Another Nollywood Actor, Murphy Afolabi, Dies in a Domestic Accident

In less than 48 hours, the Nigeria Movie Industry, Nollywood, has lost three of its members.

First it was Obinna Nwafor, popularly known as Saint Obi, followed by Mukaila Adedigba, a veteran Actor of Yoruba genre of the industry, and now Murphy Afolabi.

Afolabi died in a domestic accident.

It was gathered that he slipped in the bathroom, hit his head on the floor and sustained serious head injuries.

He died on the way to the hospital.

The news of his death was confirmed by one of his colleagues, Tunde Ola-Yusuf, who took to his social media platform Sunday afternoon to mourn Afolabi.

He wrote: “REST IN PEACE…

“May God give the family and close associates the fortitude to bear the loss.

Another actor, Odunlade Adekola took to his Instagram page to react in shock. He shared a photo of pitch darkness and captioned it with: “Jesus Christ,We lost Murphy”, he said.

Other Yoruba Actors took to their social media platforms to mourn Afolabi.

The 49-year old celebrated his birthday barely a week ago Friday, May 5th, 2023.

NDLEA Takes Delivery Of 193 Pellets Of Drugs, Two Businessmen Held

The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA) has announced that two businessmen in its custody have been delivered of 193 pellets of substance suspected to be drugs.

The suspects were earlier arrested by operatives of the NDLEA at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, (NAIA), Abuja for cocaine ingestion.

Femi Babafemi, spokesman of the agency, in a statement on Sunday, gave names of the traffickers as Onoh Ebere, 49, and Christian Ifeanyi Ogbuji, 47.

According to the statement, they were intercepted at the Abuja airport on Wednesday 10th May upon their arrival from Uganda via Addis Ababa, onboard Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 951.

The statement added “Though both suspects have businesses they manage in Nigeria, their main source of income has been drug trafficking.

“They both travelled to Uganda and from there crossed over to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia where they picked the consignments before returning to Abuja with Lagos as their final destination.

“After days in excretion room, Ebere Onoh excreted a total of 100 pellets weighing 2.137kg while Christian Ifeanyi Ogbuji expelled 93 pellets hidden in his stomach with a gross weight of 1.986kg.”

NDLEA operatives also raided two notorious drug joints, Zaro bunk in Bama road, Sabongari and the Sani Abacha indoor stadium, both in Kano metropolis where a total of 160 suspects were arrested with different quantities of illicit substances.

Also, two suspects: Abubakar Sallau, 55, and Nazifi Abdullahi, 25, were arrested on Saturday 13th May, along Kano-Maiduguri road, with 5,000 pills of Tramadol 200mg, while a total of 65,200 tablets of tramadol and exol-5 were seized from the duo of Adamu Nagati, 30, and Ali Nasiru, 35.

This is even as operatives in Abuja also arrested 25 suspects in raids across Tora Bora, Gwarinpa village, 3rd avenue in Gwarinpa, Karamo, Garki market, Sabongari Bwari and New Kucigoro IDP camp, within the FCT.

Another bid to smuggle into Lagos a consignment of 24kg cannabis indica concealed in imported used cars from Canada was again frustrated by NDLEA operatives who seized the illicit substance on Thursday 11th May during a joint 100 percent examination of a container marked, MSMU 7412069, at the Prime Connection Bonded terminal, off Oshodi-Apapa expressway.

Two clearing agents linked with the container, Chief G.O. Njokwu and Mr. Christopher Obialor, have been arrested in collaboration with men of Customs Service.

Assault On Policeman: IGP Orders Arrest Of Late Fela’s Son, Seun

For assaulting a policeman on duty, the Inspector General of Police, (IGP) Usman Alkali Baba Ahmed has ordered immediate arrest of afro beat musician, Seun, son of legendary music, late Fela Anikulapo Kuti.

According to the son of Fela, the officer tried to kill him and his family.

Seun was quoted as saying to the officer, “You dey craze! You dey mad!” as he slapped the policeman.

It is unclear where the incident happened but the video has generated different reactions. It is also unclear what led to the action of the singer’s son.

“The IGP has equally ordered a speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly.

“IGP Usman Alkali Baba assures Nigerians that acts of contempt/disdain for symbols of authority will not be tolerated while offenders of such hideous crimes will be surely brought to book.

Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday night.

The state by Olumuyiwa Adejobi, force spokesman reads, “The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, CFR has ordered the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command to arrest Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, who was captured on video assaulting a police officer in uniform.

“The IGP has equally ordered a speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly.

Primate Of All Nigeria, CAN Back Uzodimma’s Re-election, Say Performance, Great

The desire of Governor Hope Uzodimma to continue in office after serving out his first four years on January 15, 2024, got a major boost on Saturday with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) backing his November 11, 2023 reelection bid.

It was a day an elated Governor Uzodimma reiterated that his Government was “installed by God” hence “there is no need to pretend about it.”

He said that is why he always obliges the demands of men of God who will lead Imo people to come before God’s presence due to the benefits of doing so.

The leaders of the highly respected Christian body anchored their position on what they termed Governor Uzodimma’s superlative performance in office.

The endorsement by CAN is in sync with the position many other groups and individuals, within and outside Imo State, had taken regarding Governor Uzodimma’s reelection.

The Church leaders spoke at the Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu Square, New Owerri at an Interdenominational Service for Peace and Unity organised by the Imo State Chapter of CAN with the theme: Peace and Unity – Bedrock for Sustainable Development.

The lesson was drawn from the Book of Psalm 133:1-3.

The occasion was also a consummation of one of the decisions recently taken by the Imo State Council of Elders with regard to Imo Charter of Equity, and the need for the people to seek the face of God on its implementation via an Interdenominational Service.

The Christian community had used the opportunity of the gathering to adopt and dedicate the Imo Charter of Equity document to God while also praying for peace, stability and security in Imo State, particularly as the November governorship election draws closer.

The event, a version of the annual Imo Prays that CAN has been organising in Imo State in the past three years attracted the who is who in the Christian community in the country, either physically present or ably represented.

The Primate of the All Nigeria Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Henry Ndukuba was the Spiritual father of the day. He was ably represented by the Anglican Archbishop of the Owerri Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev. Dr. David Onuoha while the Catholic Archdiocese of Owerri Ecclesiastical Province, Most Rev. Lucius Ugorji, as one of the guest speakers, was also represented.

Emeritus Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Most Rev. Dr. Samuel CK Uche, His Lordship, Bishop Dennis Jacobs of the Christian Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Snr. Apostle Bethel Onumajuru of the OAIC, Rev Eches Divine Eches, the CAN Chairman of Imo State, among others were all present.

While praying for Governor Uzodimma and his family after the Imo Charter of Equity was formally presented to him by the Chairman, Imo State Council of Elders, HRH Eze Cletus Ilomuanya, Archbishop Uche described the governor’s performance as “superlative” and that he needs to be re-elected to continue with the good works he is doing in Imo State.

He urged all and sundry to support Governor Uzodimma with their love and appealed to the Governor to consider granting amnesty to the bandits living in the bushes and wreaking havoc from there, whom he said, must have taken to criminality due to “hunger and hardship.”

Governor Uzodimma in his remarks acknowledged that there is obvious similarity between Government and the Church which he said is “encapsulated in the service of the people.”

He therefore thanked God for making the day possible “and for the wisdom of the Christian Association of Nigeria Imo Chapter, for initiating Imo Prays,” noting that “Imo State is a Christian State and the people believe that prayer is the key to many things.”

He pointed out that the leadership of the Church in Imo State has shown a lot of evangelism that has made them to see and point out that what is evil is bad and what is good is good.

Also, the Governor thanked the Elders Council for their advisory role on the need for peace, justice and equity in Imo State and expressed happiness over the formal presentation of Imo Charter of Equity in an Inter-denominational programme.

He used the opportunity to advise Imo people, especially the politicians, Stakeholders and Leaders of Thought, to take the Charter of Equity seriously as it “will guarantee peace and unity and reduce political instability.”

He reiterated that only God gives power and as such “politics should not be a do or die affair.” “We all should submit to the wise counsel,” he said.

The Governor continued, “There is no point anybody trying to disorganise the society and State,” and called on Imo citizens to join the Elders and other Stakeholders who have expressed confidence in the Imo Charter of Equity.

He restated that “Imo State government does not need an interpreter to know that we need peace,” saying that as the government wishes the people good, it expects the people to also wish the government good.

