The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Resident Electoral Commission, REC, in Lagos, Olusegun Agbaje, has disclosed that no single result from any of the 20 Local Government Areas has arrived at the State Collation Centre as at Sunday afternoon.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, some stakeholders slept overnight at the venue of the State Collation Centre for the Presidential polls, situated at Lagos State INEC headquarters, Sabo-Yaba area, while some arrived early morning to see the process begin.

INEC Has Disgraced Nigeria – Osuntokun

Akin Osuntokun

By Gideon Njoku

The Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, PCC, Director General, says that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has disgraced Nigeria.

Osuntokun, after a hard look at the performance of INEC on Saturday, February, 25, 2023, in the Presidential and National Assembly elections, dismissed it as disgraceful.

Not a few Nigerians agree that INEC and Security Agencies performed poorly. In a number of places, both INEC Officials and election materials arrived late. There were shortages of the materials, and deliberate disappearance of others. It was obvious, in some areas, that INEC connived with politicians to suppress votes.

On the part of Security Agents, they watched while thugs and violence held sway. Guns boomed. They snatched ballot boxes, openly intimidated voters, sending them away, especially, in Lagos and Rivers States, and beating up voters. In some places, the Police helped in manipulating the votes. In one Polling Unit, at least, three Police Officers were caught thump printing ballot papers. Youths pounced on them.

In a statement on Sunday, the LP DG warned INEC not to plunge the nation into an avoidable crisis.

He expressed LP’s displeasure at the conduct of INEC officials in most parts of Lagos, Imo, Rivers and Delta states, where he said a quite a number of LP  members were stopped from voting.

He said: “INEC should not throw Nigeria into crisis. First, we are grateful to God that Nigerian election has not become the bloodshed that many enemies of our dear country had predicted.

“We thank Nigerian people that in spite of the glaring failures of INEC and the deliberate criminality of status quo politicians, they came out and stayed throughout and peacefully cast their votes.

“We are grateful to young Nigerians for their faith in Nigeria and the vision of greatness and justice we have offered them.

“We note that many polling units in Rivers State, Imo State, Delta State, and Lagos State did not vote because INEC did not send any voting materials and officials to these places.

“There is the case of Unit 16, Ward 53 at Ogbogoro Secondary School in Obio-Akpo LGA with more than 700 voters who are strong Labour Party supporters.

“This selective disenfranchisement violates the constitutional rights of Nigerians and a deliberate plan to deny Labour Party of deserved sweeping victory at the polls.

“At this point we want to alert Nigerians that the rest lies on INEC. INEC’s performance in this election has been disgraceful.

“We are sad that there is unnecessary delay in transmitting results from across the country.

“We are alerting INEC that Nigerian youths are impatient and would not accept any deliberate failure to transmit the real results.

“Nigerian people will not accept any later transmission of fake results. We have received intelligence of effort being made in Imo State, Rivers State, Lagos State, and several other states to compromise the results.

“Anyone who pays attention to the mood of Nigerian people know that the people — North, South, East and West — are tired.

“They want a better future for their people.

“They want Nigeria that works for all citizens and they will resist any conspiracy by INEC and the status quo politicians to overthrow their sovereign will.

“We call on INEC to quickly upload the results of the pooling units. INEC leadership should resist the attempt by governors and leading politicians in these states to subvert the will of the people.

“INEC is the one now pushing the country to the precipice of violence by its deliberate inefficiency and failures to implement the provisions of the electoral law.”

“Tinubu Is Manipulating Polls” – Dele Momodu; Asks Buhari To Call Him To  Order

By Gideon Njoku

The Director of Strategic Communications Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Council, Dele Momodu, has accused the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, of a deliberate manipulation of  the results of Presidential polls held on Saturday, 25th February, 2023. He has, therefore, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to call  Tinubu to order.

In a statement Momodu accused Tinubu of using his “media goons to spread   fake results even though it is obvious to him that he was defeated  in his traditional strong holds.”

