Allow States To Prosecute Corrupt Cases That Fall Within Their Purview – Gov Akeredolu

0

By Ayodele Oni

Advocate of a true federalism as and Governor of Ondo state, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has observed that prosecution of corrupt officials should not be an exclusive preserve of the federal government.

Governor Akeredolu pointed out that since the commission of certain offences is local, it is proper that the trial be conducted in the place where the offence is committed.

The Governor spoke at the inauguration of members of Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC), Members of the State Public Complaints, Financial Crime and Anti-Corruption Commission as well as Members of Governing Council of State owned Tertiary Institutions.

Chairman of the State Public Complaints, Financial Crime and Anti-Corruption Commission is the immediate past Chief Judge of the state, Justice Williams Akintoroye.

Governor Akeredolu said the establishment of the Commission followed due process and in line with the claim that the current arrangement in the country is a Federal system of government.

While describing the Commission as a novelty in the State, he charged the Commission to beam its searchlight on the public service.

“The commission of certain offences is local. Corruption trials should not be the exclusive preserve of the Federal Government.

“Stealing is also an offence against the State. Therefore, if an allegation of crime falls within the purview of the State’s criminal jurisdiction, it is proper that the trial be conducted in the place where the offence is committed.

“This Commission is expected to combat crime, effectively. Intelligence gathering should commence from the execution of the State Budget passed into Law.

“It is basic. It is our hope that this body will be able to track budgetary allocations for the benefit of the people. All other engagements should focus on ensuring that the monies appropriated and released are utilised in the interest of the people.

“There are other matters ancillary to this basic function. Corruption, as a social vice, has a wide spectrum.

“The unwholesome activities of public servants must come under close scrutiny. There is, virtually, no area of public service that has not been infested with this virus.

“It is a shame that the State still battles to know the exact figure of those she owes obligations as workers.

“It is deplorable indeed that the government carries a heavy burden of salaries and emoluments of characters entirely unknown to the establishment.

“These elements join others to exact pressures on the government. It is our hope that not only will those behind this disgraceful act be exposed, they must also have their days in court.”

The Governor charged members of Governing Councils of the State owned institutions to think outside the box. He assured that the state will be willing to grant the institutions full autonomy.

Akeredolu also charged members of ODIEC under its Chairman, Dr Joseph Aremo, to remain impartial umpires and assist in deepening the democratic practice.

He said:”The Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission is one of the tripod, a very important institution, whose effectiveness determines the extent of peace and stability at the grassroots.

“This Commission is empowered by law to conduct elections to elect those who will serve the people of Ondo State at the local level. The members of this Commission will conduct Local Government elections.

“Their ability to remain impartial umpires will assist, tremendously, in deepening our democratic practice.

“There is the argument which holds that since this body is normally constituted by the State Government, it is unwise to rely on its activities.

By Ayodele Oni

Contrary to allegation by opposition All Progressive Congress, (APC) that the state is under seige, Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has said his administration has been able to stabilize the state within its first 100 days in office.

In an address, on Tuesday to mark his first 100 days in office, the Governor stated that the administration is fully set to correct some of the mistakes of the immediate past regime.

The governor disclosed that the various review committees he set up when he assumed office were already submitting their reports.

“I have consequently set up White Papers committee on the recommendations of the various committees.

“Before long, our government will take decisions on the various recommendations through a White Paper.”

Adeleke, while giving an update on the progress of his administration  revealed that he would review his scorecard, dwelling on governance.

“You are all aware of the turbulence that surrounded our assumption of office. I am glad to report that we stabilized the state and brought many issues under control.

“In the last three months, we took charge of the state economy and redirected the government’s efforts towards meeting the needs of the people.

“We changed state focus to satisfaction of citizens’ needs. Our mantra emerges as people’s first.

The purpose of government is delivery of good governance and services to the citizenry.

“For a long time, our people were deprived of a listening government. For years, the citizenry cried for a responsive leadership.

“When we came on board, we filled that gap and identified for immediate action the pressing needs of the various communities.

“In our quest to deliver on those areas of needs, we became blind to party affiliations. All abandoned projects by the previous administration were revived.

“State personnel who showed genuine commitment to the public good were retained, irrespective of their antecedents.”

Reeling out his scorecard, he spoke on the ongoing and completed projects embarked upon by his administration and also the future plans for the state.

