As part of the fallout of last year’s Governorship election in Ondo state, the All Progressives Congress, (APC), has expelled two Governorship aspirants on its platform for alleged anti-party activities.
They are Mrs Jumoke Anifowose-Ajasin, daughter of late first civilian Governor of old Ondo state, late Mr Michael Ajasin and, Dr Nath Adojutelegan.
The Party’s spokesman, Mr Alex Jalejaye, said in Akure, on Friday, that the decision was in line with Article 21 of the APC Constitution.
Addressing a news conference, Mr Kalejaye pointed out that the wards of both Mrs Anifowoshe and Dr Adojutelegan had also suspended the two former Governorship aspirants.
While Mrs Anifowose is from Owo, country home of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, Dr Adojutelegan is from Akoko Northwest Local Government Area of the State.
Mr Kalejaye noted that their expulsion from the Party would be communicated to the National Secretariat of the APC in line with the law.
According to the APC Spokesman, both Mrs Anifowoshe and Dr Adojutelegan had been given fair hearing by the APC fact-finding Committee to defend themselves, and dismissed insinuation that the expulsion was due to litigation instituted by them against the party and Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
Although, the Party dismissed insinuation that their expulsion was unconnected with legal actions, they instituted against the Party and Governor Akeredolu, but inside sources disclosed that the action was a revenge of their legal action.
Mrs Anifowose had dragged the APC to Court to challenge the Party’s Primary, which produced Akeredolu as the Candidate for the 2020 Governorship election.
She pursued the case up to the Supreme Court despite pleas by Party chieftains urging her to withdraw.
The case was dismissed last week by the Apex court.