The election, held on Saturday, saw the Candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, pulling stunning victories in Lagos, at polling stations ordinarily taken for granted as Tinubu’s.

Momodu’s statement reads:

“Our attention has just been drawn to the recklessly dangerous publication unilaterally awarding an impossible victory to the APC Presidential candidate Chief Bola Tinubu. The said newspaper is owned by Tinubu.

“Only yesterday, we all saw how thugs of the APC Chieftain and his allies took over the streets of Lagos burning ballot boxes and documents and generally misbehaving in other to disenfranchise the determined electorates.

“Despite all of these ugly attempts at stealing victory, the APC suffered its worst cataclysmic loss in most of the polling centers in Lagos. The same happened in Kano.

“Incapable of ever being sobered by the crushing humiliation in its traditional territories, we woke up this morning to read about the pathetic and illegal lies cooked up by the Tinubu media goons.

“Tinubu remains the only mainstream candidate whose homebase of South West was decimated by opposition parties in Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Oyo, Osun and Ekiti. Most of the Northern Governors he also expected to help him garner votes in the Northern regions failed spectacularly to deliver the badly needed votes. He failed in the South East and South South.

“The only candidate with the national spread is the PDP Presidential candidate, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

“But as a responsible citizen and respected statesman, he will never rush to the media to claim his well deserved victory and glory after a long and torturous journey.

“We hereby call on INEC and the Federal Government to cage these troublesome APC Chieftains. We have all been witnesses to their unruly behaviour as they did everything to bully and blackmail President Muhammadu Buhari in order to chicken out of the currency swap.

“We also witnessed how they practically intimidated the President to the extent of forcing him to publicly display who he voted for in yesterday’s elections. It was quite a bizarre, unfortunate and unprecedented scene to watch.

“We advise the President to find the courage to call the bluff of these desperate politicians who feel they can buy the whole of Nigeria.”

Refusal To Upload Results: Obi-Datti Media Team Cries Foul, Wants INEC Called To Order

0
Peter Obi and Voters on Election Day

The Obi-Datti Media Office has raised the alarm over the underhand moves to manipulate the Presidential Election results across the country with the non-uploading of much of the presidential election results to the INEC server at the polling stations.

In a statement signed by its Head, Diran Onifade, the Team described the situation as curious, unacceptable, and smacks of fraud that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BIVAS) device could nobly transmit the Senate and House of Representatives results, but cannot do that of the Presidential election.

It said: “The Obi-Datti Media Office finds it curious that the BVAS would choose which results to upload and which not to upload. Certainly, this smacks of a serious fraud aimed to torpedo the wishes of the Nigerian electorate who have already decided that things can no longer continue to go wrong in Nigeria, using the ballot box to do so.

“The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), should be held responsible for this flagrant anomaly that defies logic, as the Obi-Datti Media Office finds what is developing as a recipe to manipulate the process and truncate the electoral wishes of the Nigerian masses.

“We also find unbecoming, the reported interference of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike. We call on all relevant bodies to do the needful and prevent the Governor from meddling in the electoral process.

“We wish to state categorically that the Obi-Datti Media Office will not accept any presidential election result that is not in tandem with the results issued at the polling units, copies of which we already have.

“We are calling the attention of local and international observers and other stakeholders, to this unfortunate and orchestrated anomaly. Please call INEC to order.”

Concerns As INEC Officials Refuse To Upload Presidential Election Results In Lagos, Delta

Julius Abure - Labour Party National Chairman

The National Chairman of the Labour Party, Barrister Julius Abure, has raised alarm on the impunity that is presently happening across the entire Lagos state where the results of the presidential elections collated in various polling units in the state are not being uploaded to the Central Server.

According to Julius Abure, the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in connivance with the security agencies are claiming that the BVAS have suddenly developed fault and therefore cannot function.

