Oyo state Coordinator of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Teslim Folarin has endorsed the party’s governorship candidate in the 2027 election, Sharafadeen Ali.
Folarin, a former Senate Leader threw his total weight behind the APC candidate on Monday when he hosted him in his Ibadan home.
It was the first time the former Senate Leader had endorsed Alli who picked the APC governorship ticket few months ago, a development that led to the polarization of the party by some members who felt aggrieved over his emergence.
Alli had trumped Senator Folarin and former Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu to become APC consensus governorship candidate to the chagrin of other candidates who vowed never to support him in next year’s election.
But Folarin disclosed yesterday that the acrimony has now ended, and that other APC candidates have decided to support Senator Alli to win the governorship election in 2027.
According to him, the ongoing reconciliation of members of the state APC was still ongoing, even though it has only achieved ‘’20 percent’’ adding that aggrieved members have decided to work together for the party’s victory.
He said those that felt aggrieved had justification to do so having invested so much in the party with little to show for their contribution, he called on the party to reward hard-work, noting that aggrieved members of the party are not expected to remain silent when they felt cheated, saying he particularly, has invested over ‘’20 years’’ of his life to become the state chief executive.
He also vowed to ensure that all angry members are brought back to the party’s fold.
“We won’t allow Alli to rest until all aggrieved members get their own benefits,” he said.