“Political parties, campaigns and elections will come and go while Imo State will remain, therefore every Imo person who loves Imo State must wish Imo State peace, progress and development.”

On behalf of the government and people of Imo State, the Governor pledged: “I have received the Charter of Equity and will do my best to implement it.”

One of the Guest Speakers, Archbishop Onuoha who is also a member of the Imo State Elders Council, said Imo people are all brothers and sisters and should not hate themselves and create strives of disunity.

He anchored his speech on Genesis Chapter 13:8, in relation to Abram who later became Abraham and his nephew, Lot.

Archbishop Onuoha said: “It’s God’s decision to place all of us where we are: be it family, village, community or State and we have no choice of where we want to be because that is what God has made.

“For God to grant Imo the prosperity, unity and peace we desire there is every need to join hands together to make Imo State great and love ourselves as brothers and sisters.

“For us to see Imo of our dream we must repent of our sins, the Elders must speak up and should not see the insecurity in Imo State as a problem of the Governor or that of the Government.

“The unknown gunmen are known to some people, those who know them should tell them to stop killing their brothers and sisters.

“Running away from the rural to the urban, from Imo State to Lagos or Abuja or even to abroad is not a solution to the problems of insecurity in Imo State, rather what should be uppermost in our mind is the wellbeing and the welfare of Imo people.”

He then prayed, “from today God will give us peace, prosperity will be released to all Imo citizens because we are all brothers and sisters.”

The Chairman of Imo Elders Council, Eze Ilomuanya recalled that on April 23, 2023 the Elders Council met on the issue of peace and unity of Imo State and decided to take a resolution on the Imo Charter of Equity for future political arrangements of the State.

He then invited Governor Uzodimma to formally receive the Charter of Equity document from the Elders Council and called on the Prelate emeritus, Archbishop Uche to bless the document and pray for the Governor.

Prayers were also generously offered for Imo State, the government, the citizens, the security, the criminals, and the country.

Gospel singer, Mercy Chinwo was the guest artist who complemented the performance of multi- talented artist, Felix Ndukwe.

Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prof Placid Njoku, the Secretary to the State Government, Chief Cosmos Iwu, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Barr Nnamdi Anyaehie, Commissioners, political and government appointees, traditional rulers, among other leaders graced the occasion while attendance cuts across guests from the 27 Local Government Areas of the State.

Veteran Actor, Saint Obi Is Dead

The Nigeria Movie Industry, Nollywood, has been thrown into mourning following the death of Obinna Nwafor, popularly known as Saint Obi.

The 57-Year old, it was gathered, died of a protracted undisclosed illness which defied treatment, early in the week.

The Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, is yet to issue a statement as regards this development. A source said the AGN is on a fact finding tour.

He was an actor, film producer and film director known for his roles in Candle Light, Sakobi, Goodbye Tomorrow, Heart of Gold, Festival of Fire, Executive Crime, and Last Party.

He majored in Theatre Arts at the University of Jos, UNIJOS, and came into the acting scene in 1996, after doing a commercial for Peugeot on Nigeria Television Authority, NTA.

The late thespian has starred in over 60 movies.

In 2001, Saint Obi produced his first movie titled Take Me to Maama, where he starred as Jerry, alongside Ebi Sam, Rachel Oniga, Nse Abel and Enebeli Elebuwa.

Imo PDP Queries High Profile Members, Set To Discipline Them; Anyanwu, Onyereri, May Block Move

The Imo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, has issued queries to a number of its high profile members. Those queried are members of the Party’s Elders Council, including its Chairman, Sir Ambrose Ejiogu, whose son, Philip, a member of the Imo State House of Assembly, representing Owerri North State Constituency, was defeated at the just concluded General Elections.

Sir Ejiogu succeeded Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu as the Chairman of the Party’s Elders Council when Iwuanyanwu was literally heckled out for, allegedly, associating with the State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma. It is the same allegation that is being leveled against the just queried members.

Iwuanyanwu, 80, has since, according to him, quit partisan politics and is currently, the newly appointed President of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.

Those queried with Sir Ejiogu, in the letter dated 25th April, and signed by the State Secretary of the Party, Hon.(Nze) Ray Emeana, include: Eze Duruiheoma, SAN, Sir Peter Mgbenwaelu and Chief Osita Nwaneri. This medium gathered that a couple of others are likely to follow soon.

