has advised his Church members to get a plan B on how to escape the country in case the worst happens.

Speaking on Sunday during a Church Service, the Head Pastor spoke extensively on the state of the Nation, calling on all the Leaders not to be partisan at this time.

He said: “No country in  world history has survived two civil wars. You could be in flight and running for your dear life any day from now if this thing does not come to an end. My personal encouragement to Leaders and Government on all sides is that it is not time to be partisan, blend the aisles. It is time to sit down and dialogue.”

He spoke further to his Church members to have a plan B as his wife is currently out of Nigeria helping to create their own plan B.

”I bring you greeetings from Pastor Ifeanyi who is busy taking care of the frontier of our world and preparing our escape route. If you don’t have a plan B. …I know you have faith, but I have faith too, but I have a plan B.

“With technology I can speak to you from anywhere in the world.

“Get yourself a plan B. Whether that’s an Okada to Cameroon or flying boat or speed boat as we call them to Seme Border or a hole in the ground, get your plan B because these people are crazy. They ate nutters. The whole bunch of them. And watch the signs because it can happen like this. God

Controversy Trails Death Of Lagos Socialite, Kayode Badru, Burnt To Death During Deliverance |The Source

Kayode Badru

“The Chuch Leadership is denying the Prophet because of the social status of the victim. Otherwise, it would have been covered up.This is not the first time it is happening. They cover such things up.” – Church member.

By Akinwale Kasali

The death of Kayode Badru, a United Arab Emirates, UAE, based Lagos Socialite came as a rude shock.  The Social Media is awash with his demise, and its mysterious, horrifying cause.

Badru met his untimely death at Prophet Alebiosu- led Celestial Church in Lagos where he had gone for a Deliverance Service, popularly known as ‘Isegun’, in local parlance on the 5th of May, 2021.

During the Deliverance Service, the late Badru was asked to kneel down at the middle of the Church with Candles lit around him. He was also holding a Candle as well. While kneeling down, the Prophet sprayed a perfume on his body.

Within a twinkle of an eye, his body was on fire due to the closeness of the candle to him. The perfume was highly inflammable. He got burnt all over.

He was rushed to a hospital in Gbagada where he eventually passed on

Badru had flown into Nigeria from his Dubai base to attend the Graduation ceremony of 40 students he gave scholarships to study at the Academy For Innovative Art and Technology, ACIATECH, before he met his death.

For years an adherent of the the late Celestial Church and he was not new to such practices.

But following the manner of his death, the leadership of Celestial Church of Christ Worldwide led by Bilewu Oshoffa, the Son of the founder of the Church, SBJ Oshoffa, has distanced the Church from such practice.

In a statement by the Church Pastoral Directorate, it said that such practice is new, and not part of the tenets of Celestial Church.

It added that the usage of strong perfumes that are highly inflammable are not allowed and the perfumes used by the Celestial Church which  always corrupted such perfumes with water to lighten its inflammation degree.

The statement read in part: “Due to the incessant abuse of Spiritual Perfumes within the Church, His Eminence has found it imperative to state, for record purposes and correction, that henceforth, Spiritual Perfumes intended to be sprayed, sprinkled, or poured with a lighted candle should be diluted with water.

“The spraying or pouring of undiluted Spiritual Perfumes in its volatile state with a lighted candle is an imported culture not originally part of the tenets of the Celestial Church of Christ. The laid down usage of Spiritual Perfume within the spheres of a lighted candle by the Pastor Founder, Saint SBJ Oshoffa is by mixing it with water. It is high time we retraced our steps for a greater Celestial Church of Christ.

“We are all advised to adhere to this directive, any Parish or member that goes against this directive will be solely responsible for the resultant effect.

“The Pastor has also directed the Pastor-in-Council to come up with a policy document to curb alien practices that have been introduced into the Tenets and Doctrines of the Church to safeguard the Church’s divine culture as instructed by the Spirit of God through the Pastor Founder.”

Prophet Alebiosu was said to have disappeared into thin air following the incident along with others who carried out the Deliverance procedure.

However, following frantic efforts by the Police, Prophet Alebiosu has been arrested alongside two others.

Investigation revealed that they are being interrogated at the State Criminal Investigative Department, SCID, Adekunle, Panti Police Station, Yaba, Lagos.

Mixed reactions have, however, trailed this incident as many criticised the Church for such practice, while some said it was just an unfortunate incident that went awry.

Oluwadamilare Iyaomolere, the Ogudu Celestial Church Parish Choirmaster and a Social Commentator, the usage of perfumes for Deliverance is part of the doctrine of the Church, stressing that it was just unfortunate that it happened that way.