These, the governor stated, included: “Provision of portable borehole water in each of the 333 wards in Osun State. These are at various stages of completion;

“Construction of 20 km of roads across Osun State; presentation of N518m to 40 communities in Osun State for infrastructural developments.

“These World Bank supported projects are implemented through community development associations. My government is setting up a monitoring committee to ensure strict implementation of the projects;

“Imole Surgical and Medical Outreach: 2000 persons in each of the nine federal constituencies in Osun State, making a total of 18,000 beneficiaries.

“This project was flagged off at Iwo and has reached Ila Orangun and Ile Ife. It will reach Ilesa by next week.

“Rural electrification projects across Osun state. Provision of transformers and other electrical materials to ensure that communities without electricity can have light. This project is ongoing;

“Payment of salaries and pension arrears from January 2016 owed by the past administration;

“This is ongoing and feedback showed that our people appreciate my government’s action on this half salary crisis inherited from the last administration;

“Enrollment of 3000 Osun indigenes on the Osun Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS) to ensure adequate healthcare access for the people. This is expanding the scope of health care coverage in the state;

“Construction of broken bridge at Bokusoro/Adeeke in Iwo to forestall loss of life on the bridge in the past due to erosion.

“I have also directed the expansion of the coverage area of the bridge. It links Iwo town to the main road leading to Ibadan.

“Resumption of the construction of the Osogbo/Ikirun/Kwara Boundary Road abandoned by the past administration;

“The road, which stretches over 20km, is wearing a new look and easing movement of users as a result of my intervention. I will be commissioning the road by this Friday;

“Launched Osun on Tech Revolution through new Tech Innovation Policy, ICT Policy, Domestication of Nigeria’s Startup Act and Osun Goggle Mapping Project.

“This is the first time Osun State will be having a comprehensive policy framework on digital economy and tech innovations;

“In my drive to expand the startup ecosystem, Osun is billed to be the first state in Nigeria to domesticate the Nigeria Startup Act. I am sending the draft bill for the domestication to the state House of Assembly;

“I have also continued to support Osun State University to expand its facilities for first class academic delivery.

“To that end, I approved the almost completed Faculty of Medicine building of the university. Equally, I support unhindered ongoing projects across the university system;

“Flag off of Osun Broadband Fiber Optic project. Yesterday (Monday), I launched the fiber optic project which has remained stalled for the past four years.

“We waived payment of Right of Way in line with the National Broadband Policy and request of World Bank to expand internet penetration across Nigeria.

“My administration is determined to place Osun on a digital world map and grow our state economy.”

Breaking: Supreme Court Affirms Udofia As APC Governorship Candidate In Akwa Ibom

Akanimo Udofia

By Akinwale Kasali

There is wild jubilation in the camp of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the Supreme Court has ruled that Akanimo Udofia remains the substantive candidate of the APC at the Governorship Election scheduled for Saturday, March 11.

The Apex Court dismissed the suit filed by Senator Ita Enang seeking to nullify the Primary Election which produced Akanimo Udofia as the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom State.

Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun upheld the decision of the Court of Appeal, Abuja, which held that the Federal High Court in Uyo acted without jurisdiction when it nullified the APC’s primary, and upheld the primary that produced Udofia.

Enang had prayed the Court to declare him as the authentic Governorship Candidate of the party on the basis that Udofia was not a member of the APC when the party conducted the Governorship primary on May 26, 2022.

After the Federal High Court in Uyo nullified Udofia as the APC governorship candidate for the State in November 2022, Udofia headed to the Court of Appeal in Abuja to challenge the judgement.

The Appellate Court on January 19 set aside the judgment of the lower court and restored him as the APC candidate, stating that the Federal High Court in Uyo wrongly assumed jurisdiction to entertain the matter contrary to Sections 97 and 98 of the Sheriffs Act.

Enang, dissatisfied with the decision of the Court of Appeal, approached the Supreme Court to challenge the judgement.

The Supreme Court dismissed Enang’s suit on grounds that  the trial court had no jurisdiction to question the validity of the waiver granted to Udofia to participate in the primaries, being an internal affair of the party.

INEC Sanctions Sokoto REC, To Miss Governorship Election

By Ayodele Oni

In compliance with its vow to sanction officers found wanting during the ongoing elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has ordered the Sokoto State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr Nura Ali, to stay away from the Commission until further notice.