The allegation against the Elders is that they were present at the meeting of the Imo Elders Forum, recently, held at the Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu Square, and participated in the process where Governor Uzodinma was endorsed for a second term in office.

Even though the Imo State Elders Council, headed by His Royal Highness, Eze Cletus Ilomuanya, was set up as a non-partisan organization, the PDP, has always seen it as pro- Uzodinma and the All Progressives Congress.

At its last meeting, the Council presented the Imo Charter of Equity to the Governor. It provides the rotation of the office of the Governor among the three Senatorial Zones of Owerri, Orlu and Okigwe, for a period of eight years each.

Uzodinma, the incumbent Governor is from Orlu, and was, therefore, endorsed by the members for a second term in office. After Uzodinma (Orlu) the Council said Owerri would take the next slot for eight years.

But it is a Charter that has not gone down well with a number of people, especially, members of the PDP, a Party which Governorship Candidate, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, (Samdaddy), is from Owerri Zone. The Labour Party which Candidate is Chief Athan Achonu, from Okigwe Zone, has also rubbished the Charter and the endorsement of Uzodinma for a second term.

Said the PDP in the query in which the recipients were given a period of one week, to explain why they participated in such a meeting where Uzodinma was endorsed for a second term in office, it is an embarrassment.

The copy addressed to Sir Ejiogu, which this medium saw, titled ENDORSEMENT OF SENATOR HOPE UZODINMA, THE CANDIDATE OF APC: REQUEST FOR EXPLANATION, reads:

“It has come to the attention of the State Working Committee (SWC), that you, Sir Ambrose Ejiogu, Chairman of the Elders Committee of the Party (PDP), was invited, attended and participated in the meeting held at the Ndubuisi Kanu Square, wherein Senator Hope Uzodinma was endorsed for a second term.

“Imo State Elders Council is an organisation which is established by the APC Government of Imo State to champion the cause of the State Government and APC.

“This is most surprising, having regard that you just, recently, (alongside other Party Elders and members) participated in the State Primaries/Congress, leading to the election of the Party Candidate, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, for the Governorship contest of the State.

“The purported endorsement has been widely published by mainstream National and State Media, including Online platforms.

“These embarrassing publications have been given more impetus, having regard to your position in the Party as the Chairman of the Elders Committee whose function as provided in Section 23 (3) of the Party Constitution is to ensure high standard of morality and integrity in all the activities of the Party in the State.”

“You are, therefore, requested by the State Working Committee (SWC), to explain to the Party, within one week of receipt of this letter, why disciplinary action should not be taken against you as in accordance with the Party’s Constitution and the prescribed santions.”

Opinion is that the members may be suspended or even expelled from the Party. But many say it may not be easy as they have a cordial relationship with Anyanwu, especially with Anyanwu’s running mate, Dr Jones Onyereri.

You would recall that these Elders were heavily criticised and, also called names by some members of the Party, for visiting Onyereri to show solidarity when the Supreme Court sacked him as the Party’s Senatorial Candidate for Orlu Zone.

Recall, also, that for months, these Elders have mostly been in the bad books of some members of the Party, especially, those loyal to former Governor Emeka Ihedioha, who shocked not a few people by withdrawing from the Governorship race, thus left Anyanwu as the sole candidate of the Party.

Many are of the opinion that the Elders committed no grievous offence by attending the meeting of the Imo State Elders Council, and were not expected to stand up at the meeting and disagree with the decision to endorse the Governor for a second term in office. Said one PDP member:

“The Imo Elders Council is bipartisan, even the Clergy are members. PDP can only penalize its members, in the instant case, if they start campaigning for Uzodinma instead of Anyanwu. They cannot be held responsible for a collective decision which they may not have contributed to, except being present. The PDP should wake up and reconcile members instead of aggravating an already bad situation”

Former APC National Chairman, Akande, Decries Lust For Foreign Products, Says It’s Foundation Of Underdevelopment

Founding national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Bisi Akande, has identified lust of Nigerians for foreign goods as one of the foundations of the country’s economic problems.

Chief Akande made the remark at a Public Service Lecture, organized by the University of Ibadan, (UI)Alumni Association, Ondo State Branch, in Commemoration of 97th birthday of Afenifere leader, Reuben Fasoranti’s 97th birthday in Akure.

