Obi Mourns Braimah, Others; Calls For Security Review

African Democratic Congress, ADC, Presidential hopeful, Mr.  Peter Obi, has expressed deep sorrow over the killing of Brigadier-General O. Braimah and other military personnel in a Boko Haram attack at Benisheikh, describing the incident as a painful reminder of the nation’s security challenges.

In a statement on his social media platforms on Friday, Obi said the death of the senior officer and his colleagues highlights the urgent need for Nigeria to reassess how it values and protects those who risk their lives in defence of the country.

“The moment I heard of the killing of  soldiers, I was reminded of what other countries commit to when it comes to rescuing their endangered soldiers on the battlefield,” he said.

He described the attack as a “clarion call” for both leadership and citizens to reflect more deeply on the value placed on human life, particularly members of the armed forces who confront insecurity daily.

Obi  stressed the importance of strengthening national resolve and improving systems aimed at safeguarding military personnel and civilians alike.

Obi also extended his condolences to the family of the late Brigadier-General, as well as to the families of other fallen soldiers, praying for the repose of their souls and comfort for those they left behind.

The attack at Benisheikh, attributed to Boko Haram insurgents, adds to growing concerns over persistent insecurity in parts of the country and the continued loss of lives among security forces.
