The Nigerian Movie Industry, Nollywood, has once again lost one of its Actors, Baba Sodiq.
Baba Sodiq, popular in the Yoruba Industry of Nollywood, died exactly one month after the burial of his close friend and colleague, Janmole.
The heartbreaking development has left colleagues, fans and family members in shock, as many described the duo as inseparable brothers who shared a lifelong bond both on and off the screen.
Announcing the sad news in an emotional tribute shared on social media, filmmaker, Tunde Ola-Yusuff, who recalled the unique relationship between the two actors, noted that they grew up together, chose the same career path, hustled side by side and prayed together in pursuit of success.
According to him, Janmole was laid to rest just a month ago, during which Baba Sodiq was visibly active throughout the burial rites.
It is, however, sad that fate has now taken Baba Sodiq on the same journey of no return.
In a tribute to the late Baba Sodiq, Ola-Yusuff wrote, “You guys are brothers, you grew together, chose the same career, hustled together and prayed together to get to the top. Exactly a month ago, one was committed to mother earth amidst tears in Okeho. Baba Sodiq was active and visible at the burial of Janmole.
“Today, the second will be committed to the same land. Continue your brotherhood where it will never end. Rest in peace, Baba Sodiq”.
The sad news of his passing has, however, brought about an outpouring of grief across social media, with many Nollywood practitioners and fans expressing disbelief over the loss of two close friends within such a short period.
The cause of the death of the theatre practitioner remains unknown, for now.
His family is yet to announce his funeral arrangements.