“Every member of this audience has a telephone set. Some people may even have two or three. If you look outside, you will see the latest cars manufactured in Europe, Asia and America.

“Most of us are wearing dresses made in other countries, especially in Europe and Asia. Some of our women are wearing discarded hair from Asian or South American women.

“We love foreign wine and foreign cuisine. Yet, we complain. We fail to plan and, yet, we are surprised that we fail in almost all sectors as we are all lapsing into generations of plan-less hypocrites. I can assure you, that was not what we inherited.

“In this same country, we used to have Five Years Capital Development Plan and Seven Years Capital Development Plans. Now we only plan for the immediate next election!

“We cannot be in love with the products of modernity like cars, telephones and air travels while we continue to live in dreadful underdevelopment.

“But presently, to our collective shame, almost all the cars on Nigerian roads are imported. We import foods, wines, spirits, clothings, perfume, body sprays, toothpick and toiletries and then turn around to complain that the Naira is not strong.

“Let us, as followers, make the Naira strong by changing our ways. Let us learn to make our own cars, produce our own food, drink our own wine and wear our own cloths because those individuals, corporate entities or countries, who think deep daily, plan meticulously and work assiduously towards the realization of their plans would continue to devise all means to confuse, exploit and enslave the lazy, fun=loving and plan-less pleasure seekers.”

The first civilian Governor of Osun state assured Nigerians that they would not regret electing Bola Tinubu as their president, assuring that he will perform.

“We thank God that this time around; Nigerians have elected a leader who has planned for a long time to be our President.

“Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu is a well-known person to Baba Fasoranti and he is also an inheritor of the Awoist legacy of planning and integrity.

“When Tinubu was Governor of Lagos State, he did not just plan for his eight years in office; he did a Master Plan for Lagos State which has since been running for more than the past 20 years and which has transformed the city-state into the powerhouse of the Nigerian economy.

“Therefore, it is right and necessary to expect a 20 or 50 Years Master Plan for Nigeria from President Tinubu which would transform this blessed country into a great one.”

Speaking about the celebrant, Akande said “When Chief Fasoranti was admitted into the University of Ibadan in 1948, his dream, like the dreams of many of his compeers, was to be the best he could be and to serve the society to the best of his ability.

“His generation believes in discipline in both private and public life. Therefore, when we were growing up, especially when we were entering politics, members of my generation also look at Baba Fasonranti’s generation as our role models.

“I am talking, of course, about our leaders – the Immortals like Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Chief Adekunle Ajasin, Senator Abraham Adesanya, Chief Alfred Rewane, Alhaj L. K. Jakande, Chief Bisi Onabanjo and Chief Bola Ige.

“For those our leaders, service was the main essence of leadership and no living one exemplifies this more than the hero we are honouring today.”

AFCON Ouster: Coach Ugbade Says Complacency Cost Golden Eaglets World Cup Ticket

The 2-1 defeat of Coach Nduka Ugbade-led Golden Eaglets by the Junior Stallions of Burkina Faso has been blamed on unseriousness on the part of the Nigerian players.

The defeat has denied the five-time FIFA World Cup winners participation in the age-grade competition.

Goals from Aboubacar Camara in either half gifted the Burkinabes the World Cup ticket and a place in the ongoing African Cup of Nations tournament in Algeria.

The hopes of Nigerians who put up a brilliant performance during the qualifications at the West African Union, WAFU, where they shone like a million Stars and won the trophy in grand style were dashed.

A disappointed Ugbade who couldn’t hide his feelings over the failure to get the World Cup ticket which he said was the priority and focus of the team before the tournament began weeks back.

Sharing his thought about the match, Ugbade said:

“The players are disappointed of course because they are young but we must support them because they need to continue their careers.”

Ugbade told CAF Media: “We should work on their development because I believe that some of these players will eventually move to the senior national team.

“I am happy with the performance of our players and in such competitions, even if you lose, you gain something by developing the players for the future.

“Everything worked as we had planned, but we could not score with the chances we had. We paid dearly for that. We learn the lessons and move on,” he said.

Criticism has, however, continued to trail the team and its handlers over their inability to get the World Cup ticket.

But former Super Eagles Goalkeeper, Ike Shorounmu has a contrary opinion.