“Spraying of perfumes is a normal thing in Celestial, I can’t explain what went wrong. Though the perfumes used for such practices are always mild and not highly inflammable that will result in high degree of burns. The Prophet made a mistake because it is a common sense thing that if you can spray perfume on some holding candle it will catch fire.

“Let”s be clear about this issue. This is not the first time such is happening in Celestial Church. We have had such experience that some got burnt through this same grievous mistakes. It is just because the late Badru is a Social, popular person, it could have been buried and not known to people.

“It is just a face saving approach by the leadership of Celestial Church by saying that Water should be mixed with perfumes, it wasn’t done that way”, Iyaomolere explained.

Popular Hip Hop Artiste, David Adeleke, (Davido) has condemned it in its entirety, calling for the prosecution of the Prophet alongside those who carried what he termed a “dastardly act”.

Davido: “The Pastor should be prosecuted with Second Degree Murder with the Church closed till further notice”.

Buhari Responsible For Workers Pay Cut – PDP |The Source

By Ayodele Oni

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says that Nigerians should hold the ruling All Progressive Congress, (APC) responsible for the country’s economic doldrums, which has led to a move to slash Workers’ salary.

The PDP submitted that the attempt by the APC to deny the public declaration by the Federal Government to slash Workers’ salaries, has confirmed that it is, indeed, the mastermind of the obnoxious policy.

In a statement, in Abuja, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, maintained that the frenzy by the APC in hastily assuming the position of the mouthpiece of the Buhari Presidency, exposes a panic measure, symptomatic of being caught in its usual act.

“Of course, hardened oppressors and political predators always resort to disgraceful and shameless lies when caught in the act.

“That explains why the APC could expect Nigerians to forget, in a space of five days, the public declaration by the Minister of Finance and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, that President Muhammadu Buhari had directed a review of Workers’ salaries, as well as the merging of Agencies of Government.

“Perhaps the lying APC should be reminded how the Minister, at a public function organized by the Independent Corrupt Practices And Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in Abuja, last Wednesday, unambiguously declared that there were moves to cut workers’ salaries.

“In the Minister’s words, “Mr. President has directed that the salaries committee that I Chair, work together with the Head of Service and other members of the Committee to review the Government payrolls in terms of stepping down on costs”.

“It is instructive to remind that the Minister’s declaration was immediately condemned by Labour Unions and other well-meaning Nigerians, who described the move as unacceptable under the current excruciating economic situation.

“It is, therefore, absurd and exposes a desperate diversionary measure for the culpable APC to attempt to distort the facts by claiming that  it was the PDP that alleged the plans to slash Workers’ salaries, when it was publicly announced by the Federal Government.

“This attempt by the APC to divert attention from the moves by its Government to slash salaries of Workers only goes to validate our intelligence that the APC is behind the plots.

“It is clear that the APC is now overweighed by the burden of being exposed, but resorting to lies and diversionary measures cannot sway Nigerians.

“Now that the APC is speaking for Mr. President in his manifest failure and anti-people policies, we charge Nigerians to hold the APC, as a party, responsible for any salary cut.

“Nigerians should also hold APC accountable for the economic strangulation, as well as the escalated kidnapping, bloodletting and worsened insecurity in our country under the Buhari administration.

“Our party restates our stance that the lying APC and its Government must rescind the move to slash the salaries of Workers.

“Instead, the APC should get its leaders to return the over N15 trillion they stole from the National coffers as well as get more competent hands to manage our ailing economy.”

LG Tenure: Oyo Govt Bows To Supreme Court:To Pay Off Elected Officials |The Source

Governor Seyi Makinde

By Ayodele Oni

The Oyo State Government, on Monday, said  it was on the same page with the Justices of the Supreme Court in its May 7, 2021 ruling, which ordered the payment of salaries and allowances of the dissolved Chairmen and Councillors of Local Government Councils in the State.

The Government in a statement in Ibadan said that as a believer in the rule of law, and as a Government with the utmost respect for the Supreme Court, it will comply with the ruling of the Apex court.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Taiwo Adisa, declared that Government was, as far back as February, 2020, committed to pay-off the dissolved Chairmen and Councillors  when the negotiation team, pursuant to the out-of-court order of the Oyo State High Court, offered the Council Chairmen and Councillors the same condition which the Supreme Court just affirmed.

According to the statement, the Government of Oyo State will comply with the order of the Apex court once the details of the ruling are made available.

“We are on the same page with the Supreme Court of the land on the ruling which ordered the payment of salaries and allowances of the dissolved Local Governments.