INEC gave the directive in a letter addressed to the Sokoto State office of the Commission on Monday.

The electoral umpire, in a letter signed by its secretary, Rose Oriaran-Anthony, directed the Administrative Secretary in the State, Hauwa Aliyu Kangiwa, to take full charge of the Commission with immediate effect.

The letter reads “This is to inform you of the commission’s decision for you (Dr Nura Ali), Resident Electoral Commissioner, Sokoto State, to stay away from the commission’s office in Sokoto state immediately until further notice.

“The Administrative Secretary is directed to take full charge of INEC, Sokoto State office with immediate effect.”

INEC also ordered Hauwa to take full responsibility of all administrative and election matters in the state pending when the Commission directs otherwise.

This came barely four days to the Governorship and House of Assembly elections across the country.

INEC recently vowed to punish its officials for negligence in the February 25, 2023, presidential and National Assembly elections.

The Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, who made the vow during a meeting with the commission’s RECs in Abuja on Saturday, said the officials, including Collation and Returning Officers, found wanting in the just concluded elections would not be involved in the forthcoming governorship and House of Assembly elections.

“All staff found to be negligent, whether they are regular or ad hoc officials, including Collation and Returning Officers, must not be involved in forthcoming elections.

“RECs must also immediately initiate disciplinary action where prima facie evidence of wrongdoing has been established.”

OPINION: Just See How INEC’s Mahmood Fooled Himself

There is no beating about the bush here. The cold, hard fact is that Nigerians have just received the deepest cut. They have been stabbed in the neck by someone who promised them life. They have been hit below the belt by a man they thought was harmless. Now, the people are writhing in pains. The country is convulsing in its death throes.

We trace all this to the grand betrayal by Mahmood Yakubu, the infamous chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Yakubu, in life and death, will go down in history as the master dissembler who took his country through the mine field of treachery and deceit. The people believed him till the last hour. They only woke up overnight to discover to their chagrin that he has given them the worst election in the annals of history. The most ironical is that Yakubu’s trenchant assault on the country’s democracy took place at a time the people were expecting to have the freest, fairest and most transparent election in their country’s history.

With the way Yakubu subverted the people’s will in the presidential election of February 25, it is now clear to one and all that he poses a great danger to the peace and progress of Nigeria. Many Nigerians did not know this until now. As a matter of fact, the unveiling of the true Mahmoud Yakubu was heralded with spontaneity. Before now, he was something of a lily of the valley. But now, he stands diminished like an unpleasant dome with caves of putrefaction.

The true Yakubu draws attention to the central message in Alexander Pope’s satirical poem, “The Dunciad”. The basic idea of the poem can be captured like this: stupidity conquers all. Pope’s treatise was provoked by the ribaldry of his time. He was against the hack who, not possessing any scrap of artistic integrity, wrote anything for money.

In line with Pope’s portrayal in the satire, Yakubu is bereft of integrity of any sort. He is a treacherous intellectual without any abiding standards. He harbours an integrity deficit that makes him easily purchasable. Yakubu has just demonstrated, most tragically, that he can do anything for money. But this deviancy is not without a cause. It is the product of disarming stupidity. In Yakubu, stupidity, that paralysis that manifests in senseless and unintelligent actions, is having a field day.

Before Yakubu’s unintelligence became a clear and present danger to the survival of the country, l had, some five days to the election, had cause to scrutinize this man. I had wondered whether we should trust him or not. I had written:

“Mahmood Yakubu is now the man of the moment. What will he do with this election that promises to give us a new Nigeria? This question should agitate his mind, that is if he intends to bequeath a legacy that Nigerians will be proud of. Should we trust Yakubu and his avowals about credible and transparent polls in 2023? We express this reservation because, as William Shakespeare will tell us, there is no art to find the mind’s construction in the face. We will also not accuse him of anything. He has not committed any. We will rather give him the benefit of the doubt, with the hope that he will not dash our hopes.”

This was my own way of releasing my adrenalin on Yakubu on that fateful election week. Now, the man has confirmed my worst fears. He has dashed our hopes. We just found out that he was just putting up a show all along. He was just lying to Nigerians while pretending to be working for their common good.

Shakespeare will forever be right on this score. We could not find the construction of Yakubu’s mind on his face. He fooled Nigerians in the way nobody has ever done.

