NDC Closes Sales Of Presidential Nomination Forms

 The National Democratic Congress, NDC, on Monday, May 18, 2026, announced an extension to the sale of its Governorship  National and State Assembly nomination forms from May 17 ,to May 24, 2026.

 

The party, however, said it has closed the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms for presidential aspirants.

 

In a statement from Ikenna Enekweizu, its National Secretary, the NDC warned that there will be no further extension to the sale of forms of any kind after the expiry of the new dateline.

 

The party emphasized the importance of aspirants complying with the stipulated time-frame.

 

“All aspirants are advised to adhere strictly to the stipulated timelines as no further extension shall be granted beyond the approved deadline”, the party stated

However, the party was silent on the number of aspirants  that have purchased nomination forms, particularly those of the presidential and gubernatorial elections.

 

Former Labour Party LP presidential candidate ,Peter Obi and the Kwankwasiyya Movement leader , Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso are expected to feature prominently in the party’s presidential arrangements.

 

According to Enekweizu, the screening of aspirants who have already purchased ,and submitted their nomination forms  for various positions will commence on Tuesday May 19, and end on May 26, 2026.

 

Similarly, the submission of nomination forms for aspirants who pass the screening exercise will begin on Wednesday May 20, and end on May 26, 2026.

According to the party, aspirants are to appear before the screening panel with all relevant documents, including educational certificates, birth certificates or declaration of age, passport photographs, voter’s card, party membership card, detailed personal resume, and any other vital records.

 

Aspirants, the statement added, are expected to appear at designated screening venues across the country.

 

The party assured that the screening exercise would be strictly guided by some salient factors including the wishes and aspirations of the electorate , local political realities , character and leadership qualities of the aspirants.

 

The statement further indicated that in line with its policy thrust, women, youth and vulnerable groups will receive special attention during the screening exercise.

This was as the party appealed to aspirants to prioritize the consensus option where necessary, as a veritable way of strengthening party unity, and mitigating divisions ahead of the general elections.

 

Going by the Independent National Electoral Commission’s election timetable, all political parties are expected to submit their candidates for the 2027 polls on, or before May 30, 2026.