“The Apex Court in its decision rejected the dissolution, affirmed that the tenure of the council Chairmen had lapsed, while also asking that the State pay salaries and allowances due to them till the end of their tenure.

“The Court also awarded a cost of N20 million and asked the Attorney General of Oyo State to file an affidavit of compliance latest August 7, 2021.

“A similar decision was given against the Government of Katsina State, with the same cost of N20 million awarded against it.

“As far as we are concerned, the Supreme Court, by that judgment, made a policy decision, being a policy Court. It was apparently sending a message to States in its attempt to protect elected Local Government Councils.

The affected Council Chairmen had scuttled efforts by the State Government to pay them off early this year by insisting that they must return to the Councils with all their aides.”

A few days ago, based on the Supreme Court judgement, a former Governor of the State, Alao Akala, had warned the State Governor, Seyi Makinde, not to hold any LGA elections.

Akala was of the PDP, the Governor’s party, before he defected to the APC.

Igbo Group Support Bola Tinubu

By Akinwale Kasali

The much touted Presidential ambition of former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has received a boost.

An Igbo group in Lagos State has declared its support for the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), ahead of 2023 should the latter agree to contest.

The Obasa Movement, Ndigbo branch, in Lagos made the promise when its members paid a courtesy visit to the Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT) Foundation at the weekend.

Igbo Group Support Bola Tinubu

At the meeting which had royal fathers and leaders from the Igbo community in the state, High Chief Enyiwauzo Solomon Sunday Chukwu (Solochus), who coordinates the Obasa Movement (Ndi-Igbo Lagos), said it was a general decision to also support Speaker Mudashiru Obasa of the Lagos State House of Assembly in his political journey.

To this effect, Chief Chukwu, who led Igbo leaders and members of the group across Lagos West to the foundation, said his people are prepared to sacrifice their time and other resources to achieve victory for Tinubu and Obasa.

“Whatever I am today was the result of Tinubu’s policies,” he said.

Commending the group, the Director-General of the foundation, Hon. Ipoola Omisore, noted that the Igbos remain important to the growth and development of Lagos and Nigeria.

Omisore added: “We are here because of two people, Asiwaju Tinubu and Rt. Hon. Obasa. When you want to deal with people, first try to know how faithful the people are.

“Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the most faithful Nigerian to other tribes. He believes in talents and does not care where a person comes from. He has fixed Igbo men and women in his cabinet and in other offices.

“Even out of cabinet office, he still made sure those who succeeded him followed the steps. As I talk to you now, we are planning primaries and Igbos will take part.

“So your coming here is to solidify the friendship and trust we have in each other. In Lagos, nobody can wish away the Igbo people.”

Omisore added: “When an Igbo man says he stands by you, he stands by you. Igbos are nobody’s enemies. They only operate by principles.

“I also want to tell you that Obasa is a very reliable person. So I want to let you know that Obasa is the best for Lagos West. He is going to the Senate with 20 years experience from the Lagos State House of Assembly and he is going there with authority, not to learn the ropes.”

Assault On Pregnant Worker: Ondo NLC Leads Protest, Insists Gov Aide Should Be Punished |The Source

Protest in Ondo State

By Ayodele Oni

As a follow-up to their letter on alleged assault of a pregnant public servant by an aide of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, workers in the State, on Monday, embarked on a peaceful protest to the State secretariat.

The workers, led by Executive members of the State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress, (NLC),were, however, prevented from converging on the Governor’s office by the intervention of the Deputy Governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

The Deputy Governor, who stood in for Governor Akeredolu, appealed to the workers to shelve their planned march against an alleged assault of a pregnant woman.

He assured them that the allegation against the Senior Special Assistant on Strategy and Special Duties, Dr. Doyin Odebowale, that he assaulted a pregnant worker with the State Waste Management Agency, was being investigated.

The protesting workers, had to retreat as the Deputy Governor, joined them as they approached the  Governor’s office.

Mr Aiyedatiwa pleaded with them to allow peace, saying any protest in view of the precarious security situation, might be dangerous.

“Your protest march is very valid and not even the Governor is against lawful protests. But we must all be mindful of the present situation which is the precarious security.

“This administration is one even though there are several persons with assigned responsibilities.

“In the course of our individual duties, however, there are also areas we consider difficult terrains where law enforcers like the official in question, contend daily with agents that are against change.

“We are not holding brief for anyone because the matter is already being looked into, but we can assure you that the State Government has made it abundantly clear that all officials of the Government are civil in the enforcement of our laws. None deserves to be dehumanised.

