Another dimension has been added to the 2027 political contest as 18 candidates jostle for the presidency.
Former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola has urged President Bola Tinubu and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to step aside from the 2027 presidential election.
According to him, both politicians are too old to contest.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Oyinlola advocated greater opportunities for younger Nigerians in leadership.
He recalled previously declaring that individuals above 50 should not seek governorship positions, citing his experience in public office as the basis for his position.
“Tinubu and Atiku are too old to contest the 2027 presidency. They should step aside for younger people,” he said.
The former governor explained that his position was influenced by his experience while governing Osun State.
“When I was in Osun, I made a declaration based on my experience in office that anybody above 50 should not aspire to be governor of a state,” Oyinlola added.
He maintained that both politicians had contributed to Nigeria’s political development and should create opportunities for younger leaders.
