Nigerian Boxer, Sadiq Umar Hospitalized After Defeat To Russian |The Source

After suffering a defeat courtesy of a technical knockout from Russian Pugilist, Fyodor Chudinov, Nigeria born boxer, Sadiq Umar has been hospitalized.

The British-Nigerian boxer fought the Russian in Khimki, near the Russian Capital, Moscow, and fell ill after receiving series of punches from the highest Russian fighter.

According to reports emanating from Russia, Sadiq was reported to have began to cough up blood after his defeat by technical knockout. He, also, needed an oxygen mask after the fight.

The 32-year-old super middleweight was disorientated following his defeat and was given immediate medical assistance by doctors, according to TASS.

The Russian publication says an ambulance was  called after he fell ill during routine doping control.

“Umar was hospitalized,” a source was quoted as saying, with the report adding that the boxer began to “cough up blood”.

No further details on his medical condition were made available.

The Ilford boxer, who was born in Nigeria, counts six knockouts among his 10 professional wins, and has been gearing up for a shot at the British title against Lerrone Richards.