“While we appreciate your lawful steps and share in your pain as a result of the perceived or alleged assault, you should also be mindful of those loitering around the corner to hijack your genuine protest.”

The NLC chairman, Sunday Adeleye, insisted that Odebowale must be punished as he is not above the law; he must be called to order.

The Governor’s aide has denied ever assaulting the pregnant woman.

“It is the figment of the imagination of those who scripted it. But they misfired. How on earth could I have committed such an abominable act? It is not true at all.

“I know there are several persons whose unscrupulous and corrupt activities are being put under check.”

There Are Plans To Link Me As Sponsor Of Secession Group – Peter Obi |The Source

0

By Adesina Soyooye

A two-term Governor of Anambra State, and the Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party,  PDP, in the 2019 Presidential election, Peter Obi, has raised an alarm of plans to link him to a Biafra secession movement. He said the plan was to say he is financially sponsoring a Biafran secession group, in order to hang him for good.

Even though no group was mentioned, the only serious group angling for the secession of the South-east from Nigeria, is the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB.

IPOB, whose leader is Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, was proscribed by the Federal Government, with the full support of South-east Governors. The only South-east Governor not in office at the time of proscription is Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State.

Obi who revealed the plan to drag him into the unprecedented insecurity mess in the country, said in a statement issued on Friday by his Media Office, and signed  by his Special Adviser, Mr. Valentine Obienyem, that the aim was to blackmail him. He also revealed that the plan is being coordinated by  serving South- east Governor whose name was not mentioned in the statement.

Very soon, the statement said, a group will address a Press Statement, and mention Obi as a financial backer of the group fighting for the secession of the South-east from Nigeria.

Obi’s allegation may not be untrue. In 2015 when he was the Vice Presidential candidate of the PDP, at least, three Governors of the South-east were against him. While one was prepared to offer the sum of one billion Naira to the PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to pick,  against Obi, as a running mate, a former very high profile Banker and Economist, the other, was like: “Why Obi, why not me”?

The result: Even though the PDP won in the South-east, the number of votes it got was not overwhelming, compared to the number of registered voters.

Obi’s Media Office:

“The present effort to blackmail Mr. Obi is by some prominent Nigerians, including a present Governor in the South-East.

“Our informant, whom we have no reason to doubt, revealed how five of them were invited to a meeting on how to nail Mr. Peter Obi so that, according to him, his ‘rising profile will be dimmed for good’,” Obienyem said in the statement.

The informant, the statement said, asked Obi to: “Watch out; soon you will see a group call a world press conference, speak of the insecurity in the land, appeal to anybody with information on the causes to help the Government solve it and finally drop the bomb by linking Mr. Peter Obi to the sponsorship of the Biafran movement through offer of money to sustain the agitation and use of Biafran boys for selfish end, including winning of elections.

“Though our informant refused to disclose the name of the Governor behind this and the main person he is using, he assured: “In the fullness of time, the plot will unfold and the characters will become apparent on its own.”

However, according  to Obienyem, a number of those involved in the insidious plot are opting out, as they were no longer comfortable with dragging an innocent man into such a dangerous political game.

“Most of the previous efforts to blackmail Mr. Obi by some prominent people through hired hands backfired, because the truth eventually prevailed”, he said,  emphasising: “The present plot to make trouble for an innocent man will similarly come to nought as far as Almighty God remains on the throne.”

The plot to allegedly drag Obi into the secessionist group comes when the Federal Government says it has a list of a number of high profile Nigerians involved in the plan to destabilise the country by sponsoring insecurity.

It said it was following up on leads, and would soon make the names public. “Nobody involved, no matter how highly placed, will be spared”, the FG warned.

GT Bank Awaits CBN’s Nod For Agbaje’s Successor

By Fola James

GT B Plc is expected to announce the managing director/ chief executive officer designate for the biggest bank in the country, in terms of market capitalization, any moment from now.  The bank is only expecting the apex bank to give a nod on the issue before it goes ahead to announce the new chief executive officer, sources in the lender have informed the magazine.

The current managing director/chief executive officer, Segun Agabje is billed to exit the commercial bank later this year, after the expiration of his 10 years tenure and there are suggestions in the sector that a consummate banker among the current directors of the bank has already been selected by the board of directors to take over from him.

The 57 year old Agbaje took over from Tayo Aderinokun who died before his tenure ended in 2011. Under the outgoing chief executive the lender has leapfrog to become the most capitalized financial institution in the country with a total asset base of 4,944,654, according to the bank’s 2020 full year financial results presented to the Nigerian Exchange Limited, NGX.

The outgoing managing director has been silent over his future but rumour abounds in the sector that he will take over the role of managing director/ chief executive of the GB Bank Holding Company, Holdco recently approved by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.

