2027 Presidential hopeful, Peter Obi has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission,INEC to ensure the conduct of free, fair and credible election next year.
Obi, a former governor of Anambra state and presidential candidate of the National Democrtic Congress , NDC said the electoral umpire must resist all entreaties to manipulate the election in favour of a particular politicalparty.
The NDC presidential hopeful spoke at the weekend in Ogugu, Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State,while unveiling the party’s NDC candidate for Kogi East, saying a situation where the court determines who wins election is unacceptable, insisting that election must be wonat the polls.
Recall that Obi contested the 2023 presidential election which he lost to incumbent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who also had the court affirmed his election victory.
Acording to the NDC presidential candidate, Nigerians must ensure that their votes count by defending the choices, saying the wish of the electorate must be respected, once they make their choice of whotovote for.
He also charge the people to go out to vote during the election, noting that politicians like him are only trying to change the situation in the country for the better,and not be cause of pecuniary gains.
Obi; “My charge to the people is that they must ensure a free, fair and credible election. This time around, our votes must count. Nigerians must elect those who will lead them.
“We want to change the dynamics where politicians do not ask Nigerians about their problems. The next government must focus on getting our children back to school, securing our environment, and ensuring our people earn a decent living.”
