Okorocha: Imo People Want Street Named After Ganduje Renamed” — Collins Opurozor

By Charles Igbo

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma’s Special Adviser on Electronic and Creative Media, Collins Opurozor, has disclosed that some residents of Imo State have demanded that a street in the State Capital nsmed after Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, a former National Chairman of the  All Progressives Congress, APC, be renamed. Ganduje was, also a former Governor of Kano State.

The request stems from a congratulatory visit to Okorocha by Ganduje after  a Federal High Court, Abuja, ruled that the ticked for the Imo West Senatorial District won by Uzodimma should be withdrawn and given to Okorocha as the winner of the Primary election.

In a surprising move, Ganduje not only visited Okorocha even when the ruling was still mirred in controversy, he told the former Governor that he was very happy over the ruling.

But Opurozor, who featured on an Arise Television interview, dismissed Ganduje’s visit to Okorocha as unimportant and questioned the level of political support Okorocha enjoys both at home and at the National level. He asked if anybody has seen any prominent politician of Imo origin who paid Okorocha a congratulatory visit since after the ruling.

Instead, he disclosed, Imolites, angry over Ganduje’s visit,  converged on the street in Owerri, the Capital City, named after Ganduje, and requested that it be renamed.

The Imo State Chapter of the APC as well as all the Chairmen of the 14 Imo West LGA’s, have since disclaimed the Court ruling, insisting that Uzodimma remains the Senatorial Candidate for the District. An appeal to a higher Court is expected  to sort out the problem.