The Godwin Emefiele-led apex bank, the magazine learnt, has yet to approve the appointment of Agbaje’s successor, even though the board of the bank has already approved a major shake-up which has now sent some top directors of the DMB into retirement, sources in the bank says.

Reports say an executive Director, Miriam Chidiebele Olusanya, the current Head, Wholesale Banking Division has been selected to take over when Agbaje departs in a few weeks, and her appointment is only awaiting the approval of the CBN.  The bank has yet to confirm this.

Sources in the new generation bank informed the magazine that a new set of young executives are expected to take over the affairs of the bank in line with the timeworn policy that the bank has maintained over the years.  “The feeling in the bank favors a young chief executive, similar to what has been happening since the time of Fola Adeola. Successive managing directors were also under 50 years when they took over, including the current chief executive. Therefore, we are not expected to see a departure from that policy,” a source in the bank said.

But the bank had in a swift reaction denied the report that someone has already been selected to lead the bank after Agbaje’s exits. The DMB said in a statement that the board had, indeed, approved the changes in its board, but that it would be premature to make the new board appointment public without the approval of the CBN.

According to the statement signed by the Company Secretary, Erhi Obebeduo, the bank said “The attention of Guaranty Trust Bank plc (the Bank) has been drawn to news circulating in the media about imminent changes on the Board and Management of the Bank.

“As an organization listed on the Nigerian Exchange Limited and regulated by the Central Bank of Nigeria, there are processes that guide such Board changes and channels of communication of such changes as required by regulation.

“The Board of the Bank has approved certain changes in its constitution and is presently engaging its primary regulator on same and would formally communicate upon the conclusion of all required regulatory engagements,” the statement said.

A further statement the bank shared with The Source said the process of choosing Agbaje successor is on course and that the outcome of the meeting will soon be made public.

The bank said “Recall that during the Guaranty Trust Bank Plc Half Year 2020 Investors/Analysts Call held on September 7, 2020, Mr Segun Agbaje, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Guaranty Trust Bank plc, confirmed the commencement of the succession process for Guaranty Trust Bank Nigeria and noted that all Executive Directors of the Bank are participating in this process.

“At the Full Year 2020 Investors/Analysts Call held on March 22, 2021, Mr Agbaje provided an update on the succession process for Guaranty Trust Bank Nigeria, confirming that it has been completed. He also confirmed the ongoing Corporate Reorganisation has been ratified by shareholders at the Court Ordered Meeting of the holders of the fully paid ordinary shares, held on December 4, 2020. He noted that in order to maintain optimum operational efficiency, there will be a Holding Company Board of Directors made up of seven (7) members and a Bank Board of Directors with eight (8) members.

“Please be informed that the members of Boards of Directors will be announced, and all other details of the ongoing Corporate Reorganisation provided, once all regulatory approvals have been obtained. We remain committed to providing best-in-class customer experience to all our valued customers and consistent high-quality returns to all our esteemed shareholders.”

True to words from Traditional Rulers in Ekiti state to revert to their ancestors to check the activities of kidnappers and rampaging Fulani Herdsmen, a Monarch called out local hunters to repel the invasion of his community by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

Oba Joseph Ogundeji, Owajumu of Omu, explained in a radio programme monitored in Ado Ekiti how the invaders were stopped from entering the community.

According to him, it was around 9.00pm last Thursday when he heard sounds of gunshots in the community.

“When I could not get explanation, I dressed up and went to the direction to find out what was happening.

“I saw them numbering about 20 and had already engaged a hunter who was going for night hunting but they could not overpower him.

“At this point, I called out other hunters while ordering children and women to go indoors.

“I was in front, with just my small staff of office and the face to face shooting started.

“My hunters were using local dane guns while the invaders came with sophisticated A47 rifles.

“We were shooting and they were responding for close to one hour, but I discovered the bullets did not penetrate any of us.

“At a point, the Fulani invaders retreated and took to their heels. We pursued them right inside the bush till around 4.00am before my hunters returned.”

The monarch pointed out that the night invasion might have been prompted by an earlier arrest of one of the Fulani Herdsmen whose cows destroyed a farm.

Oba Ogundeji, stated that the incident has been reported to the police which prompted deployment of Amotekun personnel and soldiers to the town.

The Monarch advised Nigerians to protect themselves against the terrorists, saying they should not wait for help from anybody.

Omu and Ijelu communities in Oye local government have become targets for Fulani herdsmen of recent.

Apart from destroying farms, they loot and feed their cows with crops, as well as attempting to rape women.