But ultimately, it is Yakubu, not Nigerians, that has been fooled. Here was a man who had promised Nigerians that their votes will count and will be the sole determinant of the electoral outcome. We are talking about a fellow who told us that his commission will deploy appropriate technology to protect the integrity of the choice made by Nigerians at the polls. The people believed him. That was why they showed extraordinary interest in the 2023 general elections.

But while we were busy believing him, the man got seduced by negative forces. A band of nation-wreckers besieged him. They reduced him to a benighted soul who follows neither the heart nor the brain. He fell for filthy lucre. He sold his conscience for a mess of pottage.

The way it turned out, it has become evident that the Buhari presidency conscripted Yakubu into doing its dirty bidding. The Presidency wrote the poisonous script. Yakubu’s job was to act it out in the most inglorious of ways. He made himself a willing tool in the hands of Buhari and a rapacious cabal within the fold of the All Progressives Congress who do not mind putting Nigeria on a tailspin for the sake of their destructive agenda.

By his action, Buhari has elevated deceit to an art. He has made it an integral part of his reign of destruction. Why would a president promise his people free, fair and transparent election and give them its very opposite? Again, like I did in the case of Yakubu, I believed Buhari when he promised that he will deliver a credible election to Nigerians. Even though the president has failed Nigerians in a way and magnitude that was never imagined, I thought that he would redeem or salvage his very damaged reputation by bequeathing to Nigeria a credible transition programme. But it was all a fluke. Nigerians have been led by the nose by their president.

After all that Buhari has been through, I had thought that he has matured to the level of a statesman. I thought that he would be interested in taking steps and actions that will advance peace and progress in the country. Rather than that, Buhari is leaving us with an aberration. He is bequeathing to Nigerians a fraudulent Presidency.

Beyond the fact that the mandate was stolen, Buhari is handing over to Nigerians a presidency in which the president and his vice are of the same religion. That is very abhorrent. It is an assault on the sobriety of Christians in Nigeria. No lover of Nigeria will contemplate this arrangement, let alone insist on its imposition.

This makes Buhari a nation-wrecker extraordinaire. By coopting a relatively younger Yakubu into this deviousness, he has, wittingly or unwittingly, destroyed all that could have been good about Yakubu.

But should we pity this undeveloped heart called Mahmood Yakubu? No, we should not. We should, instead, resent him for his disgraceful conduct. We should confront him with his indiscretion. He chose primordial and sectional interest over and above national interest. That is most regrettable. Yakubu has lost a historical opportunity to write his name in gold.

APC Excludes SANs Of Igbo Extraction From The List Of 13 Hired To Defend Tinubu’s Presidential Victory In Court

0

By Gideon Njoku

The All Progressives Congress, APC,  has lined up 13 Senior Advocates of Nigeria, SAN, to defend the electoral victory, in Court, of its Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

The SANs will be led by a veteran in electoral cases, Prince Lateef Fagbemi.

Tinubu, the Candidate of the APC, was declared winner in the 25th February, 2023, Presidential election, by the Electoral Umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

But two of his co-contestants, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP, rejected the results and proceeded to  Court.

The three Candidates won  the same number of States – 12 each – but Tinubu had more number of Votes than both Atiku and Obi according to INEC. While he scored 8, 794, 726, Atiku scored 6, 984, 520 and Obi, 6, 101, 533 votes.

However, conspicuously missing in the list of the 13 Senior Lawyers hired by the APC, is any Senior Lawyer of Igbo extraction.

The Senior Lawyers hired are: * Lateef Fagbemi ( Lead  Counsel) *Ahmad El-Marzuq  * Sam Ologunorisa *Rotimi Oguneso * Olabisi Syebo *Gbotega Oyewole *Muritala Abdulrasheed *Aliyu Saiki *Tajudeen Oladoja *Pius Akibo *Oluseye Opasanya *Suraju Saida *Kazeem Adeniyi.

The list of the Legal luminaries, with solid experience in election matters, was released in a statement issued on Tuesday by APC’s National Legal Adviser, Ahmad El-Marzuq.

LP Candidates Distance Selves From Gov. Makinde’s Re-election Endorsement

0
Governor Seyi Makinde

By Akinwale Kasali

Members of the Labour Party, LP,  in the Oyo State vying for elective positions to the State House of Assembly, have distanced themselves from the endorsement of Governor Seyi Makinde by a faction of the Party.

