Nigerians Mourn Justice Belgore

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has sent his condolences on the death of a retired Justice of the Court of Appeal, Ahmad Belgore.

The governor joined other prominent Nigerians mourning the passing of the foremost jurist who died on Tuesday.

His demise was announced by the Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA Ilorin Branch, Kwara State, Kamaldeen Gambari, yesterday.

“Information reaching me now indicates that Hon. Justice Ahmad Olarewaju Belgore, PCJA (retd.) is dead. May Allah forgive his shortcomings,” Gambari said.

According to the governor’s condolence message contained in a statement made available to journalists by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, on Wednesday, he said the demised jurist was a notable community leader in his lifetime.

The governor also described the late judge as someone who made himself available for the service of the country.

The statement read, “Belgore, who was until his recent retirement the presiding Justice of the Ilorin Division of the Court of Appeal, died on Tuesday night.

“The governor sends his heartfelt condolences to the entire Ilorin Emirate, the bar and the bench, and to the Belgores, who have lost a rare gem.

“Justice Belgore was a legal giant and a foremost community leader who offered his shoulder for many to lean on.”

In his own separate condolence message, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, described the passing of Belgore as a huge loss to the state and the country at large.

The late justice of the  Court of Appeal was 70 years old.