The chairman said that information from the party’s field men has it that in places like Agege, Kosofe, Oshodi-Isolo, Surulere, and Ibeju Lekki, amongst others where results shows that Labour Party won convincingly, the INEC officials claim that the BVAS suddenly developed fault when it concerns uploading results of the presidential election.

According to him, “Information reaching me has it that in Lagos, they have refused to upload the results for the presidential election, they have uploaded that of the Senate and House of Representatives but for the presidential, they have refused. And they are using the police to drive our agents and supporters out of the place. And they said that they have firm instruction from INEC headquarters not to upload.

“For example, in Kosofe, they put the collation centre in a Local Government Area Headquarters. The place is surrounded by APC and people are afraid of their life. They are not uploading, they said that they have been giving instruction to insist that the BVAS is faulty. And most of the places we won, but they have refused to upload.

“As I speak, APC officials are in Yaba office of INEC negotiating with the officials. What I have said now is happening in Agege, Kosofe, Oshodi-Isolo, Surulere, we have this situation all over. In Ibeju Lekki, our local government chairman who attempted to stop them was arrested by the police.”

Abure said that similar situation is playing out across the collation centres in Delta state.

He however called on INEC to ensure that only genuine and verifiable results generated from the various polling units should be uploaded.

He also called on the police to help this democracy to work and should resist the lure by the politicians to mar the gains of democracy by refusing to be used to deny Nigerians their choice of leaders

By Adesina Soyooye

It is sweet victory for the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC,  Bola Tinubu  as he defeated former President Olusegun Obasanjo, in Obasanjo’s ward.

Obasanjo had endorsed Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party as his preferred Candidate. That prompted Tinubu’s Media Office to declare that the former President has no electoral value, and will not even be able to win in his ward.

That has come true at Obasanjo’s Ward 11, Zone 6,Unit 12, Abeokuta North where Tinubu won in a slide. He posted 56 votes to Obi’s nine votes.

The Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, scored seven votes.

Presidential, National Assembly Election Results May Be Delayed – INEC

0

By Ayodele Oni

There are indications that results of Saturday’s election may be delayed.

This followed decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) to postpone election in some parts of the country.

INEC announced that the presidential and national assembly election will continue on Sunday in some areas, while it rescheduled the exercise to two weeks in another state.

INEC said it has suspended elections in 141 polling units of Bayelsa state.

INEC chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, explained that the exercise was postponed in the affected polling units because the voting process was disrupted.

The chairman spoke on Saturday while briefing journalists at the collation centre, Abuja, on the ongoing general election.

The postponement affects both the presidential and national assembly elections in the polling units. He said the exercise is now expected to hold on Sunday.

Yakubu said while the situation is now under control, the commission decided to postpone the election after NYSC members expressed apprehension about going back to the locations.

“We have a situation in Bayelsa state, particularly in the capital of Yenogoa where in four wards, wards 4,6,8,14 involving 141 polling units, the process was disrupted.

“We remobilized security and the situation is calm for us to continue the process. But the youth corps members expressed some apprehension about going back.

“So we met with security agencies and we’ve decided that voting in these 141 polling units where the materials are actually intact, will take place tomorrow morning.

” Remember, we’re not only doing presidential election, but we are also doing senatorial and federal constituencies.

“So it’s good to recover and conduct the elections so that we can conclude the processes.

“The youth corps members who are serving as presiding officers and other commission staff, are agreeable that the elections should hold tomorrow morning.”

The electoral commission also announced the suspension of the election in Esan and Igueben federal constituencies in Edo state.

“In Edo state, we had a situation that we handled yesterday (Friday), one of the parties whose acronym is on the score sheet but the logo is not on the ballot paper in a federal constituency.

“After meeting with the stakeholders, a decision was taken since the materials are intact. So, we have suspended the election for Esan North, Esan South and Igueben.

“The ballot papers will be reprinted and elections will now hold with the constituency elections in the next two weeks.”