Last Sunday, a faction of the Party had openly endorsed the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Governorship Candidate, who is the incumbent Governor for a second term, which didn’t augur well with some of the Party faithfuls who condemned the it in its entirety.

The Party candidates contesting for the State House of Assembly, distanced themselves from accepting  Governor  Makinde as their consesus candidate for Saturday’s Governorship election.

They  made this known in a communique read by one of the House of Assembly Candidates, Ayodeji Babalola from Ibadan South-East Constituency II.

At the Obi/Datti Campaign Office in Oke Ado, Ibadan, Babalola spoke to journalists where he distanced themselves from the endorsement of Makinde.

The press statement was jointly signed by Babalola;  Kayode Adejumo-Bello, Ibadan North Constituency II; Temidayo Taiwo, Ibadan South-West Constituency II, Oluwatoyin Okunlola, Oluyole Constituency and Sumonu Musa, Ibadan North-East Constituency II.

It reads: “Our attention has been drawn to a news item making the rounds in both the traditional and social media on the declaration of support for the Peoples Democratic Party and All Progressive Congress by some minority factions of the leadership of Labour Party in Oyo State towards the forthcoming gubernatorial and state House of Assembly elections in the state, an action that was taken unilaterally and in pursuit of personal agenda and aggrandisement.

“The movement and all candidates hereby totally dissociate themselves from the selfish stand of those negligible and greedy elements. The entire public is hereby put on notice to beware of this desperate move.

“We like to put it on record that, the Obi-dient Movement is an assemblage of over 120 support groups who are attracted to politics by their interest in the aspiration of Peter Obi to become the President of this great country, hence the coinage, Obi-dient.

“Therefore, majority of us are card-carrying members of Labour Party and at the same time very staunch members of the Obi-dient Movement. This same support for our master is unequivocally extended to all candidates of the party nationwide and in Oyo state particularly.

“In the light of the declaration, it therefore becomes incumbent on us to come out clearly to declare our stand on the declaration of these factions of leaders within the Labour Party in the state.

“All Obidient members are hereby urged to remain calm, maintain status quo ante bellum, while we go out en masse on Saturday to massively vote for all our state assembly candidates and our gubernatorial candidate, Taofiq Akinwale.”

But the  candidate of Labour Party in Ibadan North Federal Constituency for the National Assembly elections, Femi Akin-Alamu, insisted that the party had adopted Makinde as its governorship candidate.

Akin-Alamu, in a statement, on Monday, in Ibadan, said Makinde had shown vision and the desire to engineer a modern Oyo State.

He said, “After much thoughts, prayers and consultation with the leadership of Labour Party in the state, I, together with other leaders of the Labour Party in the state, have decided to give our full and unreserved support to the person that we believe stands way above others in our assessment.

“We cannot preach a different gospel when it seems not to favour the candidate of our party. Party loyalty cannot be put above public good. The leadership of LP has met with the party’s gubernatorial candidate for a review after the presidential election and arrived at the realisation that it was better to support the re-election bid of Governor Makinde.”

According to Akin-Alamu, the Labour Party’s governorship candidate, Tawfiq Akinwale, had not convinced the leadership of the party on his preparedness, in terms of funding and others, for the Saturday’s poll.

“He was requested to tell the assembly his plans, vision, strategy and budget for the election. He was also requested to tell how much he has to spend for the elections and if there was any shortfall between his budget and how much he had,” he added, saying rather than answer,  Akinwale was upset about the questions.

Murder Allegation: INEC Removes Doguwa’s Name From House Of Reps Elected List; Granted Bail

Ado Doguwa Skeptical About APC Winning Kano State

By Akinwale Kasali

Electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has removed the name of Ado Doguwa, the Majority Leader at the House of Representatives from the list of elected Members of  the House of Representatives.

At the February 25th Presidential and National Assembly Elections, Doguwa, a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, was declared  winner  in the Doguwa/Tudunwada constituency, having polled 39,732 votes to defeat the candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Yushau Salisu Abdullahi, who polled 34,798 votes.

But due to his alleged involvement in the killing of several persons and burning of the Secretariat of New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP,  in the just concluded Presidential and NationalAssembly elections, his name has been removed by INEC.

INEC’s remark on the election result of Doguwa was “declaration made under duress.”