Shorounmu lauded the performance of the Golden Eaglets, saying that the youngsters can learn from the defeat and build on for the future.

According to him, “ The players gave all their best against Burkina Faso but its just unfortunate that their best was not enough.

“I can only encourage the players because missing the 2023 U-17 World Cup won’t be an easy thing to digest. But then it has happened and they must have to move on.”

Football enthusiasts in Enugu State attributed the loss to anxiety and failure to convert their chances.

Chidera Offor, a female footballer with Greenfoot FC ofEnugu, said the players missed good chances in the match as a result of anxiety about coming out second best.

“The boys played well, but in football, if you don’t take your changes when you have them, forget it because it will come back to hunt you,” she said.

“Nigeria started the game on a high, which I really like, and missed the first three golden chances, which is not acceptable in modern football,” she added.

“Secondly they kept falling down on the pitch, every player wanted to score and forgot to try the goalkeeper with a distance shot,”she said

She blamed the defender for fouling the striker, which resulted in the penalty; the defender had closed him down and should have avoided contact with him.

“I must commend the players for reaching this stage; they are young and vibrant. So they have a bright future with a better program,” Offor said.

Coach Blaise Ude expressed disappointment in the technical crew, saying that they are the ones who let the country down by not upholding their responsibilities.

“Imagine your players cannot calm down their nerves in front of the goal post to make a better decision, and everybody wants to score at the same time.

“When everybody wants to score in amatch, you find out that nobody succeeds at the end of the day because football is not an individual sport like boxing,” Ude said.

Nobert Okolie, Rangers Football Club media officer, said the team lost to Burkina Faso because they failed to play as a team.

“From the look of things, the Golden Eaglets do not have a leader at the defense and lack scoring power,” she said.

“We conceded the first goal from a loose ball and the second from a misguided tackle; you can see that we are the cause of our downfall,” he said.

NGF Set To Induct New Members, Plans Week-long Programme

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum, (NGF) has scheduled a week long programme of activities to receive some new members into its fold.

The programme, which kick-starts on Sunday is expected to feasture among others, Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji and his wife, Dr Olayemi who will be attending the induction programme for newly elected and returning governors, as well as their spouses in Abuja.

Special Adviser ( Media) to the Governor, Yinka Oyebode confirmed this in a statement in Ado Ekiti at the weekend.

According to him, the week-long induction programme scheduled to hold between Sunday, May 14th to Wednesday May 17th, is aimed at building the capacity of state Governors to establish, manage and set priorities, using best practices and leveraging on tools of their trade for greater and more effective governance.

According to a release by the NGF, the induction programme is aimed at deepening the knowledge and skills of the governors on the principles of governance, as well as helping them transit from campaigning to governing.

The second part of the induction programme, which is tagged Governors’ Wives Summit, is designed as a forum to strategize on how the activities of the Governors’ spouses can best complement the governors’ roles in promoting good governance.

The programme is also aimed at helping the Governors’ wives transit effectively to their new roles as First Ladies.

Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, a Senior University lecturer until her new role as Ekiti State First Lady, will be attending the second part of the programme billed to hold between Wednesday 19th and Friday 21st, alongside 35 other First Ladies.

Immediate past Governor of the state Dr Kayode Fayemi was chairman of the forum until October last year when his tenure ended.

The Nigeria Make-believe Industry, popularly known as Nollywood, has been thrown into mourning following the demise of veteran Actor, Mukaila Adedigba, who was best known Sikiru Adeshina.

The actor who was well known in Yoruba Genre of movie was said to have died earlier Saturday, May 13, 2023.

The cause of his death is still sketchy as the time of filing i this report, but the news of his death was announced by a junior colleague in the industry.

Kunle Afod broke the news and made it viral as he took to his social media handle.

He wrote; R.I.P Adedigba, We will surely miss you., We drank from your River of knowledge, we know how, important you are,the sad news this morning really broke my heart @alafinoro1 sun re ooo.

“Another library is burnt down today, A great philosopher, An icon with so much Yoruba knowledge, A lover of God.

@alafinoro1, You departed this sinful world early hour of today, May your gentle soul rest in peace”.

Details of his burial has not been-publicized, but speculations are rife that he will be buried later, same day he died according to Islamic rite.

He will be sorely missed by colleagues in the industry, especially those who drank from his fountain of knowledge.