On Tuesday, a Federal High Court in Kano  granted him a N500m bail, and barred him from his Constituency during the polls.

He is, currently, the Majority Leader of the House.

People of Akoko south east and south west in Ondo state will still have to wait for a while before their representative at the green chamber emerges.

Though election into the house of representatives had been held 10 days ago with the people voting for the All Progressive Congress (APC) the party had no candidate in the poll.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday published the names of  Rep-Elects in the February 25th general election.

The Rep-Elects, who are seven all from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and One(1) from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), are expected to receive their certificates of return between Tuesday and Wednesday.

They include Tunji-Ojo Olubunmi of APC in Akoko Northeast and Northwest, Adesida Abiodun Cornelius of APC in Akure South and North, Aderin, Ojogo Donald Kimikanboh of APC in Ilaje and Ese-odo, and Akingbaso Festus Olarewaju of PDP in Idanre/ Ifedore,

Others are Adefiranye Ayodele Festus of APC in Ileoluju-Okeigbo and Odigbo, Odimayo Okunjimi John of APC in Okitipupa and Irele, Makinde Abiola Peter, Adelegbe of APC in Ondo east and Ondo west, and Oluwatimehin Emmanuel of APC in Owo and Ose federal Constituencies.

INEC however excluded Akoko Southeast and Southwest Federal constituency in the winners list, with a ‘Court Order’ Remark.

The federal high court sitting in Akure had disqualified the Candidate of the APC for Akoko southeast and southwest federal constituency for the February 25th general election, Mr. Adegboyega Adefarati.

The court, in the February 17th judgement, declared the APC Primary election in the federal constituency null and void.

Mr. Segun Ategbole and Dr. John Adanike, who were aspirants in the primary election had approached the court, alleging infractions and seeking to be declared winner.

The Candidate of the Zenith Labor Party (ZLP) in the federal constituency, Mr. Ogunleye Emmanuel Teloye also approached the court with an originating summons, seeking the disqualification of the APC from participating in the general election, over the Party’s failure to conduct its primary election, before 180 days to the general election.

The court, in the judgement delivered by Justice T.B Adegoke however held that the APC cannot put something on nothing and expect it to stand.

Adegoke said APC has no candidate for House of Representatives in 2023 Election, as no valid Primary Election was held by the Party.

She said APC is restrained from conducting any Primary election as the window has closed, having been shorter than 180 days allowed by the Electoral Act 2022.

The judge also said INEC is restrained from accepting the name of the 3rd Defendant(APC), the Plaintiffs(Mr. Segun Ategbole and John Adanike) or any name whatsoever from APC

She added that the 3rd Defendant (Mr. Gboyega Adefarati) is restrained from parading himself as the candidate of APC for the February 25th, 2023 Election.

Presidential Election Fallout: PDP, Atiku Destined To Lose – Fayose

0

By Ayodele Oni

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose has counselled Atiku Abubakar to honourably return to his base in Dubai, rather than continue to heat the polity in Nigeria.

Featuring on a live television programme on Tuesday, Fayose advised the Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) Atiku Abubakar to accept defeat and return to Dubai.

According to him, Atiku cannot sacrifice  critical stakeholders  in the PDP like Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso and G-5 governors for Iyorchia Ayu and still expect to win the poll.

“The PDP as a party should not be surprised by the outcome of the Presidential poll because it prepared, designed and worked for its defeat.

“I wont talk about Asiwaju Tinubu because Nigerians have made their President.Tinubu emergence  has  further cemented the North- South dichotomy. And we shall not forget in hurry the noble role played by the North.

He took a swipe at the opposition for faulting the outcome of the Presidential poll saying the election was free, fair and credible.

Fayose advised Atiku to stop heating up the polity alleging that his defeat was not unexpected after all.

He used the occasion  to drum support for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu reelection stressing that Lagos is too strategic to be left in the hands of inexperienced candidates.

According to him, “Nobody should expect that the Governorship poll would follow the pattern of the Presidential poll where Labour Party won. He said Obi had a clear statement with his impressive performance in the poll.

Fayose urged Lagos electorate to shun mediocrity but go for excellence and capacity.

The PDP chieftain maintained that the results of the poll as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was a confirmation of the fact insisting that former governor of Lagos State and All Progressives Congress(APC) Presidential candidate won.
